Unexpected Beer Run! I was in the area and just stumbled on this Greens location. Number 1, I didn't even know they had a location on Buford highway. I pulled in their ample parking and entered. This place is huge. I wandered back over to the beer section and the selection was massive. There were 2 walls and about 3 - 4 other aisles that I could browse through. It took me a few minutes to make it through everything. They also have single cans and bottles for purchase, so you can sample some new selections without being locked into a 4 or 6 pack. I would definitely recommend this place for all your beverage needs if you are in the area. read more

This location has the steepest slope parking lot I have ever seen. You should put your parking brake on. Making a left out of this location is dangerous because you cannot see around the corner. The staff is decent. They have a large selection of all wine and spirits. It is very well organized. They have specials all the time. I like grabbing their airport bottles so I can try different spirits. They provide a discount if you pay in cash. read more

While on a 3 day holiday weekend trip to Atlanta from Kentucky me and a few of my buddies hit up some of the local liquor stores which is evidently called "package stores" in the Atalanta area. Our search was for a few fifths to consume over our 3 days and My cousin is avid bourbon guy who likes to buy high end bottles so he likes checking out other states since sometimes you will find deals as Bourbon isn't necessarily a life style or hobby in other places like it is in Kentucky. Our hotel was in the buckhead portion of the city and it bring us to Greens first. The store itself was quite large an led well upkept. Pricing was hit and miss and they did have a good selection of everyday dipping bourbons. Not much on the high end scale. Overall it was a pretty cool place and had some good options. I'd say it was one of the nicer "package" stores we visited. read more

We found this liquor store while visiting Atlanta. We needed to pick up a bottle of bourbon for a gift and the first liquor store our gps took us to was closed. We found Green's and the prices seemed very reasonable.am. Since we were getting ready to travel to the mountains for the weekend, we thought we would buy a few provisions for our mountain retreat. Green's has a huge selection of wines, craft beers, and every kind of spirit imaginable. They also had a huge selection of "mini" bottles and some snacks. We picked up a couple of bottles of wine, a couple of boxed wines, 2 bottles of Captain Morgan and the bourbon that was our original intention for stopping in. Although the selection is huge; the displays were very minimal and boring. Lots of boxes stacked all over the store and tall shelves of bottles. They were nicely organized by type of alcohol with easy to read signs so you could quickly find what you are looking for. We were there in the middle of the day on a Thursday, so it wasn't busy. The staff was helpful but we were kind of left to wander on our own. Price and selection are probably the 2 most important factors in choosing a liquor store; so we will probably visit this business again on our next trip to Atlanta/Buckkead. read more

We were looking around for different bottles of bourbon while we were in ATL so we visited many different stores. As soon as we entered the store there were two cops in there working security I guess. There was also a store manager that continued to follow us and stare at us. The cop was staring at me too where I was like Im out of here I dont understand while they keep staring at me. So we just left. I guess this place had some crime or something and they need security but we were not loud or causing a distraction and they were not very good to just follow us around and stare at us. I like this package store because it's usually not as crowded as Tower and honestly about the same distance coming from Piedmont Road area. The only con is they frequently are out of things like Blue curaçao or offerings in certain Tequilas. When you ask a staff member they rudely say no like it's not a problem vs when you visit Tower they tell you No, but will let you know when some should be in. Also, they don't have apple pay or tap to pay. I hate inserting my card lately with all the scamming going on and I don't know why they won't let you if the machines offer that! I will not ever go to this store again. I've only been twice and both times I was treated disrespectfully. Visit #1: an elderly man at the checkout register looked at me as if I were an alien when I told him the case of hard seltzer I was buying was marked with "Save $5." He continued to scan the bar code and told me "I don't know what that is (Save $5)." I repeated what I saw, and he told me I'd have to go find a manager. Instead I went all the way back to the beer section and brought the sign to him. He still didn't know what to do so he called a woman associate to come assist. Neither one of them told me 'thank you' after the purchase. Visit #2: I asked a woman associate where a particular bourbon was located. She pointed to the aisle and said that that brand would be there. I still didn't see it so she continued to point and say "right there," instead of walking me to the aisle. Before I went to look for it, I had a slightly urgent need to visit the restroom (I was not going to have a bowel movement or anything else of that nature- I have a medical condition and I needed to adjust a device). I asked that same lady where the restroom was located and she told me the store did not have one. I told her I had a lightly urgent need, and she said "you'll have to go ask someone else." I continued walking toward the back of the store and three associates were talking amongst themselves and I asked again. "May I use your restroom?" NO. I had kind of a blank stare and then that associate stated "it's not for the public." Wow. A clean and older customer (me) could not use the restroom. So I made my purchase and had to leave. read more

