Needed a smog check for registration and for 20 bucks these guys did it in like one minute, no wait. Was nice cause I also got to fill up my tank because it's a gas station, and I noticed they had a place to do mechanics so I asked them to look at my tires. Less Schwab told me my tires were older, and the side walls were cracking, which was causing a leak and I needed new tires which was like two grand for my truck. I didn't tell these guys that, I just asked them to check and the guy said your tires are good. Do you still have miles left? You just have a nail in one tire and for 25 bucks will plug it right now. These guys have been here since the 1920s and it's refreshing to see nice people who perform a good service for a fair price, not somebody trying to sell me a set of tires and take advantage of the situation. My bf's fambam uses Grimm for all their automotive needs. The bf was outta town and one of my headlights out kaput short after! of course- when it rains it pours- I get pulled over the same day for that very reason! -_- Needing to pick him up at the airport in the wee hours of the night, I didn't want to chance getting pulled over again because my little heart just can't take it no mo! Grimms was the first place I thought of. I headed over with my headlight bulbs I purchased elsewhere and asked them if it was something they could do and BAM! I had my LED Headlights replaced twice and both times they did the correct replacement and charged a lower amount than three other places as I compared price and all others wanted to take off my front end to reach the headlights but only Grimm said they could go in thru the side and not have to remove front end and that saved us hundreds of dollars. others wanted three hours shop rate and Grimm did it in one hour. We are older folks and had to wait for the repair so they brought out two clean chairs and placed them outside in a shady area and keep checking on us to make sure we where ok as it was over 90 degrees on September 2nd 2020 Thank you Mark and Team you are the best. Over the years I have had work done on all my cars which includes a Lexus 300, two BMW Z4s, Jaguar XJ8 and a Mazda Miata. They understand all these cars and they can repair just about any vehicle. Their work is timely and very affordable. I'd like to give extra high marks to Tim who recently replaced a complete center console on my Z4 . It's a complicated task and he did a fantastic job removing the old one and and reconnecting all, the wiring, etc on the new one. I had used this shop once before and was mostly pleased. Just got an oil change and some other minor repair. When the time came for something a little more substantial, I called about a week in advance to specify what parts I wanted replaced, to arrange the date, and to make sure that there would be no hiccups as I lived about 40 minutes away. I brought my car in the day of the appointment to be met by the same guy with whom I spoke on the phone. He first told me that they had not ordered the parts as I had requested, because "he forgot to." I explained that I was willing to let them keep the car, as they had promised me use of one of their loaners and I could make due with it despite needing my car for work. The attendant then went on to tell me that they never put in my request for the loaner and that they had no more to offer me for the day. I asked to speak with management and the owner's son (I forget his name) presented himself. I calmly explained to him the above outlined situation. On top of all this, it was a work day for me and I was being unpaid for anytime I was missing. In the most condescending tone of voice imaginable, he told me to just make another appointment so that they could order the parts. He was completely unapologetic for the numerous mistakes made on their behalf, and even more unsympathetic for the fact that I had taken a financial loss to drive 40 minutes across the city through morning rush hour traffic. Any person with an ounce of sensibility would have offered an apology at the very least, or perhaps an oil change, but instead he just stood there and sneered at me. I am just a few months shy of 40, and would be hard pressed to remember a more egregious case of ineptitude, let alone worse customer service. Should you choose to take your vehicle here, I encourage you to make offerings to whatever gods you believe in that your time and money will not be wasted. Look through their reviews. Lots of one stars. Anybody is capable of having one bad day or instance, but for Grimm's Service it is a way of life. Caveat Emptor. read more

I'm so suprised that there are 1 star reviews on this. Everytime I go they are helpful, knowledgable, cost-friendly, and quick. I always feel like I know whats happening and that they keep me updated on whats happening to my car. They make an effort to remember who you are and talk with you. They explained what was wrong and what that meant. I didn't feel lost in the process and understood more about my car after taking it here. I spent $450 to get my axel and brake circuit worked on, and had no qualms paying it-if that shows how great the service was. read more

