Last month, with our new roof, major changes had to occur with the solar panels which went smoothly. Hopefully, we will not have any problems with the new panels nor with their installation in the future. We expect to continue getting good service in the coming years for a reasonable price.

Oliver, It was…read morereally good speaking with you today. We wanted to take a minute to thank you and your team for our wonderful solar set up. I know you usually only hear from folks when things go wrong, but we haven't had any issues in the 3 years since our installation. I've been really amazed that the system has worked as well as you promised. I actually think it's performed better. We have averaged less than $150 in a year in electricity costs to Duke Energy (outside of the $8.98 monthly customer charge). We really can't say enough about how smoothly and well managed the project was as a whole. We always sing the praises of Solar Direct when folks ask for recommendations. Sincerely, Allison and Roger Schlener

My inverter failed after 2 years, because apparently that's when many of them fail. It has been FOUR MONTHS of excuses why they haven't gotten someone to install it. It's literally like an hour's work for someone trained in this. They are slow to return phone calls or emails as well. Get solar, but get it from someone who believes in service after the sale. These guys ain't it. Update: They have cancelled yet another appointment to replace my inverter because they want to focus on sales installations rather than servicing their existing customers. Think about that before you buy.

Our solar project was 11.48kW system, and they delivered exceptional results. Just two and a half weeks after installation, Duke set up our bi-directional meter, and our system produced an impressive 55.7 kWh on day one. Joe and his team were outstanding--plans were submitted, few days later the installation crew went to work, they were thorough, professional, and the worksite was spotless. What started as a very good relationship with Affordable turned into a very bad situation. For…read moresome reason, of which I'm not aware, they have totally cut me off from any phone calls or emails. I had some earlier discussions with Nicholas Barber (Manager) and he promised to get back to me, after I sent copies of my Duke Energy bills. He never responded and I've been trying to communicate with him via phone calls and emails. I leave messages but never get responses. It seems this company has totally cut off any communications with me. At one point, I called the office number and the call was answered by a nice lady. Just as I was beginning to talk with her, I heard someone holler to her and saying to hang up on me and she did. I'm very concerned about my investment with them because the contract with my solar system is supposed to last for 25 years. I've only had it working for just under 2 years. If they're treating other customers like I'm being treated, how long will they be in business? Of course, if I can't get anyone to help me, that puts me in a real Delma. I've hesitated in giving this review in hopes of a better outcome. However, it's been too long to wait any longer. Initially, I was recommending them. At this point, If asked, I would definitely avoid giving anybody a good recommendation. I'm hoping they will contact me to settle any issues that I'm not aware of. I want to have a good relationship with them and I'm more than willing to change my negative recommendation into a good one.