This is an oldie but goodie that I have frequented on or off for the better part of 20+ years. I currently live in Charlotte, but visit Atlanta quite often and stay in the area. There's not much to say about this liquor store other than they have a great selection, good prices and solid service. They are typically in stock on most popular items which is more than I can say for most liquor stores nowadays, and they have a good selection of mixers and cordials to complement the vast selection of spirits. My only complaint, if any, and it is one that they can't really do anything about, is the location and the slope of the parking lot. If you have a truck with a tailgate or a hitch attached, beware. This is a parking lot that if you don't exit correctly, you will jack up the back end of your vehicle. And I suspect more than a couple of patrons have made this mistake, especially with one or two drinks already in their system. Lol. read more

I was looking to find some TSA approved bottles of alcohol that was 3oz or less, and didn't have much luck at grocery or drug stores. Greens thankfully had a whole shelf behind the counter for travel sized bottles ranging from a variety of vodka to rum. In the end, I got 4 bottles: two Whipped Pinnacle which apparently makes Coke taste like a vanilla coke, and it was on sale for 50 cents each; a Jack Honey; and a Cranberry Smirnoff to mix with Sprite. Overall, this store right off Buford Hwy is really clean and has very friendly associates. They have a ton of wine... I feel like more than their beer selection. It is a pretty convenient location with plenty of parking and weekday hours are now extended to 11pm, so this might be my new default if I need to grab some spirits for an event. read more

And seeing as how I pass it at least twice a day, five to six days a week, you would think they would get a lot more of my disposable income (read: drinking money). I went in a few nights ago and you could have knocked me over with a feather, when I saw a certain tequila, that I pay almost $35 for at Towers was $19.99 at Greens. Damn! and I have the nerve to call myself frugal. On our way to dinner at Antico Pizza (it was going to be my cherry-popping visit), a group of my friends and I made a pit stop here. Apparently Antico is BYOB and they were going to take advantage of that policy to the fullest. Mind you, they all had a pre-game warm up session at home and everyone was pretty "happy." Everyone but me, that is. I don't drink, which most of those who know me know about me. Anyway, I was entertained by their shenanigans and followed them around the store like an overzealous puppy. I saw mountains of liquor of all sorts when we entered the automatic sliding doors. We took about 10 minutes as the group split up, each person going directly to his/her favorite giggle juice. Everyone seemed especially enthusiastic about Golden Monkey beer and for a group of 10 people (only 7 drinkers), they grabbed 3 cases of 6 bottles. Then there were 3 bottles of wine. And the whole party who would be there wasn't even present, so more booze was anticipated. Fast service. I saw someone drop a huge box of Coors and there was bubbly liquid oozing from the cardboard walls. Someone from the register told the man carrying it to leave it there and did not give him a hard time. That must have sucked. We all paid and piled into the car. I actually started out rating this place 4 stars and decided to change it to 5 stars after reflecting on my decision a little more. At first I gave it the automatic 3 stars that I give to anyone who serves me alcohol. You can't go wrong getting me drunk, but I digress. I added a star for its location. I really couldn't stop there, especially considering that the location itself deserves a little more credit (I always forget how close it actually is to my house... maybe even more convenient than Tower on Piedmont). Let's just go ahead and get this out of the way, I Love Beer. there i said it, i love it and i'm not ashamed. My love of good beer has made me fat but its a good fat because its beer fat and beer, much like bacon, is always a good thing. Seeing as how i love beer and i work and go to school near two total wine locations i don't make it to green's nearly as often as i'd like but its probably a good thing since i'd be much more broke and much more fat. Green's is amazing. Their selection of beer is unmatched. Other places have wide selections but they tend to have rather common choices in the world of crafts and imports but Green's has the largest selection of truely unusual and rare beers of anywhere around the city. Their staff is knowledgable and friendly and can always recommend something interesting. The location is good and located close to the interstate. I really like this location better than the one on Ponce, it just seems a little more porfessional. If your looking for awesome beers and really cool people there is nowhere else in the ATL that you need to go. read more

