The staff are super helpful, the store is clean, and the aisles are spacious. I couldn't find fault with anything inside. The young people working at the checkout were friendly and helpful. What a huge difference from the previous owners. The previous owners found out that I was feeding my Chihuahua canned salmon.. and they stopped stocking the canned salmon.. because they knew I was an anti-Trump person. And they were full-blown fascists. The new owners have turned the place around and keep the place stocked to the gills for the most part. With a lot of new organic products. I needed to use the restroom and was told there were no public restrooms. The Grocery Outlet in 29 Palms and other Grocery Outlets do have public restrooms. I have been shopping at the Grocery Outlet since it opened in Yucca Valley. The employees were not friendly or helpful at this store. I'm very disappointed with the quality of the food items I just purchased. Got home and saw that most of the items are pretty much 1 or 2 weeks from the expiration date. Bought a frozen pizza and the cheese didn't even melt. The ramen tasted of rancid oils. Quakers Chewy bar tasted old too. Ground beef is 2 days away from being expired. Spent $130 of my husband's hard earned money on expired food. I wonder what else I purchased and have not opened that tastes off? It's worth spending a few extra bucks at Walmart and know I'm not getting expired bottom of the barrel groceries. The people that work here are really the reason I continue to shop here. Everyone Herr is extremely friendly and helpful. On top of that, they always have great prices on certain items. While they don't always have the same things, and you can't always find everything you would in a standard chain grocery store, they always have the necessities and they always manage to keep their prices low. I'm pretty sure their boneless skinless vhicken breasts have been $1.99 a lb since they opened and if that's not a reason to go their in itself, then shop to see how nice the people treat you and how fast they open another lane when more than 2 people are in checkout. I've been shopping at this store for a couple of years, and over the last year at least once a week on average. I read some of the one-star reviews and I don't think those are deserved at all. The staff has always been quite courteous to me, and I find many good, reliable values in this store. Yes sometimes they have odd lots of things or items that are closer to their "Best-By" date... and generally it's reflected in the price. (It's called Grocery OUTLET.) I like to hunt for bargains here and I generally find them. I also shop other stores regularly but this one is the best for certain things that I buy, and outlet-style specials the other groceries don't have. read more

We stan this Grocery Outlet!!! If you all are heading to Jtree and need to make a grocery stop- look no further. This Grocery Outlet had it all. Like, they even had the chipotle Taco Bell sauce! (ok why do I feel like that paragraph was so Stefon from SNL hahaha) anyway... The shelves were well stocked and the staff was SO friendly. Even the other customers were friendly. This hurts my heart. This place used to be my favorite supermarket during the pandemic and I loved the people working here and how they employed older people too. Now I don't go as often and they have younger people working who are not as kind. I was told my daughter could not come in wearing her backpack and that you cannot eat anything you buy there in front of the store like an ice cream. In addition I noticed the prices went up and I heard that it is a new owner. I started going next door to family dollar for a few items and the kids there are very kind. Very disappointed. Went with family and my 83 year old mother had to use the bathroom. Sign said "Out of Order" was told its not out of order, the owner's policy is not to all customers to use. I explained we were shopping and my mom can barely walk and they refused. Told to go to Carl Jr's. Needless to say we abandoned our carts and won't be back. Very impressed. I've been to a Grocery Outlet store a while back and recall being able to purchase a few things at good prices. Here, I was able to do the entirety of my grocery shopping (at excellent prices). A FEW OF MY FAVORITE DEALS: -Firewood: a bundle for $5 (cheapest I've seen anywhere) -30-pack of PBR: $20 -Large bag of tortilla chips: $1.50 -Large carton of strawberries: $3 -12-pack of LaCroix: $4 -Mid-sized bottle of decent vodka: $8 -Large package of chicken breasts: $6+ The selection isn't massive but I was able to find everything I needed. They had a good selection of alcohol: beer, liquor, and wine. Saw a few wine bottles for as cheap as $3. Friendly cashier. Ample parking. read more

