I hired Peter for a very basic matter to get a court order birth certificate. I live 1,000 miles…read moreaway. He was incredidbly incompetent. Phone calls and emails never returned.... paperwork was incredibly sloppy. I had to constantly correct him on dates, cities and spellings in his pleadings. Which should have been a very straight forward and inexpensive legal matter turned into a very very expensive matter. He failed to send me billings in a timely manner - and I had to challenge him on the honesty of the billings. I felt I had to pay for his incompetence. I feel he took advantage of me since I lived so far away.

and here is WHY! I consulted with Mr. Sartore regarding a matter for which I wanted to have a cease…read moreand desist letter send out. I came with a complete template to the consultation time and stated to him my reason to come to him is a letterhead by a lawyer makes more impact. We agreed and this was to be send within the week in time set we met, to be registered mail to addresse' so making sure the person it is directed to will sign for it, and cost be $300.00 dollar plus GST. I left his office having paid in full for service and price agreed on. I also ask to have copy of letter seen before send out should I feel need for changes. **He appologized for sending copy to me for approval as he was late with it. I again expressed making sure it is REGISTERED and gave OK.** After 5 attempts to hear back from Mr. Sartore if he had received a response to letter send eventual 1 month and 10 days after due date ,and when i put pressure to my request saying I want copy not only of his letter send but also proof it was send registered send since I want to go on with the matter but now choosing some other more to me competend to my matter lawyer. Next day Mr. Sartore called and told me it is ready for me to pic-up. At home going over the papers not only does his OFFICE *not* proof-read as my name was spelled total incorrect but he pretended to be a good fellow and to give me credit of $69.82 cent over and the agreed amount he now showed charging me?? Which was the now $360.00. To conclude: He is not in time but late to me unprofessional. He charges more from the agreed between us amount, and he had been paid He does NOT spell clients name in this case mine correct and that can have a possible inpact when matter goes to court. Legal Laws. Case can be dismissed. He does not care to notify within agreed time but is late. All of the above in my opinion are a sloppy way of handling legal offered service. I speak off my experience ONLY and this is not intended to influence anyone using the service of Mr. Sartore.

My negative review here is quite simple and the facts can be checked at the Calgary Courthouse…read morerecords section. I hired Brad Minuk to handle my divorce in August of 2016. At the time I needed someone to sign a power if attorney for me and Brad's office happened to be in the same building where one of my close friends had his at the time. That's how I came to hire Brad Minuk to handle my impending divorce. I inquired as to the cost as I didn't have much money at the time and was told that it would cost $1,000 all-in but I would have to do the filing work myself. I was also told that if I wanted Brad to do the filing up to and including the final divorce it would cost $1,500 all-in. I decided I could afford that and it would be worth it. Quite a few months went by, a portion of which time was my responsibility in getting certain documents to Brad and his associate. Brad used an agreement I had already worked out with my ex-wife to work out another more comprehensive settlement. I received some billing during this period but certainly not to the amount of $1,500 which I had given him in advance as requested. When the final agreement had been drafted I met with Brad again and was told that all the funds he'd had from me were used up and if I wanted the divorce to be filed and completed it would cost me another $1,000. He gave me all sorts of excuses, none of them satisfactory. As a result I then did the ENTIRE filing process on my own (without any assistance from Brad or his associates) and received my final decree in early March of 2019. To this day I am angry about being lied to and cheated by this man and currently feel the need to warn others who might fall into similar circumstances. Dr. Stefan Sikora

Mark represented my mom in her personal injury case. Mark Lawson Is my Hero…read more I was in an incredibly stressful situation for 5 months before I emailed Mark for the first time. I was in an incident involving a van and my bicycle where I would not admit liability for what the mans insurance company was demanding I pay, over $3000 dollars for damage to a van. which they promptly sent to collections, who in turn threatened to ruin my credit (I wont even go in to how outrageous this situation was for me). Before I contacted Mark I had messaged at least 11 different law offices, my insurance company, and other lawyers. Not one would help me, I imagine they can't leverage my situation to make it worth there time (they couldn't make money off my situation). Bicycles do not require insurance and I was not injured nor was my bicycle damaged at all (I still cant understand how his van was demolished by a BICYCLE that sustained no damage, let alone for 1/3rd the price of his entire vehicle.) Point is I was sick with stress it was affecting every relationship in my life, I have enough problems, this year has been awful. I could cope with everything else in my life fine but this situation really affected my mental health, I had no idea what to do or what options I had. The worst part in my mind was that I felt like this was some kind of extortion and I mean that because I was NEVER given a chance to tell my version of the events. AllState just demanded money from me using scare tactics by there collections agency 9Consolidated Recovery Systems) who lied to a point blank question "Can you ruin my credit if I don't know how to deal with this situation right away?" they said "Yes", I recorded that conversation by the way because yea they suck and totally lied. Mark was a busy guy but he listened to my story and responded right away to every one of my emails with solid advice every time. Each time giving me a new avenue to explore while I was trying to find a way to defend myself from this company. I was still stressed but over the course of 2 weeks and only a few emails to Mark about my situation and how things where progressing the last piece of advice that fixed it all was to call Equifax directly and ask them about the situation. I never thought of that, and I'm glad he said that because when I did Equifax told me almost word for word everything Mark had been telling me. Basically "Don't worry they cant ruin your credit until you have had a chance to say your side of the story, and to do that they will have to bring you to court so if they do you should be ready to defend yourself". That was all I needed to hear because all I wanted was to be able to say my side of the story, so id love to go to court if they decided to go that rout. That night I couldn't believe all the stress was going away, since then it was like a knot in my brain was released, I was able to have fun with my family again, I was a totally different person after that and it felt so good to be myself again. Mark didn't have to do what he did, he took the time to listen and talk to me when no one else would give me the time of day. He had nothing really to gain from helping me but he did anyway and for that he is truly my hero. The best I can do to repay him is post this review for him and when I find work again I'm going to get him something to say thank you, a fancy bottle of wine or something. I will never forget what he did. I'm not religious but I know the story of "The Good Samaritan" from the Bible. Mark Lawson you are the good Samaritan, Thank you. Sincerely, Gabriel Binette P.S. He said to contact him if they decide to take it to court. If that happens then I will.
