I had a section of fence that was dry rotted and ready to come down. After contacting several fence companies, Kent was the only company to come and perform a site assessment and bid. It took me a while before I pulled the trigger as I really wanted to do my due diligence as well as just life getting in the way. I had a metal fence get knocked down due to the early January storms. Kent responded to my call for a fence repair very promptly. He provided a reasonable price to fix the sections that got crushed by a fallen tree. He exercised good judgement on what portions could be fixed with the existing materials or needed to be replaced with new poles and fencing. His work was so good that I decided to have him replace the entire pool fence too. The crew was very polite and professional, and they completed the job quickly. The redwood deck that he built is extremely sturdy and attractive. He also installed a concrete pad for my hot tub and his crew placed the hottub on the pad before building the deck around it and connecting the new deck to my old deck with a cute bridge. Kent showed at the original bid appointment on time. He submitted a proposal to me the same day and also provided some various options which he had discussed with me. I'm one of those that always seeks efficiency, but also durability in thing built. Along with my neighbor behind, we chose the options for our fence with metal posts, redwood fence boards and pressure treated runners and a 10 inch wide kicker board that's also pressure treated at the base. Why the 10 inch kicker board you ask? Well, that's where all the sprinkler water always hits the fence boards which causes early deterioration and early replacement. Day 2, the crew set the metal posts in concrete and let sit a day before erecting the balance. Day 3, the crew erected the balance of the fence, placed the gate with new self closing hinges and hardware. Gate was set to open outward as new code requires for pools. Hinges were covered with matching wood plates as to not have hinges exposed and visible. Excellent finishing touches and detail. I would use Kent again for any of my fence needs and I understand he does decks too! read more

If you want to waste your time you should call Kent. He seemed like a nice guy, but he never provided me with an estimate after coming out to look at the job we wanted done. I sent him several text messages and even tried to call. It's highly unprofessional to not respond to customers. I just wanted some common courtesy, even if that meant him saying he wasn't interested in our job. read more

This guy may have his contracting license we never saw any "builders", just the owner, Kent. He built a fence for us that had to be completely re-done since it was uneven and poorly constructed. We had a couple other contractors take a look at it and they shook their heads and apologized to us since it needed to be completely rebuilt. As the new contractor took it apart, he found that Kent had cut corners and the posts were placed too far apart and not deep enough (per the contract). This was despite us giving Kent a SECOND chance to fix it after we told him exactly what needed to be done. The second time was actually worse than the first since some of the wood was damaged and couldn't be re-used. DO NOT USE THIS SO-CALLED "BUILDER"! Use a contractor with experience if you want your project done correctly. read more

I have to begin by saying Green Tech Builders falls well below my standard of what I would expect from a professional contractor. This includes being on time and finishing the job as promised. The only thing Kent was on time for was to pick up the initial down payment. He would always show up at least 1 hour later than he said he would. The first day of the job, he didn't show up at all. He called me an hour after he was supposed to be there, to tell me his truck needed to go into the shop, so he couldn't make it. Regarding the quality of his work, well that will be revealed in my following review. The contract I entered into stated, a payment shall be payable when the materials are delivered to the site, and that I would receive an invoice. None of this was true. He requested payment for material the day before he was to deliver them and he never provided me with an invoice. I agreed to pay him as requested, but when I asked him if I had to pay for all the excess material, he stated, "I always buy more than needed to avoid going back for more supplies." So, I never saw an itemized invoice. After 3 days of demolition and construction, the fence was finally completed as the sun was going down the third day. The following day I took a closer look at the fence and discovered the reality of his sloppy workmanship. There were several slats that were not secured to the bottom rail. Many of the steel posts were not completely covered, as he promised they would be. The entire fence contains several gaps between the slats that measure 1/8" - 1/4". Some nails had to be pounded in with a hammer, which I did myself and others were driven in so close to the edge that it caused the wood to split or break away. I sent him an email with pictures requesting him to return and fix the defects. He agreed to come back at his earliest convenience, which was 2 weeks later. Did I mention he has no concern for his customer's time? The only thing he was willing to fix was to secure the slats and cover the exposed posts. All in all, the fence looks great from a distance but, in my opinion, I did not get the quality that I expected from so-called professional. read more
