It's a quintessential Bronxville institution, but seems to have a broader number of users than just Bronxville itself.

I was able to buy 6 or 7 hard cover children's books for $10. They accept Zelle if you don't have cash! The main library is on the second floor. They have a spacious children's section with some seating. Employees were quick to ask if I needed help. They have a monthly calendar of events with something scheduled just about every day. In order to get a library card, you have to be a resident of the specific town or city where the library is located. So in this case, you have to live in Eastchester to get a card here. However, once you have a library card for a Westchester library, you can use it in any library in the county.

If the workers are providing a service to the community and the library doesn't close until 2pm (which they are getting paid until) then why am ai being told areas are closed at 1:43pm. I had enough time to grab my book quickly and check out, get out of their way. Instead, it became a problem to the women that check out the books and the lady next to her, I believe she receives the returns (lady with curly puffy hair ). This is ridiculous. I suggest you guys update your hours so this isn't a future problem or get workers who actually stay their whole hour shift.

With a nice selection of books, periodicals, and videos, this location serves the community extremely well. Clean, free Wi-Fi, and a great staff that really cares about the library (especially as they try to find additional revenue after budget cuts due to the bad economy), the Baychester Library is an important partner in this community.

I actually prefer this one to the Midtown library on 42nd n 5th ave as that one gets packed with homeless, stinky and crazy people on the computer/laptop floors. Since it's so big security sometimes might take a while before spotting the disturbance. It also doesn't feel as clean. This one, since it's fairly new looks pretty clean and if you have kids they have a children's only floor with computers with games and books for children. The only problem with this Bronx Library as with most NYC public libraries is that you get the occassional homeless guys or guys that talk to themselves on the computer floors, but they do have security on each floor making sure that people keep it quiet and don't disturb others. They also have an auditorium and have events there, which I haven't seen it.

It's a library…read more Can't say how many hours I suffered as a kid in here doing projects. Then again as a teenager looking for books to do projects. Been coming here since the early 1980's and whether I worked at a desk inside or borrowed a book, they always had what I needed - I have to admit that, even though at the time (as a kid) I despised the library. Came here intermittently now and then to look for a book here and there, but did notice this place did give itself a facelift internally more than once over the years. Looks much better in both the adult and the children section than it did when my young(ER) self inhabited here. Been coming here a lot more recently so my son can take books out for his daily reading assignments from school. They have most of what he has been looking for and despite the area being a children's section, it's decently maintained. The kid's area has computers for them to use and even a play area for the toddlers. It's not as quiet as it used to be when I was told to "shhhhhhh" long ago. Times have changed. They have music and dvds (for both child and parent) you can borrow if you choose to - kind of reminds me of the decade ago and beyond movie rental business. Of course the books for both are plentiful. Staff has been friendly and helpful. They do have plenty of parking, but at certain times - especially after the 5pm hour - they have gatherings or classes here and the parking lot becomes massively full. For the parents who like to blame the library for not having a book that the local school assigned to their child - blame the school since they assigned 1 book title for over 30 kids. That's happened before and I usually just save myself the trouble and buy the book. Last year I heard a parent yelling at someone in there for not having the book - not the library's fault if someone else got there first and checked it out. Overall a great library in the area. Certainly worth your time.

I take my granddaughter for story time every Tuesday morning. She is 20 months old and she loves it! The staff aims to please. After enrolling my granddaughter for story time, they called me the night before it was due to start to remind us.
