A continuation of my previous review with an update:…read more Since the refurbishment, this place seems to have gone downhill and now only caters to one market vegetarian - I now find the choice to be a lot more restrictive, I feel having just a range of vegetarian products would be much more effective than devoting a whole store to it, since the refurb I've also found the service quality to decline and the amount of seating also to suffer, making this place much less impressive, so due to declining service, food quality and amount of seating while still having a slightly premium price-tag, I now sadly feel PRET on Deansgate, or Veggie Pret as it is now known as since the refurb deserves a two-star rating, down from four.

It's expensive for a lunch take away. For my small avocado and chicken sandwich, a smoothie, a yoghurt and a banana it was around £7.50 which I couldn't keep doing every day, but as a one-off it's fine.

The meat pies are to die for one, definitely one of the best around. All their product are reasonably priced and all the foods are very tasty. There are quite a few staff working behind the counter so you don't normally have to wait long to be served. The staff are also very happy and friendly often giving away free pieces of cake with you order. It is a fantastic place to pop in to for your dinner on your lunch hour. Highly recommend.

Only a few moments from work, we have had Friday lunches from Pie Cottage a number of times - we ring in the morning, put the order in (a large order, of about 20-25) and then collect circa 1pm. The food reaches our kitchen hot and fresh, each box marked with the flavour of pie and either mash in the box or in a large container for us to dish out. I've had meat & potato and pork & chorizo, which were both tasty; the pastry is sturdy - you'd easily be able to pick it up if you wanted to eat on the go - and filling well distributed. Mash isn't my favourite but it's a nice texture, and I believe they only serve up meat gravy. Due to the small and indepdent nature of Pie Cottage, we often end up taking everything they have, so I would recommend avoiding if it's our Friday lunch! £3 pie & mash or jacket potato with filling 10-4 Monday to Friday.

But what they were selling was truly good - handmade fresh raspberry mouse (either individual octaganol portions or a whole 'cake', complete with handmade white chocolate quills. They also make chocolates on the premises which looked amazing, and a range of cheesecakes. According to their website, they make a great deal more than that, so I think their main business might be in catering rather than selling straight from the shop. Ok, it's not that cheap. But the quality of the bread and mousse was outstanding and they give a very personal service. Highly recommended.

They make lovely sandwiches but its the cakes that are the real draw. They have so many on offer you won't be able to choose just one. The prices are really really good value, its just opposite Greggs in town and in my mind is far better in terms of quality and is much cheaper with so much more choice.

We bake 6 days a week to amke sure the bread is as fresh as possible. All made using traditional methods and sour dough used in the white bread. We roast our own meat three times a week and chicken daily for the sandwches. We try and keep up to date with trends and do make declicious macroons and whoopie pies now. Go to Parfitt's today and get a good quality sandwiches with actual butter on the teacake.
