I've been to Greg's Cookout a few times at the Hallandale Beach Blvd location. The ambiance is casual, the staff is friendly, and the service is great. I've ordered sweet habanero wings, mac and cheese gratin, and djon djon rice. One thing about many Haitian restaurants is they can be hit or miss--flavors vary from visit to visit. But at Greg's, I've had consistently flavorful meals every time. Though it's a bit pricey, it's always been a hit, never a miss. I've always left satisfied!
This was my first time trying Haitian food. I came with my Haitian friend and it did not disappoint. Seriously. We got the fish, legumes, stew. I personally had the legumes and I was truly blown away. Didn't realize legumes (with the beef stew) could be so delicious! My friends and I kept raving about the food throughout the meal and after. One note is, service is pretty prompt, but food took a while to come out, probably over an hour for 3 people (and there was only another table getting served; granted, the restaurant had just opened). But for the flavor of the food, 10/10. The restaurant was spacious and clean.
Came here twice and the food hit every time--10/10. Clean spot, amazing Haitian dishes, and definitely worth the 30-minute wait. They had a DJ playing great Haitian music when I visited which made the whole vibe even better. I even picked up a plate and took it to the movies one night. It was still fire.
I've noticed this restaurant on social media for about a month or so and finally made it here. I'm so happy that I did!!! The service was great with the server being very helpful and flashing a beautiful smile. She helped me decided what to drink and it did not disappoint. The island breeze was refreshing and delicious. I also had the whole fried snapper, and baby it was seasoned to the bone, along with the rice djon djon, and plantains. Everything was amazing. The flavors danced upon my palate as if they were auditioning for a party in a production. I will definitely be coming back. What a GEM!!!
The food here is delicious! Perfectly seasoned. The atmosphere was pretty chill, went during lunch time. And the service was great as well. I'm definitely adding this as a go to whenever I want Haitian food.
Currently here... walked in was immediately greeted && seated. I was the only customer at the time. They opened at 11 I came around 12:30 didn't get my food till after 1:30... the mac&&cheese is hot, fresh && delish... nice size lounge just wish the service was faster... the food was really good. They told me they didn't serve alcohol til after 5 I think so I only had water to wash it down... the food is plentiful though...
Sigh I always want to support my Caribbean people but it's always something. I was advised to make a reservation so I did with a $50 deposit for Mother's Day dinner. We were seated on time but waited a long time to get our drinks and appetizers. They also ran out of several menu options. No oxtail, conch, meatballs, chicken, and passionfruit juice. The restaurant was not busy so the wait didn't make any sense. The positives were that the food and drinks were delicious. The restaurant is decorated nicely. There's room for smaller groups to dine comfortably together. Overall experience could have been better. I would not come back for a sit down meal. I would definitely order to go if I do decide to come back.
I visited Greg's CookOut and was seated quickly in a spacious booth, which made for a comfortable start. The Haitian music was loud and energetic, giving the restaurant a lively, authentic vibe. My waitress was friendly at first, and I ordered the meatballs, black rice, mac n cheese, and plantains. The food was excellent -- full of Caribbean flavor and spice. They provided piklis, but the meal already had plenty of heat. I also ordered a lychee martini that was really good, although I requested extra lychees and never received them. Service became an issue as the meal went on. My waitress took a long time to return and never checked back in; I eventually had to flag someone down just to pay. I was also given a dirty fork with visible crusted food on it. I told my waitress and asked for plastic utensils instead. When the bill came, I noticed a charge for the plastic utensils. I explained again that the original fork was dirty, and she told me it didn't matter -- that's just their charge. I even tried to show her the fork, and she still insisted it didn't matter. I asked for a manager, who looked at the fork, confirmed it was dirty, and removed the charge. It feels unreasonable for a restaurant of this caliber to charge a customer for requesting clean utensils, especially when the ones provided were dirty in the first place. The food itself was delicious, and that's the one thing they absolutely excel at. I'd return and order takeout solely for the great food, but I wouldn't dine in again.
I had NO IDEA that this business was located near Hallandale, since my only visit at their Miami branch behind Jackson Hospital. When I went overthere, they were very professional to me. I ordered one of their very delicious plates, and their tostones were really good and sweet! I remember I didn't have enough to pay for the Jupiña and the cashier gave it to me for free on the house. I was treated well at their Miami location at Jackson Hospital as their customer, and their food was amazing! I only entered their new Hallandale location once for pickup, and it was completely hidden!
Excellent Haitian Caribbean Food, The service was better than any Caribbean restaurant I have been to. The waitress was very pleasant. Even though she was the only waitres waiting on about 5-6 tables. She was very attentive. The food came out hot, fresh, and ready! The flavors are authentic! I had the Turkey Tassot Simple and the Griot Complete with Djon Djon, fried plantain, and pikliz. We also ordered a side of Mac and Cheese. The Mac and Cheese was creamy and savory. They add green and red peppers which gives it a nice flavor. It compliments the Entrees very well. I did not try the fresh juices but I heard they were good. Overall, great service, nice restaurant, great food. I will be back!
Purchased food to go and was not satisfied. I ordered the salmon with black rice. Upon opening the container I flipped the salmon over and it was burnt. The food took about 40 minutes to prepare and the restaurant was empty with only one table with 4 people. I am highly disappointed in the food provided and the kitchen staff should've known better
Food here is really good. They get no complaints from me about the food. I ordered the Tasso Turkey complete. And probably the juiciest fried turkey I've had in a while. Even the fried plantains were so light and airy on the inside. The wife enjoyed her stew chicken. The food here is flavorful and spicy but not too spicy. The ambience here was a kinda dark, chill, date night vibes. (We came at night). This place definitely would've been a 5* but where it fell off was the service. And not that it was bad cause it wasn't. It's just they definitely need more help there. The night we came there was only two ladies serving. We came at a time where there was maybe 4 parties in the restaurant. But that quickly changed as the night went by. We ordered drinks after ordering food and my wife got her's but I didn't get mines much much later. And to me; only reason cause our waitress was/is doing the job of 3 people and she's only one person. It was so bad I had to go to the bar to ask for to-go plates and still waited to get that after awhile. But Overall great food great atmosphere but pact patience.
Maaaannnn... the FOOD was incredible! I'll be honest, the name threw me off & I didn't know what to expect walking into Greg's Cookout. But wow, I was completely blown away. 11/10, no question. The vibes were on point, great music, great ambiance, just an all around good energy. They don't do traditional shots, but their wine-infused cocktails definitely make up for it. They're unique, strong, and you'll feel them after a couple (in the best way). This place seriously deserves way more recognition. And shoutout to our waitress, Lamanda! She had us stepping out of our comfort zone trying new drinks, and I'm glad we did. We'll definitely be back soon.

