I hired Robin LoGuidice to represent me in legal malpractice litigation filed pro se against my former landlord-tenant attorney, Mitchell Heaney. LoGuidice claimed to know Heaney in and out, and to despise him, which naturally inspired confidence I'd come to the right office. In 2010, Heaney was punished by the Board on Professional Standards for unethical behavior displayed in two of my cases, all of which benefited my landlord. He then defaulted on my malpractice lawsuit. Meaning, he didn't show up to court. My case was headed to Inquest, where I was going to be given a cash award by the Judge in the case, without Heaney even present to object. It was a win. Then the Judge (York) died before setting a date. While waiting on a date, Robin LoGuidice began overcharging me. I spent many uncompensated hours poring over her invoices, only to find she had overcharged me several times. I pointed it out and this was met with pushback. She wanted to argue whether she received a $1,500 check that I placed in her hand in the lobby of her building. It shouldn't have even become an argument, given the check was deposited. After this the relationship was soured. It ended when I received a yuletide email wherein LoGuidice's addressees were not blind copied. On a relatively short list of recipients was none other than Mitchell Heaney, the crooked landlord-tenant lawyer who LoGuidice claimed time and time again to despise. I'd been conned. No one sends Christmas cards to people they despise, or anyone who they are actively suing. To this day, LoGuidice's office has not informed me of any re-set Inquest date. So to nutshell, Robin LoGuidice talked a good game until she tried taking more money than she was entitled to, stood on their error instead of admitting it, alienated a client who'd already paid her ten grand, and effectively tanked my Inquest -- against a crooked lawyer who LoGuidice obviously has a relationship with despite protestations to the contrary. For the uninitiated, duplicity of this variety (or crookedness or corruption, whatever you call it) is absolutely commonplace in the New York City landlord-tenant lawyer market. They all know one another, and they all deal behind the tenant's back. Its a mutual admiration society and tenants are a dime a dozen -- a renewable resource. This applies even to many of those who hold themselves out as premier representatives of tenants, like Ms. LoGuidice has frequently done in her career. read more

I initially met Shaina during a free public consultation session when I was UNLAWFULLY evicted and my landlord UNLAWFULLY possessed my belongings including my parakeet.
