After thirteen years my dog got band from the store today. I get it, some people let their dogs run around in the carts and that isn't any good. but mine is five pounds and in a carrier, it's not rubbing its butt on anything or dragging its balls through the store. Why don't you pick on the FAT PEOPLE using up the disabled parking. They should be parking in the back and WALKING. I have been shopping here 24 years even through the strike, I didn't go to Isabella market. until today it was FIVE STARS. I will still get what I need, just a whole lot less. Not all employee are bad, but you have a few. It's a small town and they pick and choose who they want to be nice with. I've delt with some of the older employees, not so much the woman but the old gentleman. They don't respond when you tell them about a product that might of been open. I this the white guy named Brian in produce has said some racial comments, Peter, the slim guy with the feather for an earring and long hair has talked bad about customers in front of other customers as they're checking out. I'll do my best to stay out of this place. DUG is probably the best thing about this store, the employee, younger peeps, are nice. I don't get no attitude, no matter how busy DUG is. You guys are the best. Can't say much for the employees inside. The deli moves slow and sometimes seem like they don't want to be there. Lisa is nice, Lori has been helpful. We had to stop at Vons in lake Isabella we needed ice cream, I forgot to pack it. We're headed up to our cabin in Alta Sierra for St. Patrick's weekend. I never mind stopping in at Vons, Its is vibrant store in the Kern River valley always busy. Vons is staffed by friendly locals It features a Starbucks outstanding deli, bakery, produce, meat, non foods liquor and grocery departments. The store supports many local activities in the valley. I'm disappointed with this Vons, I've tried to be understanding about the quality of food. Recently, I bought raspberries, and I went home to freeze them. When I put them in a bowl, half of them were moldy. The lettuce was brown inside when I split in half. Bag of potatoes several were rotten. Went to Vons at 8 pm, no baskets, they were being used to block off a section in store. The cashier told me to look in the parking lot (I'm 70 yrs). No customer service. No milk (sale) re stocked. 3 heads of lettuce (all bad). No frozen veggies were restocked (on a Wednesday when the sale deals should be stocked). THURSDAY OCTOBER 3, 2024 @ 10:30 AM, BEN is working at cash register #2 and was extremely rude as was the girl bagging groceries for him. He waited for me to load all of my groceries onto the belt and then put the 'closed' sign up on the belt. He says, "Sorry," as the girl bagging groceries chuckled. Vons in Lake Isabella . For the cashier employee named Peter. I asked him a question if I could pay my electric bill. He said he did not know which was really rude. He would not ask his manager he just left me in the dust. He was very disrespectful. When I shop there I always get somebody that is very kind and considerate and respectful. I don't know if he was having a bad day but that was so unnecessary. And he didn't care. Bring an attitude to work I hope his manager sees this. Had another bad experience..bought bread that was expired by two weeks, the manager is obviously not doing his job right. Never get greeted by cashiers and one older bagger with glasses was on his break just staring me down the entire time I checked out and on my way in he was on his break and almost bumped into me because he had to walk in front of me with coffee if I hadn't stopped to let him go before me he would of bumped into me and collided. The hot coffee would of spilt on me. I felt completely harassed by that and the staring. We had a two day get away from San Diego . We stayed at the KOA down the road (11 miles) and I knew Vons would have exactly what I needed, and then some. I thought I packed the essentials- obviously I didn't. I forgot a small fry pan- and we made the mistake of going to James Sierra Gateway Market. Since that market is a mile away from KOA- we just snagged a cookie pan sheet to use on the stove top burners (to cook our carne asada) and also used that cookie sheet on the fire pit to heat up our tortillas. The next day, we did stop by this Vons- and in Aisle 14- kitchenware- you will find a decent selection of pans/ pots/ cookie sheets/ Pyrex, utensils, etc. There's a Starbucks inside- bathrooms- tons of selections of groceries. I'm a big fan of their hot food items and decided on an 8 piece mixed fried chicken for $6.99!! Just grabbed a small tub of deviled egg potato salad and some beer- life was good!! As for customer service, the young man in the butcher section said hello- and my cashier was friendly. read more