Beer lover websites will tell you this is the best beer store in Atlanta. Wine websites will tell you this is one of the best wine stores in Atlanta. I drink a lot of both and I have to agree. Great price and amazing selections. Helpful suggestions in the form of descriptions have been improving. They take wine suggestions pretty seriously and have helpful staff. Also Green's make a point of promoting good value wines, which is great because some people don't realize how many perfectly good wines can be purchased for under $12. They have 90% of the bottle beers found at Brick Store, and many that are NOT. Belgium, domestic, English, German, even Japanese brews. It's incredible and I am so glad I live close to it. I don't go to the liquor side too much. It's pretty impressive nevertheless. One weakness is the sake selection...it's kind of pathetic. Even Whole Foods and Dekalb Farmers' Market have more sake varieties to choose from. And I think there's no shoju whatsoever here. Also, some beverage stores will have a small humidor for cigars, but not here. Still five stars because I love the beer and wine selections and it's 3 minutes from my home. read more

This place is HUGE and amazing. Last time I was there, I found a 2001 wine for less than $10. (It was conveniently placed in the best-deals wine section.) The wine was the best tasting wine for that price that I think I've ever had. Also, the liquor section is monstrous. You'll almost certainly be able to find what you're looking for. The sign at the front reads "no firearms permitted on the premises" but the security guard did not seem to notice. A) I can come here on Sundays now. A-Freaking-Plus. B) Staff is friendly and helpful. Ask questions - they'll answer. C) Holy moly is there a TON of liquor, wine, and beer here. It seems so small from the road, but looks are quite deceiving. They had so many flavors and sizes of vodka, rum, pre-mixed drinks, etc, a massive wine selection of varying prices, and a happily filled beer area. Again I must ask - why did I never come here? Finally went to this location after scoring at virtually every other package store around Atlanta, including the other Green's. Seems strange I've never made the trip here, not like it's far away, although if you're not certain where it is it will sneak up on you, it sits in a blind curve on a hill, hard to spot coming Southbound. Good sized lot, plenty of parking, and at 11am on a rainy day, dead. Went in looking for a specific beer and walked out with two I've never heard of, which is rare for me. Also bought a couple beer glasses, they have a nice variety of them here like the other store. I only browsed the beer section so I can't speak for the rest, but they selection is huge, prices fair, and plenty of stock on stuff that sells out elsewhere. A++. read more

Green's on Buford Highway is my husband's favorite source for wine and beer - he has spent thousands of dollars there during the many years we have lived nearby. However, I am not a drinker. Today I needed two small cardboard boxes to pack up some household items for storage and asked Hubby to get them next time he was in the store - but, being the old curmudgeon that he has become (partly thanks to drinking so much of Green's products) he refused and told me to do it myself so I made the mistake of driving there and selecting two small empty boxes and was roundly chastised by a middle-aged employee standing near the registers - empty boxes are NOT available on the weekends, I learned. While I understand that liquor stores are busier on weekends than weekdays, I cannot understand why so many modern businesses including Green's disregard the value of keeping customer good will. I don't like this store and I don't like liquor and I don't like drunks. If empty cardboard boxes (with their tops torn off) are so precious to Green's, they should be kept in storage rather than piled in the front window. read more

This place has two excellent wine people. Tell them what you are having for dinner and they can usually give you two or three excellent recommendations in every price range. They will also tell you when the $15 bottle is just as good as the $40 bottle. Very knowledgeable and very unpretentious, which is a refreshing change from most people who claim to know about wine. One more fan of Greens. A go to spot for hard to find beer. Examples? Lagunitas has their limited release Lagunitas Sucks! Once a year. Greens has a stack of boxes of it. Another? A plentiful supply of Stillwater artisanal brews. This is a really fine brewer that is in short supply or not available at all elsewhere. One downside - the location invites some interesting and possibly hazardous driving maneuvers. It's around a blind corner on the 45-50 mph Buford Highway. Just be careful getting in and out and enjoy your explorations of a great Atlanta beer resource. read more