Owners don't care at their employees or customers!! I was both a CUSTOMER and a EMPLOYEE. (a manager). Never once at this store did one day go by where anything went right. Shout out to 6 people that actually worked and did their jobs and were productive within their days shift. ( Ashley, Xena, Ryder, Stephanie, deb, and barbara ) that type of work ethic deserves to be rewarded as i feel as these hard working people were the ones keeping that store open. As their manager i got the privilege to work closely with them, and learn very much. As i worked throughout the day, other mangers and staff failed to communicate, and working together on running the store seemed impossible some days. Another manager that gives all his responsibilities to to everyone else, and does nothing but leave the store to smoke 10 billion fucking times WHILE THERE IS NO OTHER MANAGEMENT OR OWNERS IN THE STORE!! ( found this out from complaints from employees texting ME off the clock to tell me the shit they have to put up with. When i went to work, i did my best, i treated everyone fairly as they should be, and actually took the time to communicate with my staff and make sure they are happy. Customer service during COVID-19 at this business has been very poor. I make an effort to abide by all of the protocols, yet I found myself thinking, "what am I going to get in trouble for at Grocery Outlet today?" Other stores and restaurants politely remind customers of their requirements. At Grocery Outlet my experience has been that the employees are aggressive and rude about restrictions. It is worth it to me to pay more at other grocery stores where I will be treated with respect, rather than being talked down to and scolded at Grocery Outlet. I have been shouted at for all of the following: missing the signage and standing too close to the next person in line, putting my reusable bags on the counter, bringing my laptop bag with me into the store instead of leaving it in my car, and for simply asking whether masks were still required for vaccinated persons (I was wearing a mask when I asked the question). HARASSED BY NATHAN AND MIRANDA AT THE 29 PALMS STORE I bought a $2 bag of chips along with $80 of other food yesterday. I opened the $2 bag of chips while I was shopping. I know this is irregular, but all that food makes me hungry. I usually get "was this open sir" at the checkout. I say no, that was my dinner or something funny. The checker laughs (with me) On this occasion with the $2 bag of chips I told the checker they were stale. She said you have to go ahead and pay for them and the do a return. I said no problem. I go to several of these stores. Palm Springs etc.. I spoke to Nathan about it and he inferred I stole the $2 bag of chips. I said are you kidding. I brought them to the checkout, and told you guys they were stale. I would think you'd want to know. I said, do I look like I need $2 ? He said and I quote YOU MAY. Wow, did you really say that ? Then he tried to correct himself and "you may or you may not" I said I'm 64 years old. I don't steal $2 bags of chips. He said 64 is just a number. I have no personal opinion of him. I looked up the return policy and emailed the central store customer service. I went back the next day because the popcorn, and another bag of chips I bought were also bad. I'm thinking how is this possible. I've never had bad food there. Although once I did get some tomatoes that had a metallic taste. I asked for the manager. Miranda comes up with an immediate attitude of some kind. I explained about the $2 bag of chips and the popcorn. I showed her my receipt and read her the return policy off of their own site. See a photo of it below. She jumped in TELLING ME TO GO ON GROCERYOUTLET ORG There's no such site. I tried it standing there. Then she flat out said I stole the chips. I said, "if I had opened it, and left it on the shelf, I could see your point". Then she sto leave the store. I've never seen any grocery store conduct themselves like this. Escalating something over $2 is more than unusual. Then she backed off when I said "I've been polite to you". I left. A lot of employees walked by as we talked. Most were curious. Some looked at me like what's gonna be the outcome of this. They've seen me in there since it opened. I've never had a problem. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I'm just not sure how these two individuals justify taking a stale $2 bag of chips and using it to accuse a nice friendly local man driving a very nice car of stealing (a $2 bag of chips I brought to the checkout) I'm sure I'll go back, but unfortunately I will not be buying anymore chips, or things like that. As for these two, I would fire them in two seconds. I'm a general contractor and a businessmen. If one of my employees came at one of my clients in a confrontational manner, and accused them of ANYTHING, I would crap. One mistake, one petty argument can cost you $50,000 in business. Never do what Nathan and Mirando did. The proper way to handle it was to ask "how can you tell they are stale, or wow, bummer" something friendly at least. THEN, i went to get some apples to take on the drive to San Diego. 