No customer service, my husband is still stuck in Minneapolis for two weeks and counting. They keep cancelling his ticket and refunding 10% of the ticket. Then we buy another ticket and hotel and food costs. At 2000.00 for a 300.00 bus ride. Just today when he went in to get a physical ticket the lady printed it for the wrong day instead of the one that is leaving in a hour and did it for Thursday. When he told her she just smirked. No customer service. They were late for all parts of the journey. They also canceled the second leg of the trip and left all the passengers stranded in Chicago. The staff at the station refuse to help people book a new ticket and said to use their website or the app. The website and app were unavailable. Had to have a friend book a new ticket. After the trip, it took two attempts to get a refund for the trip they canceled. It was a difficult process and took multiple emails back and forth. Well...its not the cleanest nor modern of bus stops. This station has a huge echo because its so open. Folks who do not have cell phone etiquette and are loud..put on a hell of a concert!!! There are no information boards to announce the bus time/gate/location. One speaker announcement is used. I'd love to see Greyhound step their game up (buses, station, etc.) Not EVERYONE who takes the bus is down and out...and THIS IS THE IMAGE Greyhound is choosing to perpetuate! I'm the kind of person who will still use a service even if all the reviews are nasty. However, I definitely regret that. This was the worst service I have ever received in my entire life. I got to the Minneapolis station around 5:45am to catch a 6:40am bus. I knew it was already a bad idea to use Greyhound when I came in the building and people were harassing me for money and someone was trying to unzip my backpack on my back. I went up to the ticket counter to check my bag in and the front counter employee was clearly not happy about helping her customers. I guess it wasn't a big deal but it left me feeling uneasy. I eventually got in line for my bus and was careful to always be clenching all of my baggage. I waited and waited and waited until someone came on the intercom and said our bus was was delayed until further notice. I was freaking out because I had to get on the bus or else I would miss my connecting bus. Five minutes later they announced the bus was cancelled because the driver never showed up. After that there was a huge line of people crying and freaking out while the front counter tried to reroute everyone. Some were completely screwed having to wait TWO days for the next bus with no vouchers of any sort. I luckily got a noon bus to Des Moines and then to Omaha, but that six hour delay screwed up my AirBnb reservation and left me very unhappy. After finally hitting noon, I was greeted by a very rude and demeaning bus driver who said he would kick anyone off talking too loud or sitting in the seats sideways. Leaving Minneapolis we stopped at the airport for a pickup and we were stuck there for 45 MINUTES waiting for another bus to move out of the way. On the way to Des Moines, we became over an hour and half late. Yes, to my disbelief I missed the connecting bus from Des Moines to Omaha. I was completely livid. I had to reschedule TWICE and the bus driver said that we needed to get over it and to not complain to him about it. Long story short, I was stuck in Des Moines for another 5 hours. I went around to building to look for a gas station and saw someone digging in their bag and pulling out a needle and a small baggie. I was just completely shocked. There was absolutely no security there. I'm not anyone of high class to look down on others for using bus services, but I just felt that something was a little off that someone was shooting up right next to the door for employees. At the end I was supposed to be in Omaha at 3:30pm and I ended up arriving there at 2am the next day. No apologies. No help. Whenever I asked to be rescheduled I was treated like an inconvenience. I am solo-19yr old traveler, no matter how cheap I want to be I will never be using Greyhound services again. I strongly advise any of you stay away and spend a little bit extra to fly. what a joke!!! the bus station in Tulsa ok is closed and no one there to help! we had to stand outside in 34 degre weather for 6 hours because the bus was 5 hours late. then I stuck in Minneapolis MN for 3 days because they kept canceling my bus to Montana. So I'm not giving this a crap review because my bus was late (as usual), because I expected that. I'm also not hating on it because the downtown station offers NO cafeteria, which is flippin crazy! Or because my bus was delayed because of weather, since, hey no one can change that. Absolutely horrendous company, hands down. I purchased a ticket through their website Jan 6 2014, around 1230am for the same day, departing that evening. When I showed up I was informed by an unaffiliated security guard that all buses were canceled. The station was locked and dark. I called every publicly listed phone number to try and get in touch with someone and was met with unanswered phones, dead lines, or machines providing prerecorded messages with no option to reach a representative. To date (June 6 on the same year) I have yet to get a refund from this company for my paid - for - and - canceled trip. They loophole their service agreements in such a manner that you can't get a refund. To date, they have kept the $150 I paid for a bus ride. An alternative company, MegaBus, sent me an automated text message alerting me to a canceled ride and automatically credited my money back to me when their lines suffered cancelations during this same period. Greyhound left me in the dark until the hour of my departure and still refuses my refund. MegaBus cost me $55 for the same trip for which Greyhound charged $150. This company thrives on ripping off its customers via well written service agreements and refund loopholes. I do not know how it is still in business. Do a brief internet search; you will find MANY people with similar problems. I highly advise you avoid this company. They do not provide customers with a service. read more

GREYHOUND WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY. In short, Greyhound stole $150 from me. I booked my ticket months in advance, only to find out a month before that I couldn't make the date I'd scheduled. (December 30th.) Customer service told me to call them or to go to a station, and their Facebook page stated that they could reschedule me there as well. I have no access to transportation, so going to a station was not an option for me. The social media page started ignoring my messages after December 7th. I called in to reschedule, and the man I spoke with pulled my ticket up and asked me to wait a few minutes while he "checked something." He kept repeating, "Please stay on the line," every so often for about five minutes before hanging up on me. I called again and spoke to a woman, only to have her tell me that they don't reschedule on the phone. Then, I got on their live chat on the greyhound website to verify that and was told that their policy does state that you can reschedule over the phone. So, this woman lied to me. The third time I called, I heard, "Hello, thank you for calling Grey-" and the line went dead. Presumably because the guy hung up on me, just as the first person had. The next time I called, I was told that there was an issue with my ticket and the ONLY way I could reschedule was to go into a station and do it. I thanked the woman and called back, asking to speak with a manager. After explaining the situation to the manager and stating that I'd been saving up for my ticket for a whole year before purchasing it, I was still told that my only option was to go into a station. I asked if I could get a refund due to the fact that they couldn't reschedule me on the phone and I couldn't get to a station, and was told no. Their social media page has yet to respond to me, despite three requests to reschedule through them. (Note that I'd contacted the social media page before calling five times, and all my calls were spread out over a week rather than back-to-back. I also ALWAYS make a point to be polite because customer service is a crappy job, so I wasn't hung up on because I was rude.) In short, Greyhound has treated me like garbage, refused to help me at all despite the fact that they can't do what was promised upon purchasing my ticket, and has refused to refund me. read more

Ugh. Greyhound. Despite having a fairly nice facility -- that is, as far as Greyhound stations go -- I've only had so-so experiences here. Unlike the Chicago station, where Greyhound Express boarding groups are strictly enforced, the Minneapolis staff doesn't seem to have a problem with the "cattle call" style of boarding. In other words, first come, first served. And don't even think about getting in line in front of those lined up suitcases; everyone knows that a suitcase in line is the equivalent of a person in line, and people won't be afraid to yell at you if you try to (accidentally) budge. One ridiculous aspect about this station -- and the reason people line up their suitcases -- is that the seats and tables are not close to the gates themselves (as you can see in one of the Yelp pictures). As a result, you'll have to choose between sitting on a seat or standing in line (or sitting on your suitcase...or sitting on the floor...or putting your suitcase in line). But, whatever. It's a Greyhound station. And my expectations for such should be reflected in my rating. Which they are. read more

On July 10th, 2014, on schedule number 4931, bus number 7033, with driver J Rath, my daughter and I took the 12 pm - 6 pm trip from Saint Paul, MN to Milwaukee, WI. At pick up, the bus driver stated that my daughter and I could not sit together. I stated to him that I had purchased two seats to ensure she would have a spot and she is only 2 years old. He still said that he could not help me. Once on the bus, another passenger, offered her seat. The bus driver was of no assistance to me. Later, in Milwaukee, the bus driver tossed my daughter's carseat and my luggage. The carseat fell close to my daughter and her car seat disassembled. I looked at the bus driver directly and asked him to please not be so rude to us. Upset, I went inside to speak with greyhound staff, the bus driver followed me in and states "I don't know what's wrong with this