The bar

Green Star Brewing is an organic brewery.  It is located inside of Uncommon Ground in Wrigleyville, a few minutes walk from Wrigley Field.  The inside is small with some tables and a full V shaped bar and there is also a music room which has extra seating.  There is also an extensive outside covered area. Tom was my beertender for this beer tasting experience and he was very knowledgeable.  If you sit at the bar, you may be lucky enough to have him serve you. I will talk mostly about the beer, since Uncommon Ground is the restaurant that Green Star Brewing is housed in.  For food we had the bacon wrapped meatloaf which was uber delicious and the sweet potato fries with goat cheese fondue.  If you get the sweet potato fries, you've got to get the goat cheese fondue.  It is well worth it. The BEER: Spaceship IPA 6.9% ABV... this is a solid clean and crisp IPA... really great Zero Zero UFO West Coast IPA 6.9% ABV... slightly juicy and delicious... also great Mutti's Kolsch 5.2% ABV... this Kolsch was heavier than I'm used to which made me like it that much more.  It did have a slight vinegar aftertaste which makes me think it might have been almost ready to go.  I still liked it. Certifiable APA American Pale Ale  4.6% ABV... tasted like a citrus fruit cup, super drinkable pale ale... STUPENDOUS Uncommon Saison 6.9% ABV... it's a hoppy Saison.  The integrity of the saison is still there... this was really good. Love on the Run Belgian Single 4.6%... this one starts Belgian and ends citrusy and a little soapy... it is very drinkable Fun and  Games Belgian Style Strong Ale 8.5% ABV... Big Belgian flavor and packs a punch.  It's a little boozy  and really delicious.  This beer will keep your warm during the Chicago winters. Staff Apreciation Stout 5.9% ABV...My least favorite, it tasted of perfume. Roger's Edge Harvest Ale 5% ABV... Fruity and delicious and finishes a little dry.  Very good. Kudos to Brandon Stern who is the Brewer here because he is definitely doing something right. If you find yourself in Wrigleyville and you are craving some fantastic craft beer and some equally fantastic food, B line to Green Star Brewing.

We visited Greenstar Brewing for dinner the other night and had a reservation which was helpful. We opted to sit inside since we had been outside all day and just wanted a place to stay cool and relax. They had lots of tables in the front of the restaurant near the bar, but for some reason, we were seated in the back room and we were the only table back there. Not sure if that was on purpose or what? But we did have the back room to ourself which was nice, but kinda strange. Since this was my first visit, I looked over the beer menu and saw a few that looked refreshing and had unique flavors. The descriptions of the beers were fun to read and I knew that no matter which one I chose, I would be happy with the outcome. Our server came over a few moments after we were seated, and provided us some water. We chatted about the options for beer, and I thought about ordering a flight, but opted for the Gabba Gabba pint size since it was the one beer that really had me intrigued. Others at the table ordered different flavors as well so we had a few different styles on the table. When our server came back with the pints for us, we were ready to order. Let me tell you, their chicken sandwich with arugula, avocado and honey mustard on a ciabatta sounded like a sandwich that was made for me so I had to order it with a side of sweet potato fries. I could not wait to eat it! Oh, and I had never tried cheese curds before, so we decided to try those as an appetizer! Once we put our order in we did not see our server much. Our meals were delivered by someone else and my friend noticed that the salmon she ordered for her salad was missing; we waited for our server to come by, but it took about 10 minutes before she was at our table. My friend mentioned the salmon and our server was quick to say she would run back to the kitchen to grab it. Of course, the kitchen staff probably had to prep the salmon, so it took a few additional minutes before it was delivered to the table. My sandwich was great and there were so many fries that I was happy to share with others and we were enjoying the beers so we did have a good time, but the service was a a bit off that night. My friend ate most of her salad without the salmon so she said it was just okay. We each ordered another round of drinks while we finished eating. I asked for a to go box and then we paid the bill and left. It was a good meal with good beer. I think the atmosphere was a little dull since we were in the back all alone at a table, I wish we could have been seated closer to the bar with all the other guests and I still can't understand why we were brought to the back. Maybe next time we can ask to be seated in the main room? Maybe that's what we are supposed to do.

