Grill Fresh is a great concept, and it's the type of "fast food" we need more of, a healthier and cleaner version. Basically, it's a make your own bowl place. You can choose from rices, potatoes, or even quinoa for your base. Then there's protein or tofu for those who are meatless, and last are other veggies to add in and sauce to top it off, of course. Honestly I really wanted to like my bowl more than I did. I tried the spicy brown rice and it was so spicy it almost was hard to enjoy because it wasn't the good kind of spice. And overall it just fell flat for me. These guys are trying to be like a Fresh Kitchen and I love that but it just wasn't as quality as I had hoped. But still, if you need a quick option that's not like McDonalds or something this is still much better to get. And the personality of the restaurant is quite entertaining too, they have a lot of funny signage all over. read more

From quality to consistency it just is lack luster especially looking at the cost. Chicken was cut in some huge chunks (about 4inch long ) and small chunks, was just okay, sauces were just okay, veggies were over or under no middle ground. They really do make it easy. Order by the item, the number of which is based on your cost options. The food though flavorful is a bit over-salted. If you're holding yourself out as a healthy alternative to what's out there you probably shouldn't do that. Prepare to open your wallet because this place is spendy. You'll end up spending 15 bucks for the most basic option. That can add up to even more with add ons. Like I said. Good in a pinch but I would not make a habit of it. read more

We stopped by to try out this location. It's located in the northwest corner of the intersection of US19 and Nebraska in Palm Harbor. There's lots of free parking since it's right next to a strip center. It's set up essentially like a Moe's where you pick out what you want and then pay. For our plates, we tried the 'Pick Six' which is 2 bases (pasta, rice, etc.), 2 veggies and 2 proteins. You get to choose one sauce and we chose the Teriyaki sauce. We had: the veggie fried rice, grilled steak, broccoli, warm glass (Asian) noodles, BBQ chicken, sautéed mushrooms, chickpeas and the pulled pork. The proteins were wonderful. They were tender and the chicken had a nice char taste and texture. The steak was an upcharge. The only thing that I wasn't wild about were the glass noodles. Attentive staff and relaxed atmosphere! My physical therapist recommended Grill Fresh for lunch. I wasn't really hungry so I got a small bowl. For a small bowl I got a lot to eat! I started with sweet potatoes and noodles, and added chicken and green beans. All the sauces looked good, and I was able to try three. I settled on two - a white sauce and green sauce. I can not remember what I got, but they we're both good. In fact, my whole bowl was delicious and filling. I used a credit card to pay, and noticed a 43¢ fee. I am so glad I found Grill Fresh! The Hubs and I had decided to go to a different eatery when we saw GF and made a U-Turn. We've been back a handful of times since ( Ok, that's a lie, It's been weekly). I love their bowl concept. I usually get their 5 bowl: 2 Bases, 2 Veggies, 1 protein and sauce. TLDR: good options, loved the veggies! We enjoyed dinner here and built 3 different bowls. My daughter had the coconut rice which was served cold and was pretty gross and crunchy. I had the cauliflower rice and forbidden rice with veggies and it was delicious. My husband had the chicken with forbidden rice and veggies and loved his bowl as well. Overall there is plenty of seating and parking. The restaurant is very cute and the team members were very efficient. Recently opened, I had to try it out because it looks like a "Fresh Kitchen" style restaurant and I love me some FK. It is indeed that style of quick serve restaurant. I ordered a five item bowl, two bases a meat and a veg. I had kale salad, rice, chicken and Brussels sprouts. I also had one sauce. It was pretty good but not quite FK quality and quantity. As someone else mentioned, it could be warmer. I got mine to go, but they do have a nice dining area and everything is spaced out well. I will go back and give them another chance because they are right around the corner and if they are busier, they will turn over food faster and it will be better. I think they just need to work out a few things and they will be a good option in north Pinellas. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant, because I'm Gluten free and thought it would be right up my alley. Although, we thought it was a "sit down restaurant," it's more like a Chipotle set up, with some tables. Although, they had plenty of signs to order your food from, you pick different premade food, according to how many items you want of each category. It's extremely confusing and many customers were having trouble figuring it out. I had pork, cold couscous couscous, Asian noodles and zucchini. The pork didn't have any seasoning, the couscous couscous was bland, Asian noodles were so salty that I couldn't eat it. Zucchini was soggy and inedible. A woman, at the next table, asked if we thought the food was super salty. We agreed. She'd taken her Vegan friends there and was so excited to offer her friends this option. Nobody was happy with the Vegan options, though, or how they were prepared. I paid with credit card and was prompted to tip, but thought I'd wait and put it in their tip jar, later. Although, I asked for a credit card receipt, I didn't get one. The front of house is so important. Although, there were complaints about the taste issues, they fell on deaf ears. Blank stares. On one of my many visits to Grain and Berry I noticed Grill Fresh next door and decided to stop in. I was surprised how clean looking the inside of this restaurant is. The line moves like chiptole. Customers pick a base, veggies, protein and sauce to create a bowl of their liking. All meat served is antibiotic free and they have vegetarian and vegan options available. On my visit I chose the pick five for $8.50 with tax (a really good price for a base, two veggies a protein and sauce). I chose spicy brown rice, sweet potato, sauteed garlic mushrooms, pesto and lime chicken and spicy mayo. I noticed on the line, items were sitting in various metal containers and not displayed as well as they could be. I kept looking at the signs above to choose what I wanted rather than the food in front of me. Food items were kind of pushed together and not separated well. The food was good nothing tasted like it had been sitting out. However, I didn't notice any specialty items available to cook upon request nor was anything replaced while I was in line. Grill Fresh has a few tables inside but also has a really nice outside space. A deck is available with two and four person tables and then an outside garden has picnic tables and overhead lighting for guests to enjoy. This is where I think they beat their competition. Another restaurant called The Fresh Grill in Port Richey has the same concept but it's dull inside and has no outside seating. Grill Fresh also offers specialty sodas and some limited desserts. read more

I love having this spot right around the corner from me. If you have ever been to fresh kitchen in Tampa, it's the same thing. Walk down the line and choose your toppings. I always get the six bowl: 2 bases, 2 veggies, 2 protein and sauce. The staff is friendly, the restraint is very clean, and there's even outdoor seating with cute herb plants. The portion sizes here are pretty large. I haven't been able to finish an entire bowl yet and I've been here a few times since they opened. They have tons of options for whatever diet you eat. My only complaint would be that the veggies are very bland. The proteins are all really good, as well as the bases. I just don't love the veggies. read more