bitch." This was said in front of the greyhound staff, other passengers in the lobby, and my two year old daughter. He continued to mumble under his breath and call me a bitch. I have worked in customer service for many years and understand there can be moments of frustration but this behavior was unacceptable. Calling me a bitch in front of my daughter was completely unacceptable. I expect Greyhound to respond to this matter. Went to get a drink and came back less than an hour after it was supposed to leave to locked station doors and a security guard motioning that they are closed. We found a way around as the bus was pulling away. They never notified me of the cancellation - and were surprised to hear that I was even able to book the ticket late the night before due to all the cancellations. I had purchased a ticket from Seattle to Minneapolis. When arriving in the Seattle station it smelled of urine and extremely filthy. I had to wait outside because of the horrific smell and uncleanliness. As soon as I got on the bus there was a man wearing no mask sneezing and coughing in a sock he seemed to leave on his chair. When I went to sit down there was another man directly in the seat in front of me picking his nose constantly using the chair as his tissue and scratching himself everywhere. While I was sitting down a man sat right across from me harassing me I move and he's constantly following me. I ask him to please leave me alone he seemed like he moved away but came right back I ignored him. As a female alone traveling by myself I felt very uncomfortable and degraded. When I went to use the bathroom it was dirty with blood on the walls and had a foul odor. The lack of cleanliness made me sick to my stomach! I try to continue my trip but got as far as Minneapolis I could no longer tolerate the harassment and filth I was completely skeeved out ! This was the worst experience I've ever had dealing with greyhound! I'm appalled at the conditions of the establishment, lack of safety and poor customer service! Return leg (Minneapolis-Chicago) of round trip express bus. Arrived at the terminal (which is fairly clean and bright) for the 7:25p departure printed on my ticket but was told the bus to Chicago actually departs at 9:15p and arrives in Chicago at 5:40am - though my ticket said 7:00p arrival (Greyhound said the "express" bus times are different only for "price" purposes). Anyways I was told I could leave and come back so I walked over to Hennepin Avenue where there are restaurants and bars (I relaxed at the first floor bar at Solera Cocina de Espana). The bus was filled to capacity, a very diverse crowd including a few couples with children, but everyone was well-mannered. Wi-fi worked fine but the guy behind me said he didn't have a working power outlet and wanted to use my seatmate's (who was trying to sleep). It was difficult to sleep without inadvertently bumping into or being bumped by my seatmate. Bus driver sounded and spoke exactly like the Marge character in "Fargo" and had a similar hairdo - how can you not like someone like that? Arrived at the Chicago terminal about 10 minutes early. At least in the summertime, it's light out with people around, so walking the 2 blocks to the subway felt safe. Maybe it wasn't the most comfortable ride (it was a bit warm but the overhead vent helped), but I'd recommend Greyhound for the value - a third of the price of airfare and it beats having to drive yourself. read more

My college age son was going from Green Bay, WI to Mankato, MN. Starts out in Green Bay with the bus 20 minutes late, then by the time he had a bus change in Minneapolis, MN the bus was 2 hours late with NO accommodation for him to get to Mankato, MN which is 1.5 hours away! The bus station was CLOSED! He had to find a ride, and pay that person to bring him back to school! Now I have had NO customer service rep answer my call for over 35 minutes (I am on hold). I tried to do live "chat" but they said "no service available at this time". I lost faith and trust in this bus service! Leaving customers stranded in the cold is horrible. Went to meet a relative off a bus from Sioux Falls and mistakenly walked over to the platform area and the security guard shouted and repeated several times at me "Can you not read - get back in the waiting area!". And then continued to be belligerent and berating. Pretty shocking; extremely confrontational - I would suggest to Greyhound to check to see if the security guards they hire have a sense of respect for others before they put them in front of the public. i use this to Greyhound between Minneapolis and Rochester at least twice month. + Facility is clean + WiFi in station + Staff is ok + Busses have had reliable power and Wifi + Seating not too cramped + Drivers are either on-time or early + Cost is comparable to the cost of two tanks of gas to go back and forth - The phone number listed is unanswered. They don't have a customer service rep. at the station. They want you to call an 800 number instead that isn't displayed on their website or this one. Why even put the number out there if you're not going to answer the phone? I had a simple question and tried their number all day yesterday and nothing. I'm lucky and can walk to the station and ask my question, but I don't really have time for that. That's just stupid. I had the same issue when going from Minneapolis to Chicago. ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE or at least put the right one on the internet. - Boarding for the bus is a free-for-all and not organized. This was especially bad at Christmas. - Why do I have to show up 45 mins in advance? the bus isn't even that early. The last time I commuted to Rochester I was the only one on the bus. After buying a roundtrip ticket for the holidays, I showed up at the scheduled time to find that I wasn't going to be taking a greyhound bus, but a Jefferson lines bus. The seat that I was provided was ripped with the springs digging right into me. On the greyhound website, it states that all greyhound busses have wifi, plug ins for your devices, and reclining, leather seats. There wasn't even one public outlet, no wife, and the seat was cloth with a huge tear in it. The seat was tiny and some guy was rubbing up against me the whole time. Little did I know then, this would be the least of my troubles. On the day of my return trip, there was a significant snow storm. My ticket wasn't refundable so I called to see if the bus would be running. Greyhound told me that it was and it was on time. Our only option then was to brave the whiteout conditions and try to make it to the bus. I arrived early and waited patiently due to the weather. After about an hour, I asked the lady at the truck stop I was being picked up at if she knew when the bus would be arriving. She then told me that I had to call Jefferson lines, which is confusing because my ticket clearly said greyhound on it. I then called Jefferson lines who informed me that the bus had been cancelled all day and that I should have called ahead. I explained to her that I had called ahead and I was now stranded at a truck stop that was going to be closing in a blizzard. I asked her what she could do for me and her response verbatim was "absolutely nothing." I then called greyhound again and explained what had happened and all they did was repeatedly give me the stock answer, "we are not responsible for the weather." I explained that the weather wasn't the issue, the issue was that I had been severely inconvenienced due to incorrect information. The customer service agent then asked if there was anything else she could do for me, I explained that she hadn't done anything for me. The next noise I heard was a dial tone. If you HAVE to take a bus and buy a ticket from greyhound, understand this, you might or might not end up with greyhound as the bus company transporting you, the fantastic claims about their state of the line busses is not true, and if they screw anything up that inconveniences you, they won't offer any recompense. Even worse, they really don't seem to care that you're unhappy in any way. I STRONGLY advise anyone that is traveling, do ANYTHING you possibly can to avoid this company. I bought an online, non-refundable ticket from MPLS to Appleton, WI. We got to the terminal and the only employee there was a security guard who had to let everyone know that there were no buses arriving or leaving for at least two days due to cold weather. So we had no one to ask about if our trip was being rescheduled or what. We tried calling all day after going back home, just got a busy signal. I tried emailing and didn't get a reply for four days. We ended up finding an alternative ride, but when I tried to get my money back, they told me that because my tickets was non-refundable, I still had to pay! This wasn't a delay, this is a flat-out cancellation with no notification or way of reaching anyone for more info. I don't even think they read my email -- just saw the words "want a refund" and that my ticket is non-refundable, and sent me a canned response. Horrible customer service, and I'm pursuing this with the BBB. read more

My mother was scheduled to get on the bus, showed up 2 hours early because her bus wasn't scheduled to leave until 12:55 am. When she got there she gave them her paperwork and they told her she was good to go, they even gave her the tags for her bags and everything. Once the bus finally arrived, they wouldn't let her board because they told her she needed a boarding pass. The bus station would not print her one up because they said that they could not find her in the system yet when I called their main office at 5:00am the next morning they had no problem locating her in their system. She had two hours where she could have fixed whatever issue there might have been regarding her ticket yet the person working behind the counter apparently didn't know what the hell she or he was doing. Then to make things worse they told her if she wanted to reschedule SHE would have to pay additional on top of the $200+ I already paid for the tickets for her to get onto another bus. If this is what they call offering their highest customer service guaranteed then they fucken suck at it. They really need to train the people they have working for them a little better than what they do because this all could have been avoided instead of making my mother wait for two hours until the bus arrived only to not let her board. read more
