This is my first one star review. I feel the need to…read morejustify it so I will. I came to Chew yesterday. The gentleman at the counter told me it would be at least 30 minutes till my burger came out. Seeing the row of dockets on the wall I said no problems. Thanks for letting me know and left. Today I tried again. The row of dockets less full than yesterday. Awesome and to be expected as its Sunday. Happily ordered a 3072 and a fries which I had asked the lady if they would be able to do a half serve in Ghost Chili Salt and the other with Parmesan salt. She said she will let them know. 35 minutes later despite having 3 people in the store and after about 20 orders have gone via uber eats and next door to Racoon Club. I have a burger and fries and I'll get to that but first let me talk about how a eat in establishment should present themselves: 1. Be warm and welcoming. 2. That's pretty much it. I can only assume Chew is trying to save money on refrigeration because they keep the door open in winter. The customers that are sitting eagerly awaiting their food were wearing their jackets and beanies. INSIDE. It was freezing. I have no idea why any eat in establishment should be designed to be that cold but it is hugely inappropriate. Now for the food. Before I ever got my food beyond feeling hypothermic I was interested to see the familiar brands of Birds Eye and Kailis Bros fine frozen products (shoestring fries and tempura onion rings) but that's less relevant. The burger was completely adequate. The bun was cool because they keep toasting bread even though that's a relatively quick part of the burger process so there is always toasted bread ready for when all the other elements are ready. Toasted but not warm. The veggies and sauce were all lovely. Burger was somewhat pink. Can't complain too much there. Overall the burger was 3/5 My fries the chef had nicely coated in Ghost Chili salt. All of them. When someone recounted my order with half ghost chili, and half Parmesan salt he kindly dusted some Parmesan over the top of it and sent it my way...not impressed. Now beyond that the food at Chew is PERFECTLY seasoned. So much so that salt and pepper are not necessary items on the tables for the dine in customers. When approaching the counter to ask for some salt the massive salt was brought to give my fries a healthy shake before it returned home on the chef's line. Conclusions: I think that Chew Burger might be an adequate burger but this experience was atrocious. From the indoor temperature, to the time (and associated lack of disclosure), to the fries and not owning the order and just trying to settle for mediocrity. I think as a food option for Raccoon club it is great (but that's mostly due to Raccoon club being great about allowing outside food into their establishment). However as an eatery standing on its own two feet it failed spectacularly. If I was to go to Chew again I would only do it in the context of going to Raccoon club or as an Uber eats option.

The set up is different, and like as if they took a tip from the whole food truck craze. You order outside from a fixed stand and take a number to sit either indoors, or in their outdoor seating area. The indoor section has a playpen for the kiddies and wood panels surrounding the wall. There's a steady stream of people, which I always take as a good thing. The first visit was strictly a milkshake mission. The Ferrero Rocher was perfect and complete chocolate hazelnut, not a let down. The Creme Brulee was good too, but I wish I ordered the Ferrero Rocher. Both were thick, but not too thick, just a really good consistency. And sweet, but not too sweet. The second visit involved going all out with their menu choices: a herb crusted chick burger, Raffaelo shake and waffle cheese fries. And all I can say is whoa. This meal is not meant for one. There's no way. I was happy with everything, but it was so overwhelming to try and finish everything. The chicken burger was a handful on a lovely Sourdough bun, and had a rich Alfredo sauce. The waffle fries were yummy but had a thick and heavy three cheese sauce. The shake was beautiful and just like liquefied Raffaelo, which is exactly what you'd want it to be. It was a learning experience, next time would be one or the other (burger vs waffle fries), the shakes are a must. Or maybe I'd split the burger and still have the shake and fries. I'm not sure, but what I do know is that I won't do all three at once again. Plus side: open til 11pm on weekdays and midnight on Friday & Saturday.

It is easily accessible via public transport, with a bus stop close by. We were a little confused upon arrival as there is a burger track situated at the front - so we thought that Burgies might have been a burger truck and not a 'dine in' kind of experience... but we soon realised that they had both indoor and outdoor seating, and the truck was there to take orders. We were greeted by a friendly staff member at the truck, and all the staff members we encountered there were very hospitable and sociable. We both ordered 'The Lava' burger with an added patty, waffle cheese fries with added avocado, and gelato thick shakes - one being Strawberry Cheesecake and the other Ferrero Rocher. Price wise they stack up pretty well against their competitors. Their most expensive burger is $12.00, and to add-on a beef patty only costs an extra $2.50 - which is amazing value! They have a range of burgers including beef, chicken, lamb and vegetarian options. Their shakes and sides were around average price. We were given a restaurant pager, and then took a seat inside. The venue is really great! We loved the set up, and we loved the use of the crates on the walls which tied in with the industrial area. It has a modern interior, and even had a play pen for kids which we thought was a great idea for families that visit! It wasn't long before our pager went off, so we went and grabbed our food. Everything looked delicious, and we were particularly excited about the waffle fries. They tasted scrumptious! Lovely and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The avocado and cheese sauce went really well with them, and the serving size was definitely decent. 'The Lava' burger was really yummy too! The patty was spicy, which we did not initially realise, but it was enjoyable. The tasty cheese, egg and caramelised onion tasted really nice together, and the lettuce gave a bit of refreshment to break down the spiciness and warmth. We quite enjoyed the mild-peri sauce too! The shakes were thick and creamy, and conveniently given in take-away cups. We were impressed by the overall location, service and food at Burgies - and highly recommend that you check them out.

