My review is only for the hot breakfast buffet. The interior is very warm and welcoming. Lots of rich wood trim and deep colors. Nicely decorated and clean. Nancy, the attendant on this morning, was very friendly and made us feel at home. All items on the bar were neatly organized and presented nicely. The eggs and bacon were freshly made instead of coming in a bag. A bowl of salsa to put on the eggs was a nice touch instead of a skinny packet. The bacon was a real strip cooked with a slight crisp. The sausage was nicely cooked and moist. The fruit was fresh and ripe to taste. There were plenty of the usual breakfast drinks. No soda.

The place is severely understaffed. Same person for front and back. We got seated then 30 minutes after, told that the kitchen is closed. This was a restaurant at the hotel we stayed at because our flight was delayed a day. Sadly wasn't able to try the food but there is a snack store in the hotel. Long bar and casual setting.

The breakfast ordered as room service while staying at the Double Tree in Deaborn while traveling was simply splendid. The only think was that no syrup was provided with the French Toast. The Greek Omelet was amazing and the hashbrown served with it were amazing. Strongly recommended!

Stayed at the Double Tree hotel for business so I came here for dinner. Ordered the Chicken Sandwich, after the waitress recommended it, and was underwhelmed. The grilled chicken wasn't seasoned very much and they counted on the peppers and cheese to bring the flavor. There was also supposed to be chipotle mayo on the sandwich, but none that I tasted or saw (unless it was under the melted cheese). The Cajin fries that it came with were good though. It was also fairly expensive for a grilled chicken sandwich and a beer. Our waitress was extremely friendly and kind, which made the experience better. Overall, their food fell flat and I wouldn't go here unless I was staying at the hotel and didn't have time to visit a different restaurant.

With the grand view of the Double Tree hotel, my expectations for the place seriously skyrocketed...which may ultimately be the reason for a small let down. But honestly, it really isn't bad at all. I was quickly sat down by the sole waitress working at the hour. I wanted to order a pizza, but was informed that the pizza oven was broken at the time. Aight, no problem. Always go with a backup game plan. I decided to try a salmon burger, something that I actually never tried and was rather curious for the outcome. It wasn't exactly what I envisioned. I envisioned a grilled salmon resting on the hamburger bun. But instead, it seemed like a mixture of salmon grinded up with something else (my best guess is some kind of tofu-like ingredient) and shaped into a hamburger pattie. It doesn't taste bad at all though. It also comes with freshly made cole slaw and freshly fried curly fries. For $10? I will take it! As I was trying to pay for my check, the waitress took my card but forgot to return me with the receipt..and my card, which caused me to wait for about 20 minutes before I finally stood up and asked her politely for my card back. She quickly realized her mistake and apologized. Being the only waitress at this hour, I understand things can be a bit overwhelming though, though I can imagine some kind of jerks out there that would simply dismiss such matter as "not my concern". Overall, a rather comfortable dining experience. Would probably need to try more items on the menu to give it a more accurate rating.

Nice presentation of tea. I guess this is what $3 Tazo is.

The place was empty but we waited for our server, longer than I thought we should. The drinks came after a minute. The order was taken. I ordered a saffron shrimp pesto dish. I tasted nothing but olive oil, pasta and shrimp that was over cooked. The plate was cool and my food was tepid more like room temperature which is not ideal for pasta or shrimp. I asked for it to be heated, which over cooked the shrimp. I saw/tasted no hints of saffron. The pesto wasn't oily like I suspected but it was ok. The pasta was perfect. The shrimp lacked seasoning. I wanted more; I was starving but did not finish my plate. For my inconvenience my dessert was comp'd. It was a boring key lime pie that favored cheese cake. I dared not ask for anything else because our meals took forever to arrive. The bread and flat crackers were great. The $3 Tazo I had was great but not the food. My meal was covered by my employer but I would not eat here free again. The decor and space is nice, roomy enough for large parties. The menus price point is too lofty for what they offer. Take a dollar off your drinks and two off the meals and maybe then it'll be worth it. If you're local, then eat ANYWHERE else. If you're visiting, try something else at the mall or even Olive Garden up the street is better than this.

Sammich is a term reserved for only the holiest and mightiest of all sandwiches. Sandwiches make a good snack, but sammiches are forever. Sums it up perfectly. The Ontario sandwich is quite possibly the best sandwich I've ever had (in recent memory)! I am so glad I accidentally wandered into this spot. I was visiting the Arab American National Museum down the street and wanted to grab a quick bite and I didn't want McDonald's or Burger King. I thought...hmm a sandwich shop. Let's just grab a quick bite. I didn't know what to order so I ordered the Ontario and an iced caramel latte. Once the sandwich came out I thought," Hmm looks good." Then I took a single bite and OMG. The toasted crunch, the chipotle sauce, the perfectly sou vided chicken breast, and melted cheese...it was just an explosion of favor! The French fries were perfectly done and had a good crisp. The spot is quiet and comfortable. I could see myself coming back to enjoy a slow afternoon while eating a godly sandwich.

