I never mind stopping in at Vons, Its is vibrant store in the Kern River valley always busy. Vons is staffed by friendly locals It features a Starbucks outstanding deli, bakery, produce, meat, non foods liquor and grocery departments. The store supports many local activities in the valley. If you haven't shopped at Vons stop in give the a try. They also had a sale on our favorite ice cream.

When I put them in a bowl, half of them were moldy. The lettuce was brown inside when I split in half. Bag of potatoes several were rotten. Went to Vons at 8 pm, no baskets, they were being used to block off a section in store. The cashier told me to look in the parking lot (I'm 70 yrs). No customer service. No milk (sale) re stocked. 3 heads of lettuce (all bad). No frozen veggies were restocked (on a Wednesday when the sale deals should be stocked). These incidents have occurred in the last 3 wks at the Vons in Lake Isabella.

Gals said 25 minutes so we drove into Kernville checked out the mighty Kern River before we headed back to Charlie's They were slicing our pie as I entered, perfect timing. The 8 mile drive up Hwy 155 to our cabin was tough because Charlie's pizza smelled so good. It didn't disappoint lots of cheese,veggies, sausage, hamburger, pepperoni, it was outstanding and had enough for another delicious meal. Check out Charlie's kitchen you won't be disappointed

Well folks, turns out it's a "census-designated place" (not even a town, how about that!!) near Lake Isabella with a population of just 1956, as of the 2010 Census. If you're still lost, it's approximately 32 miles (That's ALL it was?) east-northeast of Bakersfield, up in the mountains. Now I'm sure you are asking "what were you doing there?" Yes I was wondering the same thing. LOL I went to look at (and buy) a vintage washing machine and this is where it was... out in the boonies! They have plenty of restrooms right across from it. They are very knowledgable of the area, offer fishing licenses, some camping and fishing gear, plenty of snacks, propane, ice, gift-shop, drinks, beer, lotto, Shell gasoline and other items. It is also very clean and the people I have encountered working the counter have always been very welcoming and friendly.

It really speaks volumes about the place, because in actuality nobody really knows where Bodfish is, or has even heard of it. The store as a drive-thru (something I've never seen at a convenience store, but is kind of genius), and the two employees working there were super nice.
