She and I shared office space for several months, and if I needed to line up a speaker that an audience would appreciate and value, Kirsty is someone who would be great to have on the program. What I love so much about Kirsty is that she is so down-to-Earth, fun-loving, flexible, genuine, and authentic. These qualities that shine from her so brightly built an immediate foundation of rapport, trust, and confidence. Through her masterful skills and abilities to truly motivate, inspire, and hold me accountability for my own greatness, I was able to achieve goals in a MUCH shorter time than when I've done other types of work or techniques (and believe me, I've tried it all!!) ! She really went above-and-beyond to create a one-of-a-kind experience that was completely tailored to my specific needs. Kirsty had such a natural way of helping me to discover what was no longer serving me, so I could reframe it, and let it go. In the process, I was finally able to start my business, a long time dream I had always had. I honestly do not know where I'd be if it weren't for Kirsty and her amazing gift of coaching to bring out the best in me. We meet bi-monthly via Zoom and occasionally in-person as well. For context, I started these sessions with a clear goal to better understand where I wanted to focus my energy and career, though I couldn't figure it out by myself (not like it's an easy thing to do but still). I was impressed by Anh-Toan's ability to empathetically understand my situation and pinpoint the important things to focus on. I gained a much better understanding of my values and practical advice to apply them in everyday life. His positive energy is contagious and I come out of every session with a strong sense of purposeful direction. For those considering life coaching in-general: I think it's a really valuable investment when you're trying to set a direction or gain better self-understanding. It can also be valuable in figuring out how to apply knowledge to take something good and make it better. If you're on the fence I'd say schedule a chat and see if it's a good fit - Anh-Toan's an honest guy and will give his honest opinion. Highly recommend him as a coach!

Please know that I come at writing this review from the perspective of being both client and…read moreclinician. I write this review from a desire to inform. When I was first looking for a therapist to work with, I would have welcomed reading a review from someone who had actually worked with this clinician. Finding the right therapist can be a difficult task and because of the sensitive nature of therapy so few write honest, informed reviews. Far too often, when therapy does not go well, clinicians participate in a form of gas-lighting, trying to place all blame for the failure of therapy on the client. It takes a truly skilled, seasoned, self-aware therapist to participate in an honest evaluation of what went wrong. Unfortunately, Rebecca Compton was unable to do that in my experience with her. Very rarely, is it truly the client who fails in therapy, but the therapist who fails the client. I hope that this review helps someone make an informed decision about seeking care from Rebecca Compton. Rebecca Compton may be a skilled clinician in a very niche', boutique type practice but I would not recommend her for any trauma work or work where there is the possibility of negative transference. I am a therapist who has been doing the sacred work of psychotherapy for over 30 years. I engaged the services of Rebecca Compton to do some specific work around trauma. Rebecca Compton indicates both on her website and her psychology today profile, that she is a clinician who does trauma/PTSD work. She also indicates that she is a clinician who works from a psycho-dynamic/modern analytic theoretical orientation. As a clinician, I was uniquely positioned to understand that those approaches, those indicated areas of specialty were exactly what I anticipated would be areas wells suited to do the work I believed I needed to do. I worked with Ms. Compton from the summer of 2021 until February of 2022. That was a solid block of time that should have allowed Ms. Compton to show up as a clinician skilled at managing both trauma and transference. Unfortunately, that did not prove to be true. Ms. Compton missed some very key moments where a trauma informed clinician would have guided and joined and attuned with the client in order to do sensitive, powerful trauma work. Thankfully, I am a clinician and therefore capable of understanding that the failure of my therapy experience with her was her failing as a clinician and not mine as a client. I have great concern for any client that would engage Ms. Compton for trauma work only to leave believing they have failed to make therapy work or that therapy would not work for them. Trauma work, transference work takes a clinician who is skilled to reach in, to join, to find a level of attunement with a client that builds a foundation of trust. Unfortunately, despite repeated efforts to allow her to do that, Ms. Compton was unable to join or attune in anyway that allowed for a solid foundation of trust and safety. As the client, I repeatedly brought into session content that should have allowed for the sensitive, powerful work of managing negative transference. I was very aware that negative transference would most likely rear it's ugly head. I was clear with Ms. Compton about that from the beginning. I sought out a seasoned, skilled clinician for that very reason. It was jarring when it happened and she failed to work with it in away that would have allowed for the powerful, restorative, healing work that therapy can offer. Ms. Compton indicates that she now does Brainspotting as a tool to treat trauma. I was not able to get to the place of trusting Ms. Compton enough to allow her to use that tool with me. That may be an effective tool but without the foundation of trust it becomes difficult for any client to go to a spot with a clinician where they must believe the clinician is skilled in navigating. This could have been salvaged but Ms. Compton refused to do the work that would have allowed for that.