3 of them were bad. I bought them with these chips. So I called 2 other stores and told them this whole story. THEY BOTH PLED WITH ME TO BRING THE ITEMS TO THEIR STORE. This is the way to do business. I personally would not know how to deal with these two individuals. I wouldn't know where to start. I think sitting face to face in the office I would say "what exactly were you thinking about how this was going to help our local reputation when we just moved here across from a chain grocery store ?" Stater Brothers will have a field day with this. They might offer me a reward and a trip to Cancun.... Competition is rough. Never treat a customer, no matter what your problem is, rude. Just take it in stride. Smile. Say "of course we honor our return policy. Yes we need to know what's stale in the store." Then you'll not create a mess you have to defend and live down for months or years to come. Cause we all know, this is not an isolated event. The employees here are very friendly, much more than the average grocery store. The fruit quality is excellent. Most of all, this may be the safest local business in the area of COVID-19. Even before the CA Legal Mask Mandate, this business was steadfast in refusing entry of customers who were not wearing masks. Many local businesses are still failing in this regard. The receipt says Returns are gladly accepted with a receipt within 30 days of purchase for a full cash refund (or credit ) I spent $53.o5at the store on Thursday December 2, 2021. The $4.99 Straus Organic Ice cream was just ice, no cream. The Marie Calender Cherry Pie had been defrosted and refrozen. I brought both Items back to the store on December 5, 2021. Kari Maloney, the owner, refused to accept the return. So she lies in print. She does not care about customers health or well being. She greedily takes $9.98 for garbage that should not be offered for sale. It is especially wrong to cheat EBT customers on a limited budget. read more

**BUYER BE AWARE OWNER/MANAGER LEAVES STALE AND RANCID PRODUCTS ON THEIR SHELVES** Wow. I became Yucca Valley's most wanted criminal today by shopping at the Grocery Warehouse. I stopped in to purchase my weekly groceries. When I came up to the check stand, I gave the cashier 2 containers of biscotti., priced at $2.99. Telling the cashier that those two items are old and rancid tasting and should be removed from their store shelves. From there, everything went down hill. The cashier called the store Owner/Manager to come and talk with me. Then, the Cashier called me a thief and threatened to call the police. I tried to explain to her that their biscotti biskets where stale and they should not be sold to anyone. It will make someone sick. The Cashier continued to call me a thief and was yelling to their Customer's that I had stolen food from them.I had robbed them of the sale of the package of open biscotti. She never addressed the rancid food they where selling. I agreed to pay, but told her that it was really not necessary to pay for something that is rancid and that I would just return them back to the for a refund. At this time the Cashier said that they would not allow a refund on anything opened in the store. However, they do not allow refunds on food that left the store either. I had this come up in the past, but I felt it was immaterial and blew it off, at that time. Now I am being assaulted by Cashier and she is yelling out to the Customer's that I was stealing food, while I attempted to walk away from this bad situation. When I left the store without ANYTHING. I was pushed and shoved by 2 seperate store employees. They followed me outside threatening me that they will call the police and report a crime. I was humiliated and afraid and went into the Dollar General store to get away from their harrassment and abuse. A few minutes later, while I was standing in line at the check out counter inside the Dollar General store the Gorcery Warehouse Owner/Manager and the cashier came into the Dollar General store and told me that I had to go back into the Grocery Warehouse store to settle the robbery, by paying for the package I had opened and took I bite. The package could no longer be sold, because it was opened. Not that it was unfit to be sold. I left willingly with them, but as I walked out the Grocery Warehouse Owner /Manager; proceeed to tell all of the Dollar General Customers that I had just robbed them and I could not be trusted shopping in their store. The Owner/Store Manager put the rancid/stale package of biscotti biskets back on the store shelves to be sold to another unexpecting Customer. She than proceeded to tell me that they are not a tasting store and I had to pay for the package I opened. I agree again, to pay, however; I would still insist to have a refund for the purchase of rancid food. The Owner/Manager refused to work with me and than she begain to vedio taped