Greenfish Catering was amazing to work with. I had plenty of questions about the menu, their pricing, their procedures, etc before my event. They answered all my questions and were very patient. They were able to adjust and customize to suit my needs and were easy to work with. I chose a meat, a seafood, and a vegetarian for my entrees but I'd never worked with them so I was unsure of their quality. I asked if I could do a tasting and they were more than happy to accommodate. They allowed me to pick a couple entrees and some sides to try out and I picked it up and brought it home to test. After all that, they kept in close communication to discuss my needs for things like rentals of chafing dishes, tables, etc. On the day of the event, they arrived 90 mins prior and set everything up. Since it was a "drop off" catering, they had everything sealed with plastic wrap, lit all the sternos, then left it for us to unwrap when ready. We chose the chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, and the eggplant green curry (vegetarian and G/F). I was worried about the salmon since it tends to overcook, but i was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Not overcooked at all and super tasty! We also ordered sushi and other sides. Note that we did not move forward with Greenfish as our caterer but just wanted to provide insight on the process that we went through. We initially sent out an e-mail to inquire availability for our wedding date and sample options and pricing. Greenfish responded about a week later which makes sense to me as I expect that most caterers are busy working to prepare for their current week's events. They asked us general questions regarding date, venue, guest count, buffet style or plated service, rental service, bar service, and budget and also provided a date to come for a food tasting. They were very responsive and were able to answer our questions and concerns. We were unable to make the initial tasting date so we had rescheduled and it was not an issue. We went through a few rounds of calls and menu proposals throughout the process. On the day of the tasting, we were able to sample a few salad options, a few appetizers, and a few of their popular entree items. They are proud of their sushi offering and I can see why but for our audience, we deemed that sushi was not the cuisine that we were looking to serve for our majority Chinese guests. Overall the food was tasty and the team at Greenfish is very responsive and helpful. Mina was the main person of contact and if we were to move forward, we had no doubt that we would be in great hands. As Greenfish was the first caterer that we had tried, they set a great baseline on the standard of quality and a reasonable price point that we were looking for. Greenfish Catering is one of the preferred vendors for the Hakone venue & now I see why. They know how to set-up everything in a pinch to the point we did not have to worry too much about the set-up. When my husband and I attended the menu tasting, it was initially for the buffet-style menu. But upon request from the mother-of-the-bride, we blindly opted for the plated menu with total trust that it would turn out fine based on our tastebuds. Greenfish did not disappoint with the food quality and service. Our guests enjoyed a cocktail hour of passed hors d'oeuvres: caprese skewers, vegetarian Japanese dumplings, Mediterranean chicken kebabs, and beef-stuffed mushrooms. To accompany this, we opted for their sushi bar which provided an array of fresh and flavorful sushi rolls and nigiri. There were overwhelming comments from our guests about the quality of sushi, which echoed the same opinions my husband and I had during the menu tasting. The entire sushi bar was wiped clean by the end of the night (something I personally recommend splurging on)! Our guests were served a 1st course meal of roasted beet arugula salad paired with bread and butter. Their main entrée was a choice among grilled eggplant, filet mignon or steamed sea bass. My husband and I ordered the steak and fish to share, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The sea bass was moist, the meat buttery and flaky on the fork; the filet mignon a medium rare inside while soft, well-seasoned and tender! The servers, of which there were many since it was a plated dinner, were also noted to be very friendly and accommodating. I notice this myself with my interactions with them, but also our guests made it a point to communicate this to us. At one point in the evening, my father expressed that he was cold, and the staff promptly wheeled in an outdoor heater that I had rented to warm him up! During the wedding planning process, the event manager, Jean Martinez, corresponded with me closely by email, phonecall and text. I do notice that GreenFish is especially in demand, and the staff can be bum-rushed. Sometimes I would have to email Jean a second time to prompt her response because I believe she is so busy managing multiple events, and remind her of some key changes in our plans that were previously discussed. This certainly does not detract from the quality of their service, however, as Jean solidified everything with me multiple times before the big day. Because Jean was my greatest contact within the catering company, I have to put her on blast. When touring the venue with her, she gave invaluable recommendations on set-up for a wedding in this space. We went to the rental warehouse together, and she staged the reception guest table with the inventory they had available. Jean was the one who prompted me for all the key rentals down to the style of eating utensils and plates, and even the amount and type of linens needed for the event. I didn't need to think too much, but any ideas I had, Jean would entertain while providing novel insight. Some unique things Jean did for me that I appreciate for our wedding was renting out a half-round sweetheart table, securing the outdoor patio heaters (it was an outdoor event), suggesting the square-shaped modern plates, and supplying high-low cylindrical vases which I used as centerpiece decorations with floating candles. Even though Jean has a lot on her plate, she always brought positivity to our interactions, exuding a maternal warmth that made me feel like I could place