I hired Wendy to oversee redecorating my 1 bedroom condo over the Summer of 2024. It included…read morepaint selection, window treatments carpet, wall unit built in and new furniture . when I arrived in the Fall to supposedly my finished apt I found a disaster. $8000 carpet that was ruined by her installer. $11,000 in window treatments that didn't operate and the apartment which was supposed to be painted completely ---unfinished and a very unprofessional job. These were all contractor's engaged by Wendy that she was responsible for overseeing. But the worst was the $15,000 wall unit that was built in my bedroom where I stressed the importance of my desk area. There was not a single outlet available on that wall to plug in anything so they had to chop up the wall unit so that I could plug in my computer. Wendy was nowhere to be found. While she responded to my emails and texts, she never came back over to the apartment once I arrived to assist in getting any of this resolved. In addition, she attempted to bill me for hours spent looking at furniture before consulting with me. Her "design product" consisted of a bunch of screenshots from Perigold. I immediately fired her and took over the work-- i don't believe Wendy is professionally trained at any level Certainly her care about her clients is lacking. Felt like she would just get away with whatever she could.

The best part of this project was the installation. Alex and Gerson are probably the very best technicians I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The project includes removal of my existing built-in closet and installation of my new one which was anticipated to take 3 days. It was completed in a little overcast day and a half. They were amazingly fast and talented in their work performance. Having worked in construction and renovation of properties I can tell you their performance was exceptional. We had a few after completion changes which were also completed professionally and perfectly. I highly recommend this company if you are planning to renovate your closet.

Absolutely unacceptable experience with Closets By Design…read more We had a confirmed appointment to meet a sales rep at their showroom to finalize our project. When the time came, every attempt to reach her went straight to voicemail--three calls, no response. No heads-up, no follow-up, nothing. So we called the main office expecting at least a basic level of professionalism. Instead, we were met with one of the most dismissive and rude customer service interactions I've experienced. We explained that rescheduling was difficult for us and simply asked to work with another associate so we could move forward. That request was met with excuses, attitude, and ultimately we were told--very clearly--that our situation didn't matter and everything would happen strictly on their terms. The call was then abruptly ended. To make matters worse, we followed up via email and have received zero response for four days. If this is how Closets By Design treats potential customers before they even earn your business, I can only imagine how bad it gets once they have your money. Take your time, money, and project somewhere else. This company clearly does not value either

Withheld homeowner's paid-for materials and left a family without a usable kitchen…read more Our experience with Holz Home Design has been extremely disappointing and damaging. After our contractor was terminated, Holz refused to release remaining cabinetry materials required to complete our kitchen unless the contractor paid his outstanding balance -- despite the fact that we, the homeowners, had already paid for the cabinets. As a result, our kitchen was left half finished and unusable for an extended period of time, causing significant hardship to our family, including a household with a baby under one year old. We offered to pay Holz directly for the materials currently completed and being held for our project, but still refused to release the materials. Homeowners should be aware that Holz's business practices may leave you caught in the middle of contractor payment issues, even when you are willing to resolve matters directly. This situation created unnecessary stress, delays, and disruption in our home. I would strongly caution any homeowner to fully understand how materials are controlled and released before proceeding with this company.

These guys ruined my Hunter Douglas blinds. If I could give negative stars, I would. I was scammed…read more They first offered me a discount on blind cleaning in exchange for a positive review on Yelp for a previous upholstery job (cushions); so I wrote a nice review. I regret it. No discount was given. Instead, they changed the initial blind cleaning quote to a higher quote. Not cheap. They were not able to put back one of the blinds properly. One came back with a big spot that was not there before. When I complained, they took it back and did not return it for weeks. I had to chase the owner who ghosted me and did not return my calls. I finally got it back. It was ruined: it doesn't close properly anymore. And now all the blinds that they cleaned are warped. How these guys have a license from Hunter Douglas to clean expensive blinds is beyond me. I reported them to Hunter Douglas. Unfortunately, they said they can't control quality from independent businesses. Big scam. I got taken by these guys and my blinds are ruined.

Most interior decorators only design for high end properties but Barbara designs for both high end properties and yachts while also amenable to small projects. Thank goodness! Barbara has a depth of experience and knows how to listen to the client. She took all of my comments and added her knowledge to come up with a design, furniture and accessories that were within my budget of $10,000. Barbara gives you choices so if you want to spend a little more or a little less in one area you have options. My explicit desire was to have a blue accent wall downstairs. I LOVE my blue accent walls. Barbara chose a blue color that added a WOW factor when you walked into the home. Barbara managed the whole project, coordinated the furniture delivery, painters and electricians. She even made trips to several spots to pick up items. She incorporated almost all of my accessories and paintings in the final design. She is a perfectionist and goes more than the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect. She designed the living room, dining room, power room while selecting paint colors for all rooms and hanging paintings in every room of the house. While the final cost was slightly less than $10,000 I feel the value of the home increased by more than $10,000. I am absolutely thrilled with all of Barbara's work which only took 4 days of actually working in my home. Barbara is quick and efficient and, above all, you can completely trust her judgment.
