We came upon opening and spent our morning here before it got busy. We enjoyed all of the fall leaves and colors. There's beautiful walking paths and trails both paved and a bit unpaved but we had a stroller and managed fine. There are onsite bathrooms which were fairly clean, a cute gift shop where I bought a magnet and postcard, and a little cafe with refreshments and other items. Since it was the harvest fest they also had a few additional vendors like a bahn mi sandwich truck, crepe truck and some popcorn and other refreshment stands. They had some cute games and crafts for the kids. My son just really enjoyed running around looking at all of the decorations and picking up leaves and sticks off the ground.

There was a tour whilst we were there so I got to overhear the guide describe the meaning behind the totem poles. Majestic indeed. My friends spent a solid amount of time at the gift shop so I took the time to walk around and admire the trees and leaves that had fallen. We drove around the rest of the area and saw some awesome trees and smelled the clean air. I can only imagine how crowded this place is during the summer.

Built in the style of traditional Chinese gardens by architect Joe Wai, the garden has beautiful lattice "leaking" windows, ponds with koi fish and lily pads, weeping willow's, maple trees, and other beautiful flora. Every angle and vista is beautifully framed, like a piece of art. No matter where you walk in the garden, there are no bad views. Lanterns adorn the tops of the walkways (possibly for mid-Autumn festival) and there is an activity room with complimentary Jasmine tea. A peaceful experience well worth going out of your way for. The rooftop garden and open areas are also lovely, especially when you want to sit somewhere quiet for a little while. A beautiful, interesting, and peaceful place in the heart of Vancouver. Whether you love books, architecture, or just finding a quiet place in the city, the Central Library is definitely worth visiting.
