The library is small, and there is no real division between the children and adult section so it is LOUD. This is literally the loudest library I've ever been to, I couldn't focus on a thing. The security guard (or whatever she is) is even louder than the children. She shouts across the room to tell them to be quiet. Realllllly, who does that?? I can hear her conversations with people loud and clear across the room, from what she ate last night to the new clothes she's thinking about buying. What's more I cant take a sip of water at the table, not close to any computers or books, but the kids running around, and people on their phones talking rather loudly aren't told a thing. This place is a ZOO. A spot for parents to dump their kids after school and have a free babysitter. And the book collection is deplorable. Don't bother trying to find anything to read in here. There needs to be a true dedicated quiet study/reading zone in this library. I mean is that too much to ask for? It's a library for goodness sake. If we can't have that then encourage the use of inside voices, Jesus.

E four computers per table section but now it's two per table. I think there is 8 near the adult mystery section. There was two in the teen room, but of course if your not. Teen you can't really be there. They do holds like other libraries but unlike others you don't have to call to pick it up. I travel from my hometown because I've been having issues with pick up. Basically the computer will say I have a hold available for pick up but when I try and schedule a pick up it says I don't. Dah I've complained numerous times but the problem persists so I'll travel by bus to mamaroneck and pick up my items till they decide to allow people in. But I never have problems with mamaroneck. In fact I just attended their first zoom coloring class for an hour. I miss coloring in person but it was fun but they are only doing it once a month.

Upon the town's drastic budget changes and the amount it time for this building to be built you'd…read morelike something wonderful would be inside....but no. - when you enter, you will give your books in but they will not check them in immediately - the librarians are loud and will rush you off to another section - the children's room is covered in fabric which is known to carry germs longer. it also has over 6 foot tall bookcases in a children's room. there is also no bathroom nearby - the bathroom is in the basement. near rooms that are used for nothing. frequently you'll find people hanging out down here for no reason. Lastly, these librarians are not nice. The word "hello" is easy to say but it's not said here. They've replaced the head staff twice and no one is friendly. From a more personal point of view, I think this town tried to make a library that would match NYC standards in a town that doesn't care as much about a library as Rye or Larchmont does. The front steps even manage to flood when it rains. I would like to see this library improve but it would cost the town too much money.

This NYPL branch gets 5 stars for the building and its resources, and 2 for customer service/ease…read moreof use. I believe it's the Bronx's biggest branch--its 5 stories include a children and teen floor, space for concerts, film screenings and other events, a huge circulating collection, outdoor reading terrace, and many tables and chairs at which to read or study. The books are neatly kept and there are many more sections to peruse than at other branches. This is also one of the few locations in the Bronx at which you can apply for an ID NYC card. That being said, the flow of helping patrons is abysmal. I had an appointment to apply for my ID NYC card this morning that I arrived on time for. The office is on the 5th floor. When I reached it, I was ordered by a cantankerous security guard to stand in a specific spot. When I wasn't at the precise spot where she wanted me, she made a rude gesture to indicate that to me. Other applicants were complaining in Spanish behind her back about what a high and mighty b-word she was, so I guess it wasn't personal at least. I was eventually given a pager and was told I could wait on any other floor until I was called. After an hour of waiting (with an appointment!) and no page, I went back up to ask how much longer it would be. An apologetic worker told me to wait behind the first woman in line and said I would be seen shortly. Of course the security guard had a problem with me standing where I was told and put me in the back of the line despite my explanation of what the other worker had told me to do. Five minutes later, the other worker comes out and tells me I'm standing at the back and I should be in front. Can y'all make up your minds?!?! Once I was seen the process took all of five minutes. Ugh. Afterward, I decided to check out a book that I'd picked up while waiting. There were two librarians at the circulation desk and about five patrons ahead of me in line, so I figured it shouldn't take more than maybe two minutes. I have no idea why it took ten minutes; I felt like I was at the post office. All this to say, please demand to your city and state legislators not to cut library funds!! They are an amazing resource when they can operate on more than a shoestring budget. There's little point in having a beautiful shiny new building if it's not able to help patrons because it's understaffed. You can't just give a community this space if you aren't going to train its staff to actually help people.

The branch offers many programs and opportunities to the community, such as a chess program, a knitting group, a toddler program, a teen program, and so much more. There's also the obvious - a wide selection of books available for all ages ranging from children to teens to adults because READING REALLY IS FUNDAMENTAL!!! There are also computers available for public use with appointments available and even training for those who need assistance. The public is assisted and supported with excellent customer service by a talented, dedicated staff. The branch is also partially wheelchair accessible. Every so often, NYPL merch is available to help support your local library like tote bags or t-shirts. They also have limited edition library cards like Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and Marvel's Spider Man. Stop by to show your support, read, and/or borrow a book!

The adult section is roomy and has lots of books but Im so disappointed that they don't carry a little of my favorite authors . I stop by a fee times a month and search the entire adult section and sometimes happen to find a book that will interest me. I am willing to try different authors and books so I usually will get 4 to 5 books only to find that 1 or sometimes 2 are to my liking. I even asked for a particular book several months ago and i never heard from them either telling me the book was there or that they were unable to get it. I have lived in this neighborhood for over 35 years and this has always been my go to branch. The employees ate always helpful, friendly and professional and are great if i need any other help other than finding my favorite authors.

The selection of books are pretty decent, but if a book or reading material are at another branch, they can always be reserved and picked up at a different location. And that's what I did so I Stopped by one day to pick up a book that was on reserve and there was a jazz concert going on. Stayed for the 1 hr show, which was a nice surprise. Asked the manager to advertise on Facebook because it was a nice treat for FRee, and more neighborhood people should have attended.... Hope there are more events held there in the future