me as I walked out of the store. They again tried to block the doorway with threats to call the police. I had to call the police myself to try to stop the harassment. The Owner/ Manager of Grocery Warehouse and her trusty Cashier followed me out to my car. Attempting to block me from getting inside. I was so scared and humiliated I was really shocked when I was able to get into my car. Locking it imeadately. As I began to talk to the police dispatcher. I filed a harrassment report with the sheriff's office against the store Owner/Manager. This is VERY....VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was being helpful and tried to warn them of a rancid food on their shelves. They just DID NOT CARE. They bought the product and it did not sell fast enough and now they will just leave it on their shelves for someone else to suffer the loss instead of themselves. BEWARE THEY WILL NOT GIVE REFUNDS AND iF THEY do. They will degrade you and tell you must have done something to cause it product to be faulty. AVOID THIS STORE. ok e opened package. Be rest assured that they want to sell the food they purchase for resale, no matter if it is rancid or stale. They don't honor returns. *I like the concept of the store, like Big lots, they get a lot but it may not be there next week. I like the fact that I see a lot of seniors working the Cashiers; they always seem friendly. Their prices are very good for most items. Lately though...more times than not, there is something wrong with at least one of the items in my shopping bag once I get them home, whether it be broken seals, expired foods and I found spider webs at the bottom of my roasted almonds bag too (must have happened at the plant because the seal was not broken and they were not expired) Scary to say I think outside vendors take advantage of these discount stores and try to sell them anything and I am sure the buyers aren't the brightest bulbs on the lot so they buy it. I tried calling Grocery Outlet's corporate Office who said "we're sorry each store is independently owned, we will try to reach out to them and leave them a note". The store manager I had to deal with seemed to have no customer service experience. I tried to return a $10 bag of walnuts that were expired and I mentioned to the young manager "Lela" these are expired and taste rancid and she said "no one else has complained and I am not going to return your money just because you find them disgusting" I said "I did not say disgusting I said they are rancid and expired and you can not sell expired food" She said, " leave my store or I am going to call the authorities". Mind you I am just a 65-year-old senior citizen trying to manage my time in this Covid-19 environment and it took a lot for me to return to the store and try to return these walnuts. I went a week later to see the expired food still on the shelf, amazing! I found it odd that Yelp was not factoring in at least 5 of the negative reviews (they are listed under not recommended) and there are 9 total but given a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Meh. I've spoken with other shoppers and we often find it difficult to find the bargains in this "Bargain Market". Once in a while, yes. But hit and miss. DO NOT BUY PRODUCE FROM THE YUCCA VALLEY GROCERY OUTLET. New manager stated they do not guarantee their produce, though nothing I could find says produce, nor anything else, is sold "as is" nor "all sales final". Every other store in the area guarantees their produce. And the produce is NOT much cheaper than the supermarkets, it's pricier than the major competing local discount store, and the selection is smaller. So, not worth the risk. The new manager doesn't know the first thing about customer service. The staff is friendly, but the new manager undermines the goodwill. Meh. read more

My friend and I LOVE grocery outlet!! He shops here a few times a week and always brings home lots of new and interesting items. I love that they carry plenty of vegan options, and a nice selection of organic produce. Since grocery outlet came to town, I have not stepped foot in Walmart (14 months now since my last dreaded Walmart visit). Grocery outlet is less crowded, they have a very friendly and helpful staff, and it's clean. I've not only purchased food items here but also clothing, household items, etc. I won't shop anywhere else other than the health food store for a few vegan items that grocery outlet does not carry. Deborah was sweet as pie and had amazing customer service skills! I dread going to stater brothers because all of the employee are so rude and act like they hate their lives! Everytime I go to grocery outlet bargain market I always have a pleasant experience and walk out with a smile on my face especially this time. She bagged my groceries with lovely organization, made nice conversation and was genuine and sincere, made a personal connection, and even walked my bags around the counter for me.