Think: In and Out meets Shake Shack. There's over the top versions with truffle mayo and mac n' cheese croquettes, but I prefer to keep it simple with a single stack burger and the addition of jalapeños. What sets Royal Stacks apart from other local burger options is the service and the environment which lends itself well to family and friend groups eating together. Large table configurations as well as smaller ones for couples. A staff member welcomes you and helps you find a table and another will pop past during the meal to ask how everything is going. It's a small extra that's totally unexpected in what is otherwise a fast food-esque experience (order and pay at the counter, collect your tray when ready) but it does make everything just that little bit nicer especially when there's kidlets in your group.

The three staff that were present in the kitchen were either oblivious to our presence or simply didn't care. We persevered through the agony of ordering. The touch screen literally required the sort of pressure you'd need to pop the worst kind of massive pimple. It took ages to get it to allow me to pay with the attached eftpos terminal. Just avoid these things and use the barcode on the table, or just go somewhere else. The food is fine. It's just what you need if you're after delicious dripping burgers. They taste great! The drink inclusions on our ordered failed to arrive unprompted halfway through the meal however. I think the days of friendly and familiar hipster diner or take out burgers are gone with this brand. It seems to have been past over to a conglomerate destined to suck the life force out and milk whatever profits may trickle in from home delivery service. The seats are worn, the toilet feels icky, the touch screen to order from was a little slimy. If you look past all that though you'll wonder who styled the place. It's a mish mash of all sorts. Don't come here for a vibe other than the one you bring in with you.

Clearly a competently run and popular place with people waiting for tables at various stages. Quick pleasant service. Good menu with lots of Melbourne brekkie and lunch standards available. I just felt like plain eggs and bacon with seeded toast today. The dish was good. The eggs were nice. Well cooked and just that right amount of runny yolk. There was a decent serve of bacon too. But it was a bit salty for me, though. Decent value dish overall I thought. The world's most beautiful woman had the pork egg benny. She reported it as nice but thought it needed a little bit of greenery. Her suggestion was to replace the haloumi with some fresh greens. We finished with coffee which was lovely. My long black was superb. Service was lovely throughout. There were plenty of staff too which was impressive. Nice place overall. However, with the new menu, there has been a clear push to claim the hipster market, with confused items. The breakfast menu includes a quinoa muesli-type concoction with kale and hazelnuts, and their take on Eggs Benedict comes with pulled pork and grilled haloumi. The pork is the odd one out in this dish, with the sweet and briney flavours conflicting with the classic hollandaise and poached egg. The haloumi, although prepared to perfection, overpowered the meal with salt. The desserts also look impressive, and have been updated along with the décor. The lemon tart comes with an unconventional chocolate curl on the top, and the cheesecake, flourless orange, and tiramisu all look incredible. I opted for what was described to me as a raspberry sponge, but it had more mousse than sponge, and very little raspberry flavour. The middle layer of sponge has an infusion of redness with little flavour, and an awkward density as a result. I would like to see a refinement of the menu, with more focus on complimentary flavours. The staff is lovely and the coffee is great as it has always been.

On top of its relaxed and cozy atmosphere, from the moment you walk in, you are greeted with friendly service from the family owned cafe. Recommended from Brenda was the Black Jack & Red Lantern. The Black Jack is a Hong Kong and Japanese fusion burger, a delicious and flavoursome burger which consisted of American cheese, bacon, grilled mushroom, spanish onion, lettuce, tomato, black pepper sauce and japanese mayo. What really stood out to me here was the black pepper sauce, the sauce was pungent and empowered the flavour of the burger as a whole. The Red Lantern is a Japanese and Thai fusion burger which consisted of american cheese, bacon, spanish onions, lettuce, tomato and wasabi mayo. Once again, the burger was tender and juicy and the ingredients worked well with each other. You can't really go wrong with fresh ingredients. Unfortunately I was disappointed about the spice factor, considering it was labelled 2 out of 3 spice level, I was expecting more of a punch, which the burger did not have at all. we also ordered the Loaded fries which consisted of aioli furikake which was roasted seaweed seasoning and aioli on top of a bowl of beer battered fries. A hearty accompaniment with our burgers and the flavours harmonized well If you feel like indulging, grab an Iced Chocolate or an Iced Matcha, as both of these drinks were sweet and delicious. I would like to thank Brenda once again for inviting us to sample their specialties and will definitely be dining there again if i'm ever in the area. 7.7 / 10