I have been a Vons customer in LA for 30 yeads since it was nearby and easy to navigate. The prices were always high bit high but you could get most of the things you were looking for. The employees and managers are just as friendly and helpful as my old store. And now that I am in a much smaller area, it's comforting to have a familiar store brand here where I feel welcome and cared for. I enjoy their deli and bakery with items that remind me of 'home.' I also like the convenience of a broad selection of items. But inventory is quickly depleted and the produce is not quite as fresh here. Inflation is noticeable, too, so I find myself shopping elsewhere to save a little money. read more

Sunday, 7/23/23, 12:59, Express check out #1. On this day at the age of 69 I was carded by a teen aged checker who asks if I "mind showing her my ID" to which I replied: "yes, I do mind". Moments go by and she just stands there looking at me, "do I look under 21 to you"?, I inquired. She tells she can't sell me beer without ID, I reply that that's a first in my years of shopping here. Now she says " I need to see your ID", why? I ask, "because ABC is in town and she needs to varify that my ID has not expired". Meanwhile I'm getting some real bad vibes from the gentle lady behind me who valuable time in this back-water burg is being wasted by my discourse and inquiries. I show the checker my ID , she still stands there looking at me, "are you going to run my order now?" I ask. I paid my bill and loaded my cart while being sideways bad mouthed by my time-pressed line follower; a behavior I have encountered in this community before and absolutely loath. Questions: *Are teen aged Vons checkers now co-employed by the DMV to varify the expiration dates on customer CDLs? *If the young lady needed to see my ID so urgently then why dose my receipt say: AGE VARIFICATION BYPASSED? *Why dose my receipt say I bought three items when I only bought two items? *Am I to understand that VONS only checks IDs on questionably and non-questionably legal-aged beer buyers if the ABC is in town *Is it Vons policy to charge sales tax on snap purchases? I like this store. This is my go to grocery store when we come to our family cabin. It is fresh, clean and friendly. Their instocks are excellent for being so far away from a DC. Tonight the bakery clerk was really friendly and offered me hot French bread if I came back in just a few minutes. Other grocery stores around here tend to have issues with freshness/shelf life dates being out of code so I like that I can depend on this store. read more

As an employee of this store for 10+ years. I felt the need to the come on here and explain a few things that I have seen commented on here. For starters, many things that people complain about our out of our hands, we don't control hours or scheduling, do you think we enjoy being understaffed with people yelling at us constantly? You want a change in this, you need to harass Corporate, not the cashiers. The last two years I have seen a huge change with the Albertsons merger, they have cut hours so badly we can barely manage our day to day functions. Most of us try our best to provide "World Class Customer Service" which is what I was taught when I was hired, but corporate has us being pulled in so many directions it makes are job that much more difficult. For our store here in Lake Isabella, our "Inflated Prices" which again we have NO control over, come from the cost of having to ship supplies up here, this goes for every store in the valley, not just Vons. Stocking issues occur when Albertsons-Vons changes vendors or supply locations or there is high demand for a product, we order it and when it becomes available again we get. As for us employees being spoiled and entitled, most of us here are working our asses off to get a 40 hour work week job done on barely 24 hours. Most of us our paid extremely poor wages and have to have second jobs. Who I feel are entitled, is the whiny customers that think its ok to treat retail workers poorly and make our jobs that much harder. This is a pretty good-sized supermarket for the area in Lake Isabella. Even though the area is a little more secluded, they actually have this Vons stocked like any normal supermarket... including a pretty good organic and produce section. I noticed tons of different bread options and a large bakery section. Good salad selection too. This market has got you covered with all the essentials plus much more if you're in the area and staying/camping around these parts. read more

This Vons is so dreadful. The photo is of a cashier that was working Friday evening about 9pm on July 29th. This lady has been so rude to me on multiple occasions. Last night the store was busy and of course they only had 2 registers open. I walk up to one of the registers and just as I'm setting my stuff down on the belt, this employee THROWS the closed sign on the belt in front of me. I couldn't help but laugh out loud because her blatant bad attitude is embarrassing. I don't know why Vons employs this person because she is the worst. She threw down the closed lane sign when the other line is about 12 people deep, only to go outside for a cigarette. Gross. She could've helped a few customers before going to puff but nope, bad attitude always. This is like the 5th time she's done that to me. On the other hand, cashier Megan is great. Why can't this place hire more Megans and less hags?! Megan is the breath of fresh air this place desperately needs. I know it's Lake Isabella and the options are minimal but c'mon, there's gotta be another Megan out there somewhere. We are suffering! LOL read more