He gave us an education on beer and what to look for, a mini-architectural tour on the walk between bars and lots of stories about the sinful past of Chicago, especially during prohibition. My favorite story was about Gentle Annie Stafford and how she got her man to put a ring on it. ;) We went to four bars, we were provided with several generous shares of beer at each location, each one different and tasty. What I enjoyed about these types of tours, is a local guide takes you to places that locals go to, I wouldn't know to come to these bars otherwise. What makes it even more enjoyable is that you get to meet other people, we had a bachelor party and a few couples on our tour and it was fun meeting new people, sharing a beer and was provided a slice of Chicago style pizza at our last beer stop. Well worth the time and money for both beer enthusiasts and we even had a non-drinker on the tour for a tag-along. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear comfy shoes, in total we walked about an easy 1.5 miles. Ask for Vince, he knows his stuff and ask him about the Bruce Willis Tower ;).

This tour was super informative, and our guide was engaging. We booked this tour online for about $30 and picked a desired time slot. Once we arrived at the field, we entered the gate as directed, scanned our ticket, and went through security. We cut it short and barely caught the start of the tour. It starts off with walking up the stairs and seeing the field. The field was like no other and felt smaller than other stadiums. During this tour, we also went to left field and took a picture with the Ivy, went into the visitors' locker room, and went to the announce box up top with an amazing view. If you are visiting Chicago, I 100% recommend this tour; the facts you learn aren't boring but unique. Some of them quite surprised me, like this was the first field to allow you to take a ball back home or even start the pledge of allegiance for all sports. I wish I remembered the tour guide, but you can tell he is very passionate about the Cubs and loves his job. Like what! Lastly, if you show your ticket to stores and bars nearby, you can get a discount! Enjoy!

We probably had about 30 people on our tour. Our tour guide was great. Very passionate about baseball and this stadium. We learned a lot of facts about the second oldest standing baseball field. We also learned about Chicago businesses that help sustain this field over the decades. My favorite part was probably being next to the ivy. I also like chilling in the visiting guest locker room. While the room was small it was also very cozy and the seats were soft. All in all it was cool seeing the pressbox and also the organ. Yes they still using a real musical organ. I recommend this tour for anyone that loves stadium, sports or history. It was worth every penny and can't wait to catch a baseball game soon.

We drank a few brews, listened to music, and caught lots of fish. More than anything, it's nice to experience good times with good people. You almost don't even care if you catch any fish. Jeff and Jessika are great. Beautiful down to earth folks and we really love going out there with them. Heading out, we played music and watched the Chicago skyscrapers sink into the ground. No cellphone service way out there, so we're just out there enjoying uninterrupted time together. We all draw numbers to determine the rotation and for the second time we went through the rotation twice. Everyone got to haul in fish. I almost didn't want us to write this review right now because we want to book another outing in September and I selfishly want to go out with Jeff and Jessika again. By writing this review now, they may get booked by more people. But I decided to write it now anyway, because they deserve it. Thank you, Captain Jeff and Jessika! Hopefully we'll see you in September. Tight lines! Miguel DT Sr

The captain was amazing--knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel safe and relaxed. He has DECADES of experience and knows the lake Michigan and the Chicago river like the back of his hand. We cruised along stunning views of the Chicago skyline, and we saw the sunset on the way back. It was pure magic and oh so romantic. We rented a yacht for a gender reveal celebration, and what we experienced was traumatizing, unsafe, and felt like a complete setup. The captain, Joe, seemed fine at first he even helped us open our biodegradable powder cannons and posed for pictures. But seconds after the reveal, he started yelling that he needed to "settle everyone down" and demanded I Zelle him $400 on the spot for him to start while claiming the boat was damaged. He blamed his "friend," who then came aboard and aggressively insulted our entire family yelling in front of all our guests and young children. Two children were so traumatized!! This celebration turned into fear and panic. It didn't end there. The captain was drinking alcohol, slurring his words, smoking, and taking unauthorized photos of minors. His behavior was reckless and disturbing. We have video proof of his conduct. When I contacted Chicagoland Yacht Rentals, they did absolutely nothing. No call, no check-in, no apology just silence and a ridiculous claim that I had "spray painted the boat." I'm eight months pregnant, and they want to blame me for something I physically couldn't have done. We're now out thousands, and I've had to file a police report and begin legal proceedings. This company is dangerous, dishonest, and completely unprofessional. The dozens of 5-star reviews seem fake they don't match what we went through. Please do not trust them with your money, your event, or your family's safety.
