My teeth and gums have been my Achilles' heel ever since my teenage years. For most of my adult life I would visit both my regular dentist and periodontist twice a year. These regular visits continued until several years ago when, by coincidence, both my hygienists changed their hours which made it difficult for me to schedule apts. While looking for a new dentist in the Media area, which is near my office, Dr. Hillyard's office was recommended. The hours were very convenient and included evening hours. Since my first apt I have been extrememly pleased with the quality of professional care I receive at Dr. Hillyard's office. My hygienist, Michelle, is very skilled and throrough. Dr. Hillyard also is thorough in examing my teeth after Michelle's hard work, unlike other dentists who perform a cursory evaluation. The dental care I receive at Dr. Hillyard's practice has exceeded every expectation. One great benefit has been instruction to improve my home care techniques. Due to numerous dental and periodontal problems that have plagued me for years, I have been quite diligent in caring for my teeth; however, Dr. Hillyard gave me additional pointers in how more effective to use my "rubber tip:" device. I have noticed sigificant improvement in the strength of my gums. In addition, Michelle, my devoted hygenist, introduced me to "prxabrush" care, which I now use every day. As a result of this fine teamwork, my teeth remain cleaner and mu gums are stronger than ever. I have been able to eliminate visits to the periodontist which saves me a great deal of time and money. For most of my adult life I dreaded dental and periodontal visits due to discomfort and disappointment in my overall oral health. When my former dentist retired early, I chose Dr. Hillyard to replace him. Expecting a typical dental experience, I was surprised at the more comfortable atmosphere in the waiting room, and an exceptionally pleasant receptionist and support staff. More than that, however, I recognized that I received a much better quality of care than I had had at my previous dentist who I had used for 30 years! Perhaps having patients wear sunglasses is now the norm in dental practices to combat the effects of the excruciatingly bright light that is necessary for proper evaluation and treatment, but they were not offered to me in the past. Furthermore, Dr. Hillyard is very practical and conservative in his approach to repairing or replacing old fillings. The most recent work that he did in a effort to preserve a lower molar is no less than stunning! It is an incredibly beautifuljob. Finally, my dental hygienist, Michelle, also deserves proper acknowledgement. She is very personable, respectful, and does a thorough and remarkable job, as expected from this outstanding team. Today was my first visit to Dr. Hilyard's office. I was seen promptly and Danielle did a great job as hygenist, cleaning my teeth thoroughly, and answering any questions I had. I then met with Dr. Hilyard who did a thorough examination of my teeth, took some pictures (not x-rays) and then went over the photos with me. He explained areas where my teeth have some minor changes and recommended some minor work on two teeth. I was so happy to be back to a practice that took time with my cleaning and dental exam. I researched dentists in the Media area after going to a dentist in Swarthmore where my cleanings lasted 15 minutes, tops, and the dentist spent 15 seconds (no exaggeration) doing an examination of my teeth.