Greg's is still top tier! They finally have a real drink menu!! The food is always good! They could use more help but the girls try their hardest to take care of everyone. Still top 5 Haitian restaurants in South Florida IMO! read more

Okay! I have been wanting to visit this location for so long as the reviews I've heard are amazing, spoiler alert - they were not wrong! My friend and I walked in around 6:00pm and it took approximately a minute for someone to greet us. This didn't bother us too much as we were taking in the atmosphere and were just happy to be there, LOL. We were seated at a booth, however ended up opting to sit at the bar because the booth chairs are low. The bar was clean and comfortable so that was a plus. Service at the bar and overall the entire restaurant seemed slow. Our waitress let us know that the food would take about 35 minutes so she took that first and then went onto the drinks and hookah. We appreciated the heads up. For food, I got the Tasso Kabrit (Fried Goat) - Complete) which comes with your choice of right and plantains- I opted for black rice. My friend got the grilled shrimp with black rice. We both got a side of Macaroni as well. All of these were so good! In all honesty, the shrimp was probably the best shrimp i've had in a long time. The goat was also so good and flavorful. Everything was actually perfect. They are not a full bar so be mindful however they have 3 specialty cocktails and we got the Darker the berry and very mellow, both of these were so good! Not too strong, and tasted like they were made with the real ingredients. The reason for the low rating, despite great food and ambiance is because of the subtle hygiene. I dropped my mac and cheese and our server got Me a new one (I was extremely grateful) However, once the I got home, my mac had a red long hair baked inside- my hair is blonde. This just put a damper on the entire experience I also witnessed one of the ladies lick Her hands and touch a cup and one of the other ladies were touching dirty glasses and then proceeded to make patrons drinks. Overall, I would go back but hygiene and sanitation needs to be updated. read more

