The after the Leftover Crack Show!
    Rachel Macie H.

Looking for a spot to catch a show and have some Grog? Well this Shop is it as who doesn't love a good old fashioned punk show on a weekday night! Coming here I wasn't all too sure what to expect but what I found was an awesome little venue that was just super fun the whole night away! This is a decent sized place with a good amount of floor space to mosh and chill on with the stage kinda in the corner basically everywhere is a decent view as long as your talk enough! Parking here was easy for me as I found a spot on the streets before the venue and it wasn't the only one so I know that is always a relief! Some of the shows here can sell out so if you know about it in advance then definitely take advantage of the presale if there is one! Overall it was a show it sounded good the people who worked at the venue were nice and it was a good time so with that it sure I'll be back here again at some point to see Leftover Crack or who knows who else either way I'll see you in the pit!

1/12/2020 receipt/tickets voucher for Birthday Massacre show, scheduled for 4/27/2020 but never played due to COVID-19, at Grog Shop.

We had purchased tickets to see and hear a musical artist -- The Birthday Massacre, from Canada -- back before the pandemic had occurred. In the early days of the pandemic, I had called the venue to inquire about a refund and was told to keep my receipt in case the artist would reschedule. However, the artist has not returned to this venue and is not planning to do so during its current tour. Today, I called the venue today to request a refund and was told that the venue was well past the point of giving out refunds and that -- supposedly -- it had sent out an e-mail months ago. However, we had never received such a message, as we were advised to pay in person in the first place. Ultimately, this is the only business/venue that had screwed us out of money due to an unprecedented, global pandemic; shame on you, Grog Shop! We will never be attending a show at your establishment and will be advising all of our friends to steer clear from you, as well!

If you are into live music in Cleveland, this place is probably one of the places you've been to more times than you can remember. It's legendary status as a live music venue is well deserved, though most of us older folks spent more time in the original location down the street. There's not much more to say than this is one of the best places in Cleveland to get your music on. Nestled in the heart of Coventry, there are tons of places to eat at before or after the show.

I went to the Grog Shop at the request of a friend who wanted to see an artist, who I'd never heard of. In order to save money on the tickets we purchased them at a record shop in Lakewood where they gave us a carbon copy piece of paper as our ticket. The Grog Shop was quite an experience. When I entered I was immediately swept back to the late '90s when I spent Friday and Saturday nights in a dark and dingy fraternity house basement. There is a bar with a few seats, two or three high top tables and a stage in the corner. That's it so prepare to spend your evening standing. The entire place is very dark. The bathrooms are covered in graffiti. Drinks were good and inexpensive. I found the age range of the audience very interesting. People varied from around 30 years old to maybe their upper 70s. My whole experience at the Grog Shop was underwhelming. I do admit though, that I may feel differently if it was an artist I knew and was eager to see. The reason being, the place was extremely intimate. I'm not eager to visit the Grog Shop any time soon but would go back if I was excited about the artist performing.

I come to this small Coventry club mostly for the comedy shows, but it's primarily a music club. It's a Cleveland institution ( probably twenty years old) and the beer prices are pretty good (see picture of blue menu), but the only food they have are the bags of potato chips they sell for a dollar. Luckily, there are LOTS of restaurants near the Grog Shop to visit first. EDIT: Regarding parking - bring quarters. Even if you find something on the street rather than the nearby parking garage, EVERY parking spot in Coventry has a meter by it. And you WILL get ticketed if you're still parked there after the meter runs out. Trust me.

I've always loved this small local music venue. Everyone can be close to the band and it has a funky intimate vibe. They have all sorts of music. No food but full bar and reasonable prices. It's in the basement which gives it a little of a hidden speak easy feel. Lots of funky art. Make sure you look up, down and all around. Almost no seating but you'll want to be up dancing anyway. It's been around a long time. Who says good things dont last?

I recently went to the Grog shop for a silent disco that they had. And let me tell you!!!! I had an absolute blast! The price for the event was only $10 which I thought was something you cannot beat! I have always wanted to attend a silent disco because I thought it was a neat idea. All the dj-s at the event were phenomenal. They truly read the crowd and knew exactly what to play. The space of the grog shop is very intimate and cozy. They had seats at the bar that you could sit at. Which I truly appreciated. The price for the drinks are very reasonable. I had a blast there and will for sure lookout for other events and shows that they put on.

So many great restaurants in Little Italy that it's hard to walk in to a random establishment and not have a great meal. But this little bar tucked away at the corner right before heading up Mayfield hill is a hidden gem. It's not a big place. It's not fancy. It's a "bar". But I promise you... they have GREAT food here! There's always a crowd at the actual bar during the few times I've gone, but for as small as the dining area with tables is, I'm a bit surprised as to why it isn't full of diners more often. Perhaps because they've labeled themselves a "bar" and maybe most passerby's think you can only drink there. So this is my one little way of getting the word out: EAT @ BORGATA!!! You won't be disappointed... Especially if you try the blackened chicken Alfredo! Perfectly seasoned, super tender chicken, creamy Alfredo sauce, with the 3 pieces of the most perfect garlic toast - it's carb heaven on a plate!!! DO IT!! One of the greater things about this establishment is that if you savor and enjoy your meal and drinks patiently enough and not rush out, you'll likely meet the chef as he goes from table to table asking how you are enjoying your meal. Twice I've had a nice conversation with Chef Armun, this time a little extended as we got to know more about each other. One of my friends happen to mention that it was my birthday. Jerk! (something I don't really like to announce). Then something happened when we were done with our meal and were on our way out. Chef Armun stopped us and said "Can you give me 5 minutes? You can't leave yet." I'm confused, but said "oooohkay, sure." A few minutes passes by and comes out with a slice of the most decadent cake with a candle on it and the whole place started singing happy birthday! For sure an occasion I will always remember. And it's things like this that endear places and people near your heart... where and when you truly feel treated as friend or family by a small, local business. To Chef Armun and Borgata... thanks for the impactful experience!! To everyone reading this: EAT & DRINK @ BORGATA! You won't be disappointed!

The bread pudding was delicious and soft with layers of flavor. It had a caramel sauce and tasteful strawberry fruit accent. The garlic toast was fantastic and a perfect mix of loaded on garlic and butter and not too thick bread so it wasn't dry or hard at all. The salad with shrimp was impressive. The shrimp on the salad (3 for $4) are huge! Yum. The chef came out when I got my food and let me know he labeled everything on the outside which was a thoughtful and helpful gesture! Not too terribly expensive either.

Off the top maybe 5-6 tables and a bar that holds 10-12 people if I was guessing. Multiple TVs playing all sports. Keno, Jukebox also available. Nice neighborhood bar. Staff were very friendly even though they were busy. As for the food, I ordered mozzarella sticks, a hot Italian sub with tater tots. The cheese sticks were bad. Tiny, lukewarm and not much flavoring. Marinara dipping sauce was bland as well. Now for the sub. Unreal Italian Sub. The tots were crispy and salted. The sub was AMAZING... repeat AMAZING. Served with Italian dressing, on a toasted roll. Banana peppers, onion, tomato, with multiple meats and cheeses. Definitely a bar favorite as I saw many people eating the same dish. It's worth a visit or a try if you're in the area. The big positive of this place was the prices. $2.50 a beer and $10 for that sub. My tab was low so that's always a good thing. I would go back to this place however it might be tough sometimes if the bar gets pizza. In the plaza it sits next to a pizza place that I was told you can order the pizza from the bar and they have a window to slide the food through. I didn't try the pizza so I won't review that place.