Hours say until 930pm yet I come in just now 10/26/17 at 620pm desperate for help since my window fell into my door and I was hoping for minimal help to get my door off and the attendant says they're closed and no mechanics. Has me wait awhile just to talk to me which is understandable with everyone coming in for fuel but as he's telling me there are no mechanics a guy comes in and complains his fuel was let go to full instead of 20. The attendant completely leaves me without saying anything and gives the guy a snickers and rings him up and just leaves and goes back to fueling and doesn't come back. I've had a long day at work to close my door and have it break and then after I'm nice and asking if they can help at all I just get dismissed? Not professional and extremely disappointing. Misdiagnosed my car, thought it was good for long distance trip, but same issue happened that I took in for fixing once I left the Portland area. The best part about all this is that they happened to use the high school cash register kid as the excuse as to why I was not adequately debriefed about my car's issues. I do not like businesses who cannot keep their word and change what they tell you, especially when its's obvious they are doing it in order to save their butts. I think when it comes to our money and our cars we should be given compensation when mechanics mess up like this, but we all know for the sake of their reputation, the stubborn ones, won't admit wrong doing. Now I am forking over money for AIRBNB's, waiting for a local mechanic in Washington to fix what Grimm's could not. Thank you for your great service, Grimm's! I will definitely NOT be coming back. Wow, probably the worst service I have ever received at any store in my entire life. On the phone they're nice and friendly but from the moment my car entered the shop they were completely rude and disrespectful. I was referred to them by a friend and I can't even believe the customer service I received. They charged me $250 for something 2 other shops quoted me $150 for. The other shops had 2 week waits and that was way too long to wait.. or so I thought :/ The mechanic basically told me to my face I was liar because I didn't have proof that the shops quoted me that amount. DON'T GO!!! I made the huge mistake of taking my car here to replace the struts. The estimate was low - I should have guessed they had no idea what they were doing. When I got the car back the new struts started making a clunking/rattling sound, so I took it back. The lead mechanic was cold and rude and took it for a drive (in which I insisted on going with him so I could witness him hearing the noise). The noise was obvious, but he was reluctant to acknowledge it at first - I thought this to be very rude. He took it back to the garage and put it on the rack and checked it out and said that the bearings needed replacing. I was appalled, as that is usually done at the same time as the strut replacement. When I took it to Les Schwab earlier for an estimate, their's included the bearing plate replacement. So the idiot squirted some oil on the worn bearings and sent me on my way. It still clunks as loud as ever and the suspension is horrible. What a waste of time and money!!! These people are probably only good for changing hoses, belts and tires in an emergency. Otherwise, don't waste your time - take you car to a real mechanic. read more

Not really sure what to say about those 1-star reviews because my experience with Grimms has always been amazing. I have taken several cars there for a bunch of different work from oil changes through clutch replacement. I have had quotes from the dealer for $650 "necessary" work only to have Grimms solve the problem for $125. I've been coming here for over 10 years and these guys have been honest to a fault. read more

The people who work there talk at you like they're you superior...I took my car in and the owner told me there was coolant in the oil but didn't know how it happened because he didn't have X-ray vision!...he wanted me to replace the water pump for $1600 but he didn't know if that would fix the problem. I had the car towed to Ford and it turns out Ford issued a report on this potential problem...the Ford mechanic was was floored that Grimm's wanted to replace the water pump...one has nothing to do with the other. If I listened to Grimm's I would have paid $1600 for the water pump and the engine still would have been shot. DONT EVER GO TO GRIMMS!!! read more

I wouldn't recommend anyone to take their car here. They will keep your car for weeks at a time and charge you much more than any quote they provide. Very shady business practices going on at this shop. After my bad experience I found that colleagues have had similar outcomes after going to Grimms. With in 2 hours of dropping off my car I got a call telling me they figured out what was wrong! It took them 1/4 of the time to fix my car that it for did my old mechanic. It also cost me way less. I went to this shop on December 8, 2010. I kept the receipt in my glove box all this time because I was so upset with them. I went to them out of desperation, I was in Tualatin visiting my dad for his birthday, and my car started "chugging" and I didn't know what to do. I stopped there, they were the first service station that I found, and they said they would check out my car and I could pick it up later. They were even nice enough to loan me a loaner car. When they called me with what was wrong with my car, they said it had a bad spark plug. When I went back to pick up my car, I was charged $172.53 to change the plug. I was appalled but what could I do? I would never go here again, even though they were really really nice to me. I do believe that is an outrageous price for one spark plug. Perhaps it was all my fault, I should have asked. But really, who would think $172.53 to fix ONE SPARK PLUG? gads! read more

Took a Jeep Wagoneer (1990 carbureted V8 - tricky!) into them because it was stalling when warmed-up. They correctly identified the problem - several vacuum lines leaking, new fuel pump, and adjusted the carb so now it runs better than it has in years. Very quick about it and right on what I thought was a reasonable estimate! Mark spent time a few minutes right after closing time explaining the work he did.
