I came here with some friends to have a picnic and watch the sunset, and it was a really nice place for it. You get great views of the Schuylkill River along with the Philly skyline, and the sunset was beautiful from here. There's also a basketball court and easy access to the riverwalk, which is perfect for biking, running, or just taking a walk along the water. Overall, it's a nice little outdoor spot in the city to relax, hang out with friends, or enjoy the views.

Admittedly Newbie camper here, but BF seasoned one. Came to French Creek with 21' travel trailer…read moreand Toyota truck. We chose a site in Loop C with only an electric hookup. The site in Loop C was horrible. The asphalt pad was super narrow and uneven and very difficult to back into even for my seasoned companion. The road in front was also narrow and the grassy area we needed to pull into to back in the site led to a ditch. This left our truck barely within the site and our trailer listing to the right despite all efforts to level. The campsite itself was big enough but 3/4 was covered with large rocks, so unusable. We were hard pressed to get 3 chairs around the fire pit. Driving around I noticed yurts, cabins and cottages and nice, level, full hookup sites. The campsites are rather close together so if you are looking for privacy, look elsewhere. The bath house was fine, and plenty of dump stations and water. Only a couple "easy" trails and those were also filled with rocks and tree branches so difficult for new hikers to enjoy the scenery-- at least for me. Awoke this morning to gunfire from hunters in nearby woods! Again, maybe normal but spooked this newbie. As for amenities there are none. No place in park to buy food or necessities. Go to Birdsboro for everything you need before you settle in.

While scrolling social media, I saw someone casually mention Sweet Arrow Lake as a place to find a…read morewaterfall in Central PA. A waterfall? Within 45 minutes of my house? Excuse me?! That was all I needed. Immediately added to the Sunday adventure list. I planned my visit for a mid-March Sunday, right after a hearty pre-St. Patrick's Day brunch (and cocktail), because if I was going to go chasing waterfalls, I might as well do it properly fueled and slightly festive. Getting there was super easy with Google Maps, and parking was plentiful all around the lake. Since it was my first visit, I parked near the clubhouse and set out to explore. Bathrooms were locked for the season, but there were portajohns available...which I respectfully chose to ignore and simply hoped for the best. It was about 50°, cloudy, and windy, but that didn't stop people from being out and about. There were families, walkers, and a surprisingly intense group of disc golfers launching discs through the air like they had something to prove. I heard multiple rounds of "HEAD'S UP!" and just accepted that at any moment I could become part of the game. Even with the number of people there, it never felt crowded. The park is big enough that you can easily find your own little peaceful corner and pretend you're out in nature alone...minus the occasional flying disc. This is definitely more of a walk than a hike, which honestly matched my post-brunch energy level perfectly. The paths are a mix of paved trails and well-worn walking routes, with plenty of options to wander depending on how far you feel like going. The lake itself was gorgeous in that moody, dramatic way that makes you feel like you're in a very calm, slightly emotional movie scene. There was someone fishing from a kayak, a few people along the shoreline, and just enough quiet to make it feel relaxing despite the wind. I came for the waterfall, though. And I heard it before I saw it. "I can hear water!" I announced (again, to no one in particular) as I followed the Waterfall Trail like I was on some sort of mission. And when I finally got there...totally worth it. The waterfall was beautiful. It might be partially man-made, but honestly, I do not care. It's water. It's falling. It's peaceful. It's a win! As I walked around, I kept thinking how perfect this place would be for a picnic once the weather warms up. There are so many great spots to throw down a blanket, snack, and pretend you're the kind of person who has their life together enough to plan outdoor picnics. Sweet Arrow Lake is easy to get to, easy to park, easy to walk, and very family-friendly. There's nothing wildly over-the-top here beyond the waterfall, but that's kind of the point. It's a solid, peaceful place to get outside, get some steps in, and enjoy a view that you don't come across every day in Central PA. And honestly? For a spontaneous "there's a waterfall 45 minutes away" adventure...I'd say that's a pretty great return on investment!

Just to keep the history lesson short, it was built by York County in 2007 and it is one of a series of ten overlooks that are at different points in the county all of which give views of the Susquehanna River. susquehannariverlands.com/the-great-outdoors/scenic-overlooks/highpoint-scenic-vista-rec-area/ The set up is fairly simple. There is a small parking lot at the base of the overlook on Hilt Road. At the base there is a picnic bench and a port-a-blaster along with some literature about York County parks/area trails. From there it's up and around the trail which is a 1/2 mile loop with five way point stops that I guess are made to have you appreciate the view from different angles? At the top the view is very nice. It's literally the same as if you were over at Samuel S. Lewis State Park except that now you're two-ish miles closer to the river. The overlook from Samuel S. Lewis is higher and is visible from here and the top of the vista here is very visible from Sam Lewis. We were here around 35 minutes and the parking lot was packed but people were at different point of the incline and on other trails nearby so things never felt cramped or rushed. While I'm not necessarily sure that this place needs a return visit, I'm glad we came and I appreciate David putting this one on my/everyone's Yelp radar as it is a unique spot worth a brief stop.

When I saw that I threw our cup away. The water tasted to me like spicket water with a funny after taste like pottstown water, not even purified water that has been treated to drink. Just seemed to be the lazy way of making lemonade. Just BLAH. Between this park and Trexler Park it's hard to decide which is better because each one offers a lot. At Cedar Beach you're talking four basketball courts, four volleyball courts, a half mile walking trail around Lake Muhlenberg, various picnic pavilions and of course the star of the show; the 1900 square foot destination playground which is one of the finest in the area even if some things after almost six years are starting to show their age like a few of the swings that are currently missing, but I digress. Not everything is what it could be with Cedar Pool being closed all last year due to a leak but at least it's not like in the 80's and 90's when Canadian Geese overran the park and made everything a giant cesspool of goose shit to the point that city would capture hundreds or even thousands of birds a year and truck them to other states. articles.mcall.com/1987-06-23/news/2570803_1_geese-goose-population-migratory-birds But, between the pool, the playground, the sport courts, the variety of trees and the rose garden across the street it's truly a beautiful place.

It is really nice, lots of water features and a newer playground within it. My kids were entertained and could have stayed all day.
