Ok, so I know what you guys are thinking.....why is she bothering to review Greggs, it's so common and nothing special at all. That might be the case for those of you who grew up here and take these stores for granted, however, for those of us who weren't that lucky, this place is awesome!! I first tried Greggs within my first week in Scotland. I was walking through town with Craig when I started to get hungry and wasn't sure what I felt like having. We were pretty close to a Greggs and Craig said "Do you want a sausage roll"......like I was supposed to know what that means! "What's that" I asked......I never got an explanation, all I got was an assurance that it was "delicious". By this point I was starving and would have eaten pretty much anything so I agreed on the sausage roll. All I can say is thank god I did!! I had never tried, or seen, anything like it but I knew I'd be seeing a lot more of them! Since then I've tried a whole bunch of things from Greggs. Pies, cakes, wraps, rolls, sandwiches but I always go back to those sausage rolls, they are definitely the best thing available here. Obviously Greggs isn't something I'd choose to have everyday (it's like a super upgrade of the 711 stores we have in the US) but it does come in really handy for the odd breakfast or lunch when all else fails.
With the sheer numbers of stores all over town too, it's always pretty easy to find one close by. I really love fresh bakeries in Scotland and trying different things from these places and Greggs is definitely one of the better ones. If for some crazy reason you haven't tried anything here before, I'd strongly suggest you do, you won't regret it! I always find it's great value for money in here, the service is always quick, and I've never had a single problem in any Greggs store I've been in. This location is close to the mall & most attractions in the center with fast & friendly staff. Cool during winter but super neglected when the Christmas markets are in town! Just writing this review is tempting me to take a trip to Greggs now :) read more
