(Note: I wrote this review when Grey operated under the name Razzi.)
Razzi is a restaurant that's connected to the local Hilton Cardiff Hotel, where a family member and I stayed during our trip to Cardiff. We actually ended up eating dinner in the hotel the same night as a big rugby game - the local bars and pubs were packed, so while we're normally big on eating at a local spot during our travels, the idea of eating at our hotel and just taking an elevator back to our rooms afterward was pretty appealing at that time.
Thankfully, despite the rugby rush, there were indeed seats for my travel buddy and I at Razzi that night. Between the two of us we ended up ordering chicken served with mushroom caps and chips, mushroom soup, a tomato and mozzarella salad and minestrone soup. What a meal! Everything was delicious, but I particularly remember that my salad had the freshest mozzarella I tasted during 2015, which combined with the fresh salad itself was perfection. And the mushroom soup (which was so thick we could use it as sauce, too) was AMAZING! I even joked at one point with my travel buddy that the soup was made of "creamy and warm and yum." So Razzi definitely took the prize for best hotel food I enjoyed during the trip - during all of 2015, even.
As an added bonus, they offer to serve their wines in small, medium, or large cups (the actual sizes are listed on the menu) - what a great idea! Sometimes you just want a little wine before you head to bed, so the size chart ensures that hotel guests can enjoy a nightcap in a size of their choosing.
While the food was great we admittedly didn't receive the quickest service during our meal here - but that likely was due to the restaurant and bar being open to the public, which meant it was slammed during the rugby match that night. Overall, though, I was pleased with my meal here - and I definitely think Razzi is an excellent addition to a beautiful hotel. read more
