I should be able to give this place negative stars. (Westfield Montgomery Mall location) I was in the mall with my 3 year-old granddaughter and all she wanted was "bread". I had eaten at Grill Kabob several times before and it was always good. I placed my order and it came to $20.98. I handed the cashier two $20 bills and she stood there for a second looking confused. I said I don't have change. I started digging through my bag to look for a $1 or a change as my granddaughter was getting antsy at my side. I offered to pay with a card, but was told "it's ok". The cashier then handed me my receipt and no change. I said "I didn't receive my change". She got defensive and told me that she gave me the $20. I was still looking for change! I said "no, I don't think so, I gave you $40". I said "if you gave me $20 back, I still owe you 98 cents." She said "look in your bag, I have you $20, don't worry about the change". Since I had roughly $300 because I had just gone to the ATM and had bought some items in other places, I didn't want to stand there and do a whole forensic accounting while the baby waited. I apologized and stood back to wait for my food. I was NOT rude just confused. As I am dancing and entertaining my granddaughter, I see the cashier grab a take-out container which contained salad, and carry it to the back. When she returned and sat down the container, the woman who was making the other orders followed her to the naan maker, where the cashier began making bread. She was animatedly telling her what happened and gestured her eyes toward me which made the woman look at me. At that moment, I knew she had done something to my food. The food I was going to share with my GRANDDAUGHTER. When I saw that exchange, I asked for my BOTTLED drinks and the food was ready at the same time. I immediately threw it in the trash! I went to the Thai place directly across from them to get food for myself, then got pizza for my granddaughter. I cannot believe the cashier got upset because I questioned her! Upset enough to tamper with my food that I was going to share with a 3-year old! Yes, I should have been more present when ordering but not only did she likely spit in my food, she got my $20.98. After I got home I counted my money and compared my receipts. She definitely stole $20! No use complaining. They are all related. Never again and I hope they go out of business. read more

I think that anything you eat tastes better grilled and on a skewer. Something about that grilled chicken really amps up the taste buds. I stopped in Grill Kabob for the chicken kabob meal. It comes with rice, a huge pita, lots of juicy chicken, salad, and beans in a tikka masala sauce. Everything was delicious! They give you large portions and the price was reasonable. Service was great and I gave my order and about ten minutes later it was done. They even remembered I asked for all Jasmine rice. It is located in Westfield Montgomery Mall, so the ambiance is nice. While walking through the mall, my mother-in-law suggested we eat at Grill Kabob. I'd walked past it a few times but never felt the urge to try it--until now. Mom-in-law was absolutely right; this place is fantastic. I went for the Number 6 Beef & Chicken Kabob Combo with rice, salad, and baked bread. From the very first bite of the chicken, I was hooked. It was clear that the chicken had been marinating for a while--the flavor was infused throughout, not just on the surface like at other places. The chicken was juicy, and the beef was incredibly flavorful. The white rice paired perfectly with the dish, making it even better. I'm honestly upset I hadn't tried this place sooner. Today is the first time I had Grill Kebab. I ordered the Kubedah Kebab and the ground beef was grilled to perfection, with a slight crispness. While I had ordered my kebabs with a salad, somehow they gave me the rice and salad dish. The salad was fresh, but it didn't have olives and I'm accustomed to having olives in my salads when I order middle eastern dishes. It'd be nice if olives could be added. read more

This is the worst service I have ever experienced in my life, the woman at the cash register forced me to put my card in again after I repeatedly told her that it already said accepted, the second time I put my card in again she told me to do it once more but I STATED that I saw it sayin it was accepted with a check mark. Then she repeatedly argued me saying that my card declined and I had no money. Then, the receipt printed, showing it DID go through, the ambiance of the whole restaurant is hlrribl. Later on, today I found out she charged my card twice and it said I spent 72 dollars here!!! DO NOT get food from here, this establishment has scammed me and when I reported this issue by calling, the manager told me it wasn't a big deal, "why are you so mad?", then argued with my mother. This used to be our family's go to place for good kabobs, and being middle eastern, we are picky about where we eat. In the past this place had good, reliable food, but in the last 6 months, I've been 4 times, and every time I've gone, my orders been messed up, things have been left out, my food has had poor quality, or the people helping us have over charged us or didn't know how to use the computer system. I hope this is just a phase, but when I talk to other people who have had the same experiences, it worry's me. I hope this place turns around for the better. read more

We have been here so many times in the last several years. Either the one in Tyson's or this one are great. Love it so much we get the chicken and koubedah every time. There is almost always a line and it does take about 15 minutes to get your food because they grill your meat after you order. The number 5 is almost big enough for 2 people. You get two types of rice and a naan with every plate. A lot of times you also get a small cup of chic peas. The number 5 is like $16 or $17. Really pretty good for the amount of food you get. For fast food at the mall we waited over 20 minutes while people ordering after us were served. The cashier (habib) was not really friendly except to people his own age (16-19?). Had dinner here before a movie. Located in the large food court of the ArcLight Theatre at Montgomery Mall. I consider this Afghan eatery more "fast casual"than "fast food". Everything looks to be freshly made, and there's a lot of staff, each seeming to do his/her particular job. I ordered the chicken kabob which was tasty, albeit somewhat salty. Served with rice, an over dressed green salad, a huge piece of round bread, and a small side of a chickpea concoction which I really enjoyed. Staff was less than friendly and seemed to be working too fast (thus the over dressed salad), perhaps to keep palace with the many orders. You could do a heckuva lot worse in the food court. read more

This once-proud and honorable establishment has taken to adding mayonnaise​ to their yogurt. There is no mayonnaise in Afghanistan. Even after years of Soviet oppression, none of their northern neighbors have dared to pollute their cuisine with the foreign substance. Even Pakistanis, the age-old nemeses of Afghans, think of mayonnaise as a strange, sad invention of a West lacking any real cuisine. So why has Grill Kabob embraced it as their favored step-child? Okay, the mayo-hate aside, the quality of the food offered by this establishment has all but collapsed. A few months ago, they added 10-15% to each of their prices, and began shortchanging​ customers in quantity and quality. Grill Kabob is losing its luster, and Middle Eastern, Muslim and halal-favoring customers are moving on two newer, more loyal horizons outside Montgomery Mall. Heartbreaking. read more

My chicken gyro was $1.25 more expensive than a regular lamb gyro(?) and took 10 minutes to come out , which I was okay with, given the bread came out fresh from the tandoor and chicken was grilled fresh too. The sandwich was yummy and the green sauce on the side was perfect to kick it up a notch.
