I love this place! I probably eat here once a week and typically sit at the bar with my hubby. We prefer sitting at the bar for the quick service and to avoid screaming kids. Service provided by the bartenders is usually good but I will say there are some bartenders that I prefer over others. At the end of the day, I could really care less about the service because I love the food. It is my style of tex mex. I am one of those tex mex eaters that need to have red AND green sauce with my chips. This place is just perfect in my book. I know that the GM has a lot to do with why I like this place so much. He looks like he is ex-military always walking around inspecting and he obviously runs a tight ship. The only reason why I bring up the GM is because I use to eat at the Stafford location all the time and it was good but after dinning at the Rosenberg location multiple times and then going back to Stafford, ugh - food was, well, gross. The food didn't seem as fresh and the green sauce was warm. Also, I ate at the new Cypress location by my mom's house bragging about how great Gringo's is and to and I have to say, we really didn't like to food there either. I think what really got me about the Cypress location is that there chips are WAY TOO GREASY, red salsa is too peppery and the fajita meat was just different. I am glad to see Gringo's expanding their locations but the fact that the food at each location is different makes me think twice about eating at a different location.... Yummy... If you don't mind waiting on Friday or Saturday nights! We go about once ever two weeks and I usually order the seafood enchiladas. They are so good and flavorful! The flautas are awesome, too. Hubbs usually gets the bacon wrapped shrimp and always finishes his plate. Son gets the kid's cheese quesadilla and those are pretty good. Oscar is always amazing and evertime we go to Gringos we ask for his section. Very good food and we love the service when we get Oscar. When he is not there, the service is ok and the quality is above ok. He stands apart because we have been going there for so long he knows our order, and he always checks it for us and pays attention to detail. We use to love Gringo's until they changed and ruined their Green sauce. Use to be thick and creamy and nice. Now it's watery and way to spicy. It may save them money since it's not good anymore but not a good business move. Service still friendly and fast. First off let me mention that my wife used to work at this specific location. With that being said, I want to share with you on how their management holds their team to a high standard every single day/night. My wife always mentions to me on how serious they are about giving their customers a 5 star service. She always states what would happen if "x, y, or z" were to happen and how they would handle it urgently and with quality care. This is just some info on the staff's expectations from an past waitress. Now from a customer's view. We always get acknowledged every time we walk into this location by the host/hostess on if we have a dine-in or take-out. Than the waiters/waitress always are on top of being socialable, checking for refills on drinks and chips, and are quick with bringing out our food. Managers love to walk by asking how our experience is and if we have everything we need. One manager I have to shine on is Armando. He is always greeting us every time he sees us and if there ever is a mistake he is quick to get it taken care of on top of the other 100 things he's doing. I have eaten at this Gringos 2-3 times. I ate there for lunch yesterday (Monday - 12/3/12). As usual, the food and service was AMAZING. The hostess greeted us at the door with a smile and took us right to our table. The server was friendly, accommodating and efficient. I order the Pollo Loco and my girlfriend had chicken fajitas. We also had queso as an appetizer. Everything was hot, fresh and tasted great. The server dropped the check and took care of it quickly. She thanked us and invited us back. The hostess actually opened the door as we left. GREAT SERVICE! I will say that across Houston, Gringo's is inconsistent. I have eaten at a few other locations and the food was not near as good and the service was just ordinary. The managers at this location are obviously doing it right. Best Mexican food for the best price in Houston. The city's hometown Mexican restaurant. Their green sauce beats everyone else's green sauce. Their fajitas as not only wonderful but decently priced as well. Their salsa is not too spicy but still has the right kick. I've been to several different Gringo's, but tonight's experience kicked it up a notch with the excellent customer service by Ben. He was on top of things and made sure to get our order just right. I really wish this was a one to 100 scale. They are better than a 80. More like an 90 or a 4.5 but not 100 We have been to the Rosenberg location many times and have always enjoyed the food. The take out is even better at times because of the popularity and the crowd at this location. You cannot stir them with a stick most nights after 5:30 pm. The cheese dip is great along with the chips. The green and red sauce is unique and great. Service is always good to very good. Their price is very good for the food quality and quantity. We have pretty well stopped driving to Sugar Land to eat at papasitos for many reasons. The bottom line is we like Papasitos but they have gotten very proud of their food and Mexican food is just not that complicated or expensive. I don't go around thinking I will review chain restaurants but Gringos has the right food, service, price and attitude to get my attention. We went in for lunch on January 30 2019 and my wife's chalupas came out wrong. My wife likes the ones with pulled pork and avocados, they came out without the Avocados and my wife told the server, turns out they did not have the pork either. They were just plain Chalupas . Now this is where the Attitude and service I am talking about came into play. The waiter recognized the mistake and got the replacement plate out in less than 2 minutes. Two others came to check on us and ganged our table to fill tea and chips and to get back on track. That behavior is not by accident, they have been trained to make things happen and quick. This is a credit to the whole organization from the top down. The food is consistently good and the attitude is right. By the way my food was very good. Even though they call themselves a Mexican food restaurant I would say this is more Tex-Mex but they have very good food. I tried the chili ground beef enchiladas and they were yummy. The queso loco is delicious and is what keeps me coming back continuously. The get in line APP is great, so convenient and very accurate. The only thing about this place is the service.... always so slow. I think they might assign to many tables per waiter because they come take your order and never see them again after you get your food. But I'll still go back again for that queso! read more

My hubby and I love this place and the location on Southwest Freeway. The atomsphere is lively and the food is good. Service can be slow at times but they are always kind and courteous. How have I not written a review for this place?!? I'm here 2-3 times a month and these guys are consistently on top of it. The food is ALWAYS piping hot when it comes out. Sometimes I've had a waiter that will forget about me, but over the years I've learned if you treat them as people and not just your server you get better service. Been here many times before. I ordered takeout fajitas and when I got home I was upset because I had no tortillas. I called the store and the manager was AWESOME! She was empathetic with my lack of tortillas for my fajitas. She is mailing me a giftcard and she called the Sugar Land location to let us pick up tortillas for free (we live closer to the Sugar Land location). This store has great customer service. This is my absolute favorite Mexican food place. I prefer it over Escalantes. I love everything on their menu. I can't think of one thing bad to say. Waitstaff is very attentive. Chip/salsa guy is always there. Hostesses are friendly. It is always busy so expect to wait. I like the new addition in which to sit outside. Too bad there isn't an outdoor bar!! You have lots of luck seating for two than larger groups but we always wait. If they tell you it will be 20 min it is usually 10-15. It's loud inside but controllable, unlike other establishments where the noise just resonates. Love the bar area. I like sitting in there when there are only two of us but beware, it's always packed at the bar!
