There just isn't a lot of mead i could find around me so the fact that Groennfell ships is very convenient.

However there is parking on premises in the back. The owner Alex is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his craft and is happy to share his knowledge of this wonderful fermented beverage and the process of making it. Most importantly the mead itself is wonderful and drinking here really feels like a one of kind experience. Alex is great company and his passion for creating delicious mead pours through in each representation the drink itself. His recipes are unique, delicious, and full of surprises. I came with a small group most of whom had never had mead before and were skeptical but by the end of the tasting Alex had made mead fans out of all of them. Definitely a special place, don't miss the chance to go if you're in the area.

Golden Rule Mead Cafe - If it looks like a house... well, it is, but it's the right place ! Park in the lot around back, driveway is to the left of the house.

Still serving and happy for the business. I chose a pint of The Unified Press and an order of the Crispy Brussels, both of which arrived swiftly. The cider was semi-dry with just a bit of sweetness. A perfect nightcap. The Brussels sprouts was a big portion and half of it went into a to go box. But the first half, I enjoyed very much until it was closing time. This was a lovely way to end my day of exploring Burlington. Nice warm spot, friendly service and great eats/drinks. I am only bummed that they were sold out of their non-alcoholic The Clean Mayor to bring a pack back home to my wife. [Review 1657 of 2024 - 146 in Vermont - 22680 overall]

We sampled a variety of them before choosing full pours of the Unified Press (standard cider), and Wit's Up (a bit hoppier, perfect for us IPA lovers). Weren't really a fan of their other selections, as we felt the added in flavors overpowered the appley flavor. Ordered a double patty burger, which was pretty tasty and juicy. Fries were extra. Overall, okay cider, good food, and good service. Probably a 3 for the cider, but service and food bump it to a 4.

It really depends on your palette, and you have to understand that the grapes local to the area will not be your typical grapes. My family got flights, both sweet and dry. We really liked the 2023 Louise and 2022 Marquette. In fact, the Marquette was the best of the bunch from my point of view. The ciders were both really sweet, but the Eden Angeljus was pretty good and reminiscent of Mead. The Riesling was also a favorite. We got a cheeseboard for two, and that was freaking delicious. It came with a maple cranberry preserve that was out of this world. But the cheese, and even the crackers, were exceptionally good, too. Beyond that, the service was exemplary. Ruby in particular was a joy to talk to and quite good at her job. Finally, the live music they had playing was surprisingly good. I did not expect that kind of quality on a random Saturday in May. I highly recommend going to this winery.

Many of the beers aren't available out west, but apples to apples, this place beats any beer shop I've ever found back home...or nearly anywhere I've been. The cooler is organized well by locale, by types, separating out hard ciders and seltzers. Outside the coolers they've got many different bottles from here and abroad. A good selection of stouts, some lambics... And they have a lot of mead products, locally produced. I didn't try them, but can't wait to one of these trips. Best part, the owners/staff are super kind and personable, and knowledgeable. Last summer I stopped in and asked him, "if I can only take one 4-pack, which would you guarantee and stake your reputation on?" He gave me what turned out to be one of my favorite beers, an IPA from Great North. This stop, they didn't have it, but he ordered it for me, and gave me another 4-pack he guarantee I'd like. Haven't tried it yet, but have no doubt it'll be great. I was in here today and all the customers were excited and going through the same decidophobia I've faced here. There are grilled cheese sandwiches for sale upstairs. I'll continue to make stops here on my way to where I'm going.