Some of the poorest customer service I have ever experienced. All the employees seems really depressed. I avoid this place mostly because of the huge lines everywhere. Sometimes I go in just to check how long the line is before I shop. Im not going to wait 20 minutes in line to buy some water. There are other markets you can shop at. The people who tolerate the none existent customer service dont seem to mind. I personally think the staff should go on strike and the customers should boycott the "market". read more

The attitudes of MANY of those checkers in that store are quite undesireable. I'd say about 3 of them make me go to a different line. This has been over 3 years, so my memory can only review today's specifically. About 11:30 a.m. that bxxxxx in the "quick check" on lane one was VERY UNHAPPY and I , I(underlined), OBVIOUSLY irritated the hell out of her. I had a kink or two in my process and when I sensed her tude re: me, I got more kinked and she STAYED DRIPPING WITH SNOT! I had TWO ITEMS ONLY and TRUE TO USUAL!!!! was charged the full price for something that had 30 percent off. She oozed sugar with the ONE (there were only TWO peple in her line - me and him) OTHER CUSTOMER behind me - " (Let me take care of him FIRST)" Me: "ok." Her, upon his departure, " Have a nice day sweetie!" Her with her calculator came up with owing me $1.38 which she disgustedly handed me. I just now figured on MY calculator. I guess mine is broken (???) because MINE came up with 30 percent off of $4.64 as $1.39!!! It happens EVERYTIME!!!~ The last hohoho-bag checker gave me tude as I made sure to point out the cake cost $6.99. SHE ALREADY KNEW!, unlike her YOUNG MAN CO-WORKER FROM THE TIME BEFORE!!! So sad I caught it! I COULD'A paid $14.99 instead! (assholes!) Ya gotta watch their EVERY MOVE - IN EVERY STORE and, but, IN LAKE ISABELLA ESPECIALLY!!!! Let me tell you about Kathy at the Deli in Lake Isabella. She belongs behind the scenes without any cash accountability! I came in this morning on the way home after visiting with my folks for the weekend. She never smiled during the entire transaction! She couldn't remember her password to access the POS register so she yelled out to her co-worker who who yelled back 5-4...something. Sharing passwords compromises the integrity of cash accountability. This should be grounds for disciplinary action, for both of them. Anyhow she did acknowledge the next customer...but failed to even utter a thank you to me. I parted with an enthusiastic thank you, have a good day. I don't mind going to Vons occasionally. The store is always clean. They usually have what I need. I will not complain about the prices, everything is going up. I did work for Trader Joe's, I know about customer service and pay rates. Regardless of working conditions, we were taught respect and politeness to the customers. Today I was disrespected by a cashier named Ed on the express check stand. My husband and I were very polite to him, just to receive total attitude and smart mouth from Ed. Shame on you. A well-known chain food store in the middle of a tourist destination. What a great idea! Prices are about the same as any other Vons I've been at. You need to watch out for expiration dates. I bought some expensive tomato puree and got home, it had expired in 2019. I also bought some rice crackers and they tasted funky. They expired Feb 2020. Not a good situation. Also, they had some very misstocked shelves - like the name tags and prices didn't match the actual products on the shelves. read more

This Vons is a hit or miss. Some employees are wonderful and really get to know the customers! Others are more frustrating to deal with. Variety is quite limited and if they run out of something it is typically out of stock for a while. Buying anything that isn't on sale feels like a rip off, but they do occasionally have some really great sales. read more

My how a few years changes things. I was there on the evening of 3/3/17 and spent 10 or 15 minutes in the express lane behind a Vons employee buying a multihundred dollar order that seemed to be stored in the cash register. We finally walked out, along with the couple behind us. Service has been getting worse and worse, but this is the end of the road. Wow, what can i say? When I first moved to Lake Isabella this was my go to store. Clean, fresh and customer service was okay. Now,? What happened to it? The deli is horrid. The salads do not look fresh, cole slaw is always dry as is the fried chicken. Never buy food from the deli! Not to mention the deli staff is always in the back talking and laughing in the back area while you are waiting at the counter. The vons employees used to be clean, now they look dirty with stains vons shirts and aprons. Some of them make me cringe when they talk to me. I worked in drug intervention for years, I know when someone is a meth head or junkie. This store obviously employs them by the handfull. It is sad to say, but this Vons store has gone completly down the drain over the few years I've been here. They need to get their stuff together before I shop there again.
