Facilities: Got a pool, gym, parking, full kitchen (though missing a pair of scissors for a kitchen), what more can you ask for! Setting: Perfect for a family. We had 3 families and a baby. With 4 bedrooms. It was perfect for us overall. Gives us room to cook and some common area to play. 2 bathrooms. Too easy! All rooms are heated too so perfect for a cold Canberra night. Condition: Clean enough for us to allow the baby to crawl around! One of the bedroom lights were flickering though but otherwise no big deal. Staff: Friendly! So what's wrong? - car park super tight. With any bigger suvs you'd seriously struggle to park - one of the bedrooms the lights flicker - we ordered an apartment with 2 queen beds and 2 rooms with 2x singles. 4 bedrooms in total. However only 1 room had a double bed the rest were all singles. Not what we booked.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a good place, it just want as good as the first time. This hotel is located in southeastern Canberra in the Kingston/Manuka area. From here you can walk to either of the areas in those two neighborhoods that has tons of restaurants, so that's good. The hotel is very nice and also modern and very clean. There's a restaurant and a restaurant/bar just off the lobby. The staff is very friendly and willing to help with whatever. The rooms are fairly spacious and as clean and modern as other areas of the hotel. My room had a fridge, coffee maker, stovetop and a nice view. A couple things I like about the hotel: the have free wifi for guests, and there are computers in the lobby you can use. Also, they have bikes you can borrow for free which you can use to get around town a bit. Like I said though, although I like the place, I don't like it as much as I used to. Why? There was a 100MB limit/day on the wifi. Somehow I burned that up in about 20 minutes my first day, despite my not downloading and files, upgrades, audio or video. I was more careful in the future and did not have this problem again (the free Canberra city wifi a block away helped). The breakfast place was different this time and although it resulted in better food, it was more expensive. I only need something simple, but that wasn't really an option. Also, my room was smaller than last time and with no bathtub. So I still like it, but it's not as good as before.

They were promised back by 5:30, starched and folded. When I checked at 6:00pm I was told they would be returned soon. When I got back from dinner at 9:00pm I was told they would be returned much later that night so I ask that they be held at the front desk so I could pick them up at 5:30 to pack them for my 6:00am departure. This morning when I went to the desk they were not ready and I was told they would be by 7am (my flight time). Eventually they were returned when I checked out at 6:00am. The shirts were on hangers and had not been pressed! The front desk staff were not even apologetic! I travel about 120 days per year and have never had such poor service!

Great guy playing guitar 4:30pm in the courtyard and the outdoor bar guy was fantastic. Then just as I'm about to provide a five star review I went inside to the terrace and ordered garlic bread and a main size of chilli prawns. A simple request of can I have the garlic bread first and the mains ten or so minutes later. At this point I was told by the bar staff in Chifleys that they cannot do that as it's too hard for terrace customers. I saw 4 customers in the terrace and most had left the courtyard, so it was not busy. I ordered and said surely you can accommodate my simple request, only to be served both dishes simultaneously and as such I sent them back. I asked to see the duty manager and he explained the policy which I think is ridiculous especially in a venue that charges $15 for a pint of craft beer. I decided to have dinner as room service and as long as the items came as ordered I'd accept them. Thankfully the garlic bread was great and so were the chilli prawns. The duty manager saved the review from being a 3 but I still believe staff need to be able to be innovative and accommodate reasonable requests from customers. It's not McDonalds it's a restaurant in a competitive precinct.

I went to work every morning which made the stay reasonable, but Monday - Saturday the construction crews worked from 7AM sharp to about 430PM. The construction also majorly screwed up my walking route to work as I had to cross multiple streets in L shaped patterns. This would have been fine, but crosswalks in Canberra are green for about 5 seconds. The fridge was OK, but filled with minibar junk I wouldn't touch. No complimentary anything. Bathroom was clearly built by UK designers as the shower overflowed onto the bathroom floor and the glass window which could have easily been 1-2 feet longer or use a door (what a crazy idea!) was just short for no reason so I had to mop my floor every morning. There's no breakfast option as I mentioned before there's a restaurant in the lobby, but you pay a la carte for everything, even coffee. It's good, but honestly just having a working coffee machine with one or two pots going is normal for even the most basic of motels. I would give the place 3 stars had it been half the price I paid. They really need to refund people's money if they expect them to stay in a place that has construction noise most of the day and construction that makes foot and car traffic awful. It's not really near anything as most of the places you want/need to go are due north or northeast of the hotel. QT seems out of the way for absolutely no reason, I really don't know why I stayed here.

If you just want drinks at the bar you need to pay with a credit or debit card as the employees don't want to go behind the front desk to get you change. If you have the exact amount, you're good. The hotel was recently renovated in 2018. However, each room seems to have a different thermostat from new to old, and the people I traveled with said their room AC either worked well or didn't. The cleanliness of the hotel was ok. There cobwebs in one corner of the room, and the bathroom floor looked like it hadn't been mopped in a while. Overall, it was ok, but if you're looking for a hotel in Canberra, do your research.