Side Chic's blows them out of the water along with every other spot in Detroit/Dearborn (Savvy Sliders, Checkers, KFC, Chic Fil A, Chick N Kingz etc.) The breading on the tenders is very, very flavorful. They also put the perfect amount of breading on each tender. I absolutely hate overbreaded tenders where it feels like you're chewing through multiple layers till you hit chicken. Side Chic's avoids this completely by having a nice layer of breading that adds flavor and doesn't distract from the chicken. The chicken itself is hot, juicy and well textured. This is not rubbery, dry chicken. The only other way I can describe it is it just tastes fresh. I was thoroughly impressed. Side Chic's is a carry out spot that's open very, very late (which is awesome). Everyone who works there is incredibly pleasant and helpful. Also, even though the chicken is fresh and made to order, your food comes out in a fairly quick manner. I really can't say enough good things about Side Chic's. Unfortunately the location in…read moreDearborn Heights just isn't somewhere I go very often so it's been stuck on my list for the longest time. They opened a second branch in East Dearborn recently which finally allowed me to give the subs a try. The restaurant itself is quite small and is mostly a takeout destination. There are only 14 seats in the small dining room, a small fridge stocked with drinks, and the order counter, from which you can see the kitchen. I went in on a very empty weekday lunch and got one item, which took about 10 minutes to come out: Lebanese Sub, Half ($8.99) - They toast this sub well, resulting in a very nice crunch on the exterior. Just be careful eating it - you can pretty easily lacerate your gums if you're not careful! The interior is moist for the most part, with a bit of a mild garlic and mayo mixture that covers all the ingredients. There's a double layer of grilled chicken breast that forms a base layer, followed by some fries that are crunchy on the exterior and fluffy on the interior, and finally a layer of crunchy and acidic pickles. The chicken is the weakest part of the dish - some pieces are overcooked, dry, and tough. It's most noticeable in the thickest areas where there's not enough mayo/garlic to add moisture to the sandwich. Still, overall I found the sub to be good and the ingredients all complemented each other well. Note: The little red tray that they served the sub in smelled heavily of bleach and my first couple of bites had a slight whiff of bleach thanks to that. If you eat here, I would recommend removing the food from the tray before eating. Zaghloul Subs is definitely worth a try.

Located on the campus of the Henry Ford Community College, Fifty-one O One is a hidden gem of a…read morerestaurant, entirely run by the local culinary school students. Everything is cooked and baked by the chefs-in-training so you can expect little blemishes here and there, but where else can you get Duck Confit for $14 or Surf and Turf for $17 nowadays? I was always interested in going ever since I learned about the restaurant, but their very limited hours (they are only open during the school year for lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and for dinner on Wednesday) prevented me from giving them a try. That changed last Wednesday. We had a reservation for the special Shrimp and Soul Seafood Buffet ($21.95 per person). Parking was a bit of a pain - I guess this place is mostly attended by faculty and other students because we had to call and wait for security to raise the gate to the parking lot. As we walked into the building, we noticed that the restaurant is basically situated to the side of the student commons/cafeteria area. We walked up and found a giant line of people waiting to check in; this was right when they opened at 6PM. This took a while, but after we managed to make it inside, we were directed to the overflow seating outside of the restaurant - it wasn't exactly the classiest of seats; basically just temporary circular fold tables and plastic chairs, with a cheap plastic cover on top of the table. The interior furniture was much better but I guess for these more popular events they have too many people come in. We waited a while for the waitress to get to us as there seemed to be only one or two for the entire restaurant and then finally could go inside to grab food. There were two main lines for food, one to the right with salad and appetizers, and one to the left with the mains. Starting with the right side, which was mostly self service, we had: Spring Mix Salad - Pretty standard green mix with a wide variety of toppings to choose from, including shredded cheese, olives, broccoli, onions, chickpeas, carrots, cherry tomatoes, and a couple of different dressings. Cocktail Shrimp - These were boiled and piled into an attractive ice sculpture, with the shrimp spilling out from the bottom. They were cooked perfectly with the shrimp being served unshelled. They were a bit tricky to peel, but they were deveined well. This came with cocktail sauce and lemon on the side. Macaroni Salad, Cole Slaw, and Potato Salad - All mixed and seasoned well. Soup - The menu listed shellfish clam chowder but instead they had a nice corn chowder with imitation crab. On the left side, where there were students standing behind every dish to serve the food: Cornbread Muffins and Dinner Rolls - The cornbread were very sweet with good cornmeal taste. The rolls were pretty normal in taste and texture, but they looked nicely baked with cornmeal sprinkled on top. Braised Collard Greens - The greens were chopped and stewed until tender with no stringy bits. There was a bit of smokiness and pieces of pork mixed in. Sweet Potato Casserole - This had a nice cinnamony taste with a browned crust on top. Pork Tenderloin - This was thinly sliced and dressed with a peach bbq sauce. It was good to try but kind of dry and tough. Fried Cod - This was beer battered cod with a bit of bitterness. The fish inside was tender and moist. Chicken Breast - Very dry, my least favorite food of the night by far. The last two items were rice pilaf and green beans. In addition, there was a mac & cheese station with mix-ins, including diced tomato, caramelized onion, homemade bacon, broccoli, and imitation crab. The student scoops some precooked, oiled elbow macaroni into a pan, adds the toppings, ladles a cheese roux on top and heats everything up in a skillet. We were told that the bacon is made on site. It's thick cut into cubes so you have sizable chunks of delicious smoky bacon. We found the best part of the meal to be the dessert, served on a table right outside the restaurant (and conveniently located across the entrance from our table). These consisted of a decadent heart shaped white chocolate mousse with raspberry filling, a chocolate mousse with caramel filling, small pecan pie slices, Mississippi mud pie bars, cups of banana pudding, red velvet cupcakes, peach cobbler (served hot), and cheesecake. Everything on this table was delicious and we definitely overindulged. Overall, the food was a bit hit and miss, with the meats being the worst and the desserts being the best. Since this was a buffet rather than their normal service, there were probably some additional consistency issues. Still I think this was a good experience and it made me want to visit again for their standard menu but perhaps not for another buffet.
