My car was in need of an oil change and I had a recent disappointment at a dealership so I was…read moreseeking another outlet beside Jiffy Lube who I promised myself I would never go to again. I noticed that this new store had opened and it hadn't been there very long and so I decided that I would go in and see if I can get an oil change done. First of all of this location was built where a bank used to sit and unless you live in the town, you're not gonna know that it's there. But it's located on the corner of 27th and Iowa and its very visual. Access to the facility is very easy to get to and it is not crowded. First of all they have a sign in the front of their building that says oil change in 15 minutes. I was skeptical when I saw the sign because I've never had an oil change done that fast, but I went ahead and pulled into the line. I was immediately greeted by a blonde female and I was impressed that I was looking at her uniform and I seen all the dirt and oil on it knowing that she's working as a mechanic and making a decent salary then did my heart good to see a woman working there. She greeted me and was very friendly and told me where to park. there were five other cars ahead of me. One negative thing did happen was that they made me change lanes four times. They had me move from Lane one to lane three, then from Lane three to Lane two and then eventually made me move back to Lane one, then they made me back out so that someone in lane two could get in front of me in Lane one. I know that's a lot and and it was extremely frustrating and that's why that was an issue for me. As far as I could see there were six mechanics all working the three lanes not to mention the people who were under your car doing the oil change so they were well staffed and well-equipped. The place was clean. No trash or debris, it was spotless. They all helped each other and worked in teams of two. Most of all they were engaging. they kept talking with me. I had a guy who told me everything that I need to know. He showed me what the level in my car was, showed me the filter, everything I needed to know he informed me of . in the past, I had oil changes done and nothing was never communicated with me, until it's time to pay the bill so I did feel that this place was a step above other places in that respect. Now I do believe the oil change is a little expensive but I don't think it has to do with the company so to speak. I think it's just inflation in general. And they have to stay competitive with other businesses that do the same, so I get it. Overall I would recommend going to this Valvoline and even though they promised they can get it done in 15 minutes I was there probably 35 minutes but even that is better than sitting in a dealership waiting for hours for a simple oil change

This last Monday I needed service before leaving on a trip. I arrived mid morning, and left because all the bays were full, and there were three cars waiting in each lane. I returned mid afternoon to find the same situation. Since I needed the service done that day I got in line. After 30 minutes, they came out and needed to reposition cars, and asked me to change lanes. After which a vehicle with no driver, which was probably from a rental car agency sat in the bay while all the other lanes moved slowly forward. Cars which arrived 15-30 minutes after I arrived, moved in, were serviced, and left. By the time I finally got in, I had waited almost an hour and a half. I was then given an up charge for an extra quart of synthetic oil. This was almost $15. I was so thoroughly disappointed in almost every aspect of my visit. The long wait, the fact I was placed behind a driverless car which was slow walked through the service, and finally what felt like was an exorbitant up charge for my extra quart of oil.

They did the repair very quickly and kept me up to date on status and didn't try to upsarge me a bunch of stuff I didn't need which was a welcome relief. They made sure they had all my information. As you can see in the screenshot they texted me to confirm my appointment. My first clue should have been when the lady behind me was greeted and assisted before me, I realized we were not probably getting the same service but I thought that the man assisting people was rude for not acknowledging me at all, even after we had eye contact. We agreed that my wife and I would not be waiting, and would pick it up in the afternoon. When I got the quote they said a couple of hours. So at around 5:00 I called to see if the service was complete. I was then informed that my vehicle was on the ticket for tomorrow. I completely understand that things come up and life happens, and that my vehicle was not an emergency, or broke down. I was just dumbfounded that they didn't reach out to me in any way! I told the person I spoke to on the phone that I was on my way to retrieve my vehicle. When we got there I went in and spoke with a lady about getting my vehicle. I expressed my disappointment, frustration, and confusion. I did lose my cool and used profanity at the very end of our conversation. I had apologized for my attitude and said may I have my keys please. She agreed with my frustration and then told me my vehicle was being pulled up for me. That's when I freaked out, why in the world would you have to get in my vehicle, adjust settings for YOUR COMFORT, and roll down the windows and move the mirror, just to move the f***ing vehicle literally like a parking space! I just couldn't believe you can't do the service when agreed on, not contact me in any manner saying, Hey we are keeping YOUR vehicle longer, and then act like you are doing me some kind of favor by moving it! Get the f**k out of my vehicle. Needless to say, we did not get anything done to our vehicle at this location, but we did waste time, and effort. Thanks for nothing but frustration! I would a negative number if possible!!

This place was recommended to me by a friend I trusted. I had a wiring issue with my headlight…read more Anyone could pop the connectors apart and see it was fried. No Rocket Science there. Walking out to get the truck, pulling it in, popping the hood, popping the connectors apart to see the problem, putting them back together, and reparking my truck would have been a max of 10min. Russ gave me a few different options, told me he would "order the part", made an appointment for 9am Monday April 29th, and he said it should take about an hour. All is well right? Wrong. I dropped my truck off at 8:55 Monday morning, Russ said they "had the part", and I went across the street to my amazing Chiropractor, got adjusted, and as of 9:37am the Chiro assistant and I look out the window where we both see my truck has yet to be touched. I went back to the shop and told him we'd have to reschedule for an appointment time he could keep because I'm on a tight schedule and can't sit around as I had contractors at my house standing around. Its now 9:43am and he tells me his guy is on his way out to get my truck and they could still have me out by 10am.... I thought to myself... He said this would take about an hour... how is he going to have me out in 17min? I told him to go ahead and fix it. His guy pulls my truck in, Russ goes out to the garage (not knowing me) he's completely unaware of how good my hearing is. I actually hear him laughing to the mechanic on how he told me it would take an hour. At that point I should have gone out, grabbed my keys, and left. 22min later my truck is done and he charges me $165 for parts and labor. Nothing about this sat well with me, but I had to get back to my house. The next morning I popped the hood so I could see what part he put in so I could look up the cost. There was no part. He simply, removed the connectors, spliced the wires together, and charged me $165. I called to say I thought I paid for a part as he said he would order the part and that morning he said he had the part, but there was no part, just spliced wires. I asked why I was charged $165 for 22min of labor???? He switched from "parts" and labor after being confronted there was no new part, to that was the cost of diagnosing the problem (max 10min) and repairing it. He charged me $165 for no parts and 32min total Labor. He completely screwed me over. I've let the individual that recommended him know that he screwed me over and not to recommend him to others. Also, there are more than a few of us still looking for an HONEST mechanic after our mechanic sold his shop in Lawrence a few years ago. This place will rip you off and we've yet to find a good and honest shop. Had he done the job at a fair price, not laughed to his mechanic about telling me it would take an hour, and not screwed me over,... I would have referred my friends still looking for an honest mechanic to his shop, but that's his Karma. He made a choice to screw me over and as a result, lost possible new customers (still looking for a mechanic) after they made their own decision to keep looking for an honest mechanic after hearing my shop "experience."