The food is soooo EXCELLENT. If we talking about Haitian food this is where you need to come and try some. The food is always fresh also hot and don't come here if you are in a rush because great food isn't quick it takes time. The service is slow but that's okay because typically when I go there it's one server so give her grace when you go. I love the set up it is spacious, has a tv, and music is playing in the background. (Free parking) read more

I wanted to try this spot for a little while and I finally got the chance. I wasn't able to dine in so I decided to do an online order for pickup. I went in but my order wasn't quite ready yet. I did my order at 11:03 am and it was ready by 12:15 pm. The wait for the food was not long once I arrived for pick up. Since the order was around opening time there was no one but staff present. The young lady who was at the bar (didn't catch her name) was nice and helpful. My food came out pipping hot! Presentation was great. I do wish they gave more shrimp for the creole shrimp order but hey. I had like 3 and a half shrimps for my rice and fried plantain. I also ordered Tasso turkey and it was delicious. Both came with red beans and rice and two fried plantains. I also ordered a side of macaroni which was good. I do plan to return to dine in and try other menu items. The inside of the restaurant was clean. Try them out! read more

This food blew me out of the water.... 10/10! The temperature was perfect, flavor was there, not too salty, and server was great. It did take awhile for our drinks and food to come.... but I gave grace because it was only one server on the floor. The only downside was the wait and the $20 cocktails, the price wasn't disclosed nor was there a drink menu so I felt cheated. Other than that, I would go again and just not order a drink because the drink was more than my meal.......... read more

One thing that makes a restaurant stand out above the rest is consistency. After several visits I can honestly say that they are on top of their game. The food is always hot and fresh with the perfect amount of seasoning. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!!!!!! Kudos to the chef!!!! read more

The best haitian food in south Florida. Service was on time. Food was great. It is one of the reasons I came back to Florida because North Carolina had no real Haitian cuisine. read more

This restaurant opened just a few months ago. I decided to check it out. The ambiance is relaxed with a Caribbean vibe. I ordered the fried chicken dinner which came with rice and peas and plantains. The chicken was flavored well. Crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The plantains had a nice crisp but still tender on the inside. Our waitress was very attentive and provided great service.the only downside was no alcohol being served and the passionfruit juice was very very sweet. A little too sweet for me. Other than that, a great meal. read more

Five star experience! One of the best haitian restaurants I've had in such a long time. I remember Chef Greg's old restaurant in Boca Raton and I am so glad he's set up shop in Miami! The service is immaculate and the food turn around time is typically 10-15 minutes or less. Truly a gem I have already ordered a plethora of times. My parents shared the Fried Snapper, which was fresh, with a light crisp and perfect with the stew sauce on the side. The Plantains are freshly fried along with a flavorful rice of your choice being either Djon Djon Black Rice or regular Rice and Beans. Second, I ordered the Fried Goat or Kabrit, and it was moist, flavorful and not too greasy! I loved it and have ordered it 3 times since then with a side of Macaroni, and Djon Djon Rice. Truly amazing. The stew goat, stew turkey and mango habanero chicken wings are also so tender, flavorful and truly worth the drive. Always grab a side of macaroni! You will never regret it. And don't forget to top that off with a lemonade. If you are considering uber eats, yes, it is worth the wait!!! read more
I'm Haitian-American so I'm very familiar with Haitian food. I visited Greg's Cookout for the first time yesterday and the food was amazing. It might've been the best Haitian food that I've ever had. The griot bites were tender and had a light coating of this delicious sauce. The fried fish was fresh and seasoned. The rice and beans were cooked perfectly. The fried plantains were airy and crispy. Christine, our server, was so sweet and attentive from beginning to end. The restaurant is small and decorated simply. The music was also great - they played a mix of different Haitian songs. My only 2 points of criticism were the price of the drinks and my check. I ordered a small cocktail mix and it was $20. Although, it was made decently, I've had much better cocktails for much less. They also add a 3% processing fee if you pay the check with your credit card, which I thought was, for lack of a better word, tacky. Overall, I'll be back for the food and music and be sure to bring cash lol read more

The food was amazing and the location is perfect! My group ordered couch in sauce, creole shrimp, and fried goat. The plantains are fried perfectly and fresh. It was cooked to perfection with the right amount of spices. I would come back. The service was great and we were greeted well. The ambiance is average. It's all black. read more
