I…read morewas pleasantly surprised with the amount of flowering plants as the weather was still quite cold. The trail map was easy to follow and there were multiple areas to explore. I was fascinated by the medicinal herb area as each plant described the ailments it could treat. There was also a large area for growing produce that is being used to feed needy people in Vancouver. A portion of the trail is paved and there are also trails that are mostly mulch. It takes about 2 hours to cover the whole garden if you go at a leisurely pace. There are restrooms throughout the garden and the staff is very friendly. The parking lot is spacious and the parking rates are inexpensive. I believe it was $1.50 CA per hour. The google maps did route me to the back of the garden (no parking or entrance) so you may have to loop around to get to the front entrance. There is an information booth right in the front and the staff will give you a quick explanation of the layout of the place.

It is…read moredivided into different zones connected by well maintained walkways that wind through the whole garden. We visited there on a cloudy day in an early Saturday afternoon in early May. There were not many visitors so the views were unspoiled and magnificent. We visited specifically the Physic garden full of medicinal plants and the Food garden with edible plants. In the Physic garden, many varieties of herbs and medicinal species were showcased. Each is separately labelled for its uses and origin. As it's early in the season, the Food garden only had some hardy seedlings planted including onion, kale, cabbage, broccoli, rhubarb and Brussell sprouts. The dwarf apple bushes were just showing new leaves. Accordingly the produce harvested from this garden will be donated to charity. Even in early May the azaleas were in full bloom and prints a colorful picture. Tulips were at their last stage but still provide a rainbow of colors. There are hiking trails through the wooded area within the garden . You can easily spent 3-4 hours wondering through the park like setting studying the wide collection of plant species and enjoy the view! There is a parking lot nearby with minimal charge for parking. Entrance fee is very reasonable and discounts are available for seniors and children. Fees are in Canadian dollars so it's an added bonus for US visitors.

You have to cross a busy road to get to the other side of the garden but the crossing area is clearly marked and there are mounted police circulating on the regular to make sure there is no riff raff. As mentioned it was end of season so most of the blooms were gone and hence didn't leave me feeling excited like I do after walking through the gardens that are near my town. This garden is quite large as well. Not overwhelmingly large where as your feet hurt after walking through it, but just quaint enough to relax. I wish there were a few more benches to sit and take it in though. Nonetheless, the roses are still beautiful and viewing is free so you can't beat that. I'll have to go back when the gardens are in full bloom.

The well maintained garden is always changing and is really wonderful. It's a great place for snapping some pictures too. There are so many beautiful plants and trees and two fountains to sit and meditate by. Birds and butterflies fluttering about make it a really pleasant place to drink a coffee or munch your lunch too. Just another north shore gem!

If you come in the day time, you will be able to see a beautiful view of the the water (Burrard Inlet) from there. There are totem poles that can be seen here.

This is suppose to be a tourist attraction place but over time it is no longer is. There are a few…read morebusiness upstairs but the place is so run down that you don't want to go there. The business I am talking about are business that tourist would have no interest to go to like a notary office, accounting office, tutoring classes etc. There is the Sun Yat Garden inside but that is actually separate from the Chinese Cultural Centre. Also because of the area its in, I don't even think its safe to come here especially at night. My friends are here doing the lion dance. They have it during Chinese New year and Canada Day. There is a hall inside but again its so run down that I don't think people really rent it. But I guess people who actually come here are part of the Associations near by. And mostly old aged people (but again even my Grandparents have no interest in this place).

We did however get to watch the lion dance as a result, which is always intense and empowering. As promised, there were plenty of ping pong and mahjong tables set up and being put to good use outside the courtyard. Weather was great and the courtyard was nice and secluded while security kept an eye on who was entering the free event. We would have liked to try the dumplings and mango pudding stands in the courtyard but since we paid $4.50 for parking for 2 hours, were had too much time left to kill before the show started. We ultimately decided to leave to eat at Bao Bei nearby then headed back home to grab lawn chairs and something warmer to wear before coming back. Brought our own chair to the movie because we knew by the time we came back there would not be enough seats based on the turnout. We got great seats and did splurge to try one bag of "Asian Flavoured popcorn" each right as the movie was starting which only cost $3/bag but was worth it... it was (shoyu flavour?) popcorn with a pleasant surprise twist of crispy rice crackers in the mix. Very peaceful experience. Meditation Park movie had us crying and laughing. It doesn't appear to be on the Canadian Netflix (maybe American) so if you can stream this movie somewhere I recommend it.
