A pre-screened option for a loan is received in the mail. The call went fairly well as I provided needs and options. One of the first things I said was that I could not consider debt consolidation. Today, that's all Howard spoke about and furthermore, the FICO was some 50+ points lower than what Experian shows. He was a bit surprised that my credit limits have not been lowered. I should have known something was up when the first person I talked to told me he could get me a 9% APR on an unsecured personal loan when everyone else was coming back with 30%. I ABSOLUTELY should have realized something was fishy when the underwriter who called me back started chatting me up about my hometown and telling me how much he sympathized with my position before getting down to business. Ultimately the underwriter told me he was going to give me a "loan" at 0% -- but I immediately realized that he wasn't offering me a LOAN at all, but a debt reduction plan where they renegotiate with my creditors and act as go-between! Which, honestly, may ultimately be what I need but explicitly was NOT what I asked for! And the terms he offered me were worse than other debt reduction companies I have talked to. And the moment I hesitated, the underwriter swooped in for the kill -- he told me that given his experience in the industry, my only options were to accept HIS terms, RIGHT THEN -- don't think about it, don't take an hour to crunch numbers or talk to anyone else -- or file bankruptcy! He actually TOLD ME he was backing me into a corner! At which point I thanked him for his honesty, and I hung up. The kinds of abusive sales tactics directed at me have no place at a responsible and reliable business. The worst part is that he probably gets other vulnerable people to accept his terms every day, by scaring them even more than they already are. I received a pre-approved letter in the mail and I proceed with calling the lender to find out the details since the offer was very intriguing not to mention the interest rate was really low, 5.49%. Spent almost 30 minutes collective over the phone with the representative, who seems to be very condescending from time to time. As she was explaining the program to me, she kept on saying, "wow, you're over paying, ok? do you understand this?..." 10 minutes into the conversation after taken down all my info, I am still puzzle whether I am approved or not since she kept insisting that she needs to collect more info to send over to the underwriter department. Okay, here I am thinking maybe I am approved but that wasn't the case because the entire time she was misleading me. Long story short, finally, I asked, am I approve or not? Could you at least tell me what amount am I approved for and what's my interest rate? She said, no, you're not approved, but I can help you reduce the debt amount and it would save you a tons of money. I immediately asked if she is offering me a debt consolidation program, which I am completely not interested. She confirmed, no, I am not an attorney and I can't offer you that. I am offering you a hardship program at 0% percentage interest and that you will be debt free in 48 months by paying a reduced amount of your debt. At this point, I informed her, sorry, but I am not interested in this program. She immediately talked over me, she said "well, you need help! I am helping you, if you don't want to, good-luck to you!" She hung up. Haha! Hence, if it is too good to be true, it is. She did mentioned in the beginning that she would do a soft credit pull. If I see a hard inquiry on my report tomorrow or receive an alert, I will definitely report them to the BBB. read more

I have a good credit score and had no intention of doing it. They were very shady and would not answer my question when they told me that it was a duplicate application. I received a letter in the mail from Greenlink Financial suggesting I apply for a loan through their company. I understood the risks associated with an organization like this one, but was in a pretty bad place so I thought I would give it a try. Everything seemed to go very well until I received a call from an underwriter who asked if I was open to a debt consolidation program. I responded with a firm "no" and then within seconds, the gentleman in question hung up on me. I'm not the type of person who takes that kind of behavior lightly, so I immediately called back. During my first attempt at resolution, I was forwarded on to a voicemail that didn't allow me to leave a message. The second call back I was hung up on again, and the third came with excuses and the "I'm sorry, but I cannot help you" line. To date, I have yet to discover why I was not approved for the loan and am still unsure as to why they thought it was OK to "bait and switch" me without providing any info up front concerning the option of utilizing their debt consolidation program. If you receive their offer in the mail, I would highly suggest you tear it up and throw it away! It was a horrible experience and one in which I will be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I was already approved for a personal loan through my bank and my credit is good. They told me I would receive word within 12 hours and that underwriting usually calls within 30 minutes. I spoke with Phillip who was very friendly, but no one every called me. I called Phillip's direct line he gave me maybe 4-5 times - no callback. It's been almost a week. BEWARE!!!! These people are scam artists. Let me tell you my story. I make over 200K annually (not saying that to impress anybody, just because you'll see how bad these people really are). My credit score is 800+. (same as above). I have about 50K scattered between a few personal loans and credit cards. Not a huge amount compared to my income, and as my credit score shows, I am very responsible with my credit. I received an offer in the mail for a consolidation loan as low at 5.99%. I thought it might be a good idea to pay off the other loans and credit cards and wrap that 50K into one, low interest short term loan, and pay it off quickly. I went online and filled in the form. I get a call almost immediately from a nice guy reviewing my info and telling me that a loan underwriter will call me shortly with my options. Great, I think. Then Brandon calls me, reviews my info, and tells me they have a solution. They will pay off all my debt and wrap into one loan. I ask for the details, term length and interest rate. Well, he says, it's not a loan like that. He trys to pressure me into agreeing. It was a debt consolidation scam where they negotiate with your creditors and "settle" your debts. Now for some people, I understand this is their best option. But again, I make a nice income and I have perfect credit. So this jerk actually tries to pressure me into ruining my credit and signing up for his scam loan. These debt consolidation loans RUIN your credit for 7-10 years. BEWARE of these scammers. I mean, like I said, I understand some people need this, but they tried to ruin the credit of a person in a completely different situation. That is HORRIBLE! It gets even better. Now, they have sold my info and my phone won't stop ringing from "loan Consolidators" trying to contact me. OMG, these people are dishonest and have no integrity. DO NOT fall for their SCAM. I am a person who wants to know details of everything and the details were unclear to me. I wanted a few days to look at other options and think about it. I have to say the person i spoke to was nice at the beginning but as soon as i starting asking questions he did not like he got very annoyed and condescending to me. The other day day I received a letter in the mail and It says I was pre-approved for $50k. Since it's a pre-approval I know for a fact that I am not approve yet and have to qualify. I called in and the lady helped me pull up my Reference Eligibility ID and quickly gave me a run down of everything I need to know. What I like about them are the following: 1) FIXED SIMPLE INTEREST RATE LOAN, which means the interest remains the same for the remainder of my term. This is something i was looking for specifically since a bad taste in my mouth was left with a loan I took a couple of years ago. 2) TERMS, they have 1-3 year options if I wanted to pay it off quicker. 3-5 years if more time is needed and 5-7 years which offers the most flexibility and lowest payment. 3) UNSECURED PERSONAL LOAN; unlike other burgeoning companies out there; Greenlink Financial didnt require any form of collateral. 4) RATES: their rates were very competitive at 5.49%. I looked at a couple other lenders to compare and make sure i was getting the best offer and I have to say some of the other offers i received had outrageous interest rates.
