The Grimm team did a great job with my order. I requested a custom-bound leather book be made so that I could hide a ring in it to propose to my now fiancee. The book itself is beautiful and worth every penny. I will say that the process for ordering the book was not very streamlined. There is a lot of nuance that goes into ordering and making a custom book and it is difficult to convey that. If Grimm could create a more streamlined method for reviewing available options and placing an order, that would be excellent. I have ordered two separate books from Grimm. One was my daughter's wedding ceremony printed up in book form, and another was collecting into book form some written work of my son as a gift. Not only does Grimm turn out a great product - highly recommend - but Laura in Customer Service makes everything easy. Very responsive, tries very hard to make sure she understands what you want, quick to help - can't say enough about how she made the whole process as streamlined and successful as possible. I have had a couple of local history books and paperbacks rebound in hardcover. Grimm does an absolutely superb job binding books but it can be a very slow process with little communication. If you want a book for a special occasion, send it to them 8 to 10 months in advance. read more

I haven't received my books yet (2), which I asked to have rebound) - I sent them in June 2020 (its now September), so I can't comment on quality, but can provide some feedback on my experience with thier customer service. I received a voicemail from Laura, which asked for a credit card authorization. She just left her first name and the general number for the company. When I called (after hours) I was greated with the standard and frustrating automated voicemail system, which in this case directed me in circles and eventually to a directory of personnel, which was identified by last name. Because Laura did not leave a last name or extension, I couldn't identify her and proceeded to try to go down the list and find a "Laura." The first person the system presented was identified as a retired member and I could go no further. By this time I had wasted a considerable amount of time and was pretty frustrated with this old school and unmaintained system. So, I left a message explaining the above in the general mailbox. In the morning, I was contacted by Laura. No mention of my experiences, but complete with bad attitude. You know, after working in public service all my career, it doesn't take much to take the sting out of issues when they go wrong with customers, if the employee who is the face of the company is willing and understands their role. My mother received her cookbook on her wedding day in 1936. As a child growing up I always saw her using that book. Years of use took it's toll, covers were gone, pages coming out and so on.