my trust in her for this hefty task. I never felt like I had to worry during the entire planning process. Thanks so much, Jean, for all the positive energy you brought to our planning process. You made things easy for us! I highly recommend Greenfish Catering for catering your big event! We used them to cater our wedding reception at the Los Altos History Museum this past October 2021. Background on our wedding: my husband and I got married in a civil ceremony in October 2019. We wanted to have our bigger reception with family and friends in October 2020. Then the pandemic happened and around August 2021 we decided we needed to postpone our bigger celebration to the following year to October 2021. Mina, the catering coordinator, was great in working with us to reschedule our event. No additional fees were required except to account for new 2021 pricing which was fair to us. Greenfish is one of LAHM's approved caterers and they've worked at LAHM many times. She helped coordinate a site visit to the museum to work on our floor plan and set up the rentals with a partner rental company. I trusted Mina's judgment on which items needed to be rented and which things we could use from the museum in order to save some money (we ended up only renting the sweetheart table, cross back chairs for bride and groom, linens, and the plates/silverware. All other furniture came from the museum). Mina was great at suggesting which linens to rent, such as cream linens vs. white because white may be too harsh in photographs. I also trusted her and my event coordinator JL Events, who also worked events at LAHM before, to set up the floor plan and decide where the dinner and cocktail tables should go. She also worked with Chef Eric to customize the menu for us, such as including sushi rolls in our cocktail hour as appetizers and adjusting some dishes to account for allergies and dietary restrictions (we had some vegetarians and a diabetic on our guest list). Before the pandemic, we were lucky enough to already have a tasting set up in February 2020. We asked LAHM's coordinator on any recommendations for a caterer that did Asian fusion food and he enthusiastically recommended Greenfish. At the tasting we loved all the seafood dishes, from the sushi rolls to the baked salmon! As we left we knew we wanted to book Greenfish. After our reception ended, all our guests raved about the food and how much they loved it! Everyone loved the unique dishes and how good everything tasted. Some standout dishes were the sushi rolls, japchae, and Thai basil chicken and tofu. Mina's team thoughtfully packed up all the leftovers for us to take home after the reception (I still have some Thai basil chicken in our freezer to eat!). To start off their food is very good and have no complaints on that end( hence the 2 stars). Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with communication, last minute charges, and missing products. First communication has not been there. We booked a tasting and were still served an allergen that was confirmed well before our meeting. We were given a quote on a generic menu then told we chose those items ( even though they have our allergies on it). We confirmed menus and added products three months before our event ( minus one table cloth - a month and a half before) and $2,000 dollars was added to our bill which we figured was the cost of the change so we paid it. Now less than 48 hours before our event we receive a text that they forgot to add charges for the things we added 3 months ago ( now what was the $2,000 for?). When we asked how much the charges were they didn't even know. They said they would give me the balance within the next two hours... how do you not know the charges but texting me that I owe you money?! Obviously I was upset but Jean called and assured me that since this was neglect on their side they would take care of it. Well the day comes and one of our appetizers is no where to be found and our addition drink station is also missing. This is how they took care of their neglect? * This review is purely based on their service. I was really excited to work with Greenfish Catering for my baby's first birthday celebration as they have been recommended by other moms in the area. I reached out to them through their website 1 month before the event date, and worked with Mina to finalize the menu and pay the deposit. On the day of the event (a weekday), Greenfish Catering was supposed to deliver food by 11:30am for my guests to enjoy. I hadn't heard from them since I made the deposit two weeks prior to confirm the payment (after I emailed them), so I was already getting a little weary that something might have happened. And yep, I was right. No food arrived. Around 11:40am, I called Mina to check on the food - she told me, in a very apologetic manner, that she mixed up our dates and accidentally marked the chef's calendar wrong. No food was received from Greenfish Catering for my baby's first birthday party. On that night, Mina emailed me apologizing again and letting me know that she's never made this type of mistake before. She refunded me back the deposit I made and also gave me a $500 credit that I could use in the future so they ca. "gain my trust back". At the end of the day even though it was stressful and hectic, I scrambled to feed our guests at the birthday party and we all had a good time. I appreciated Mina's gesture and asked her if could use the $500 credit for Thanksgiving. It's been three weeks since my reply to Mina asking whether the credit could be applied on Thanksgiving or not. I had not heard back from her or any other associates from Greenfish Catering, and I even followed up earlier this week. Honestly, I was fine with them emailing me the night of the event after messing up my party to apologize and let me know they gave me a refund. The $500 credit was an added bonus that they did not have to give me, but I was looking forward to taking up on this offer to give them a second chance. The biggest problem I have with them is - why say / offer something if they can't' follow through? This is not how you gain my / other customer's trust back. Between the great service, excellent food, friendly staff, beautiful decor & plating, I honestly don't know where to begin. My company's 10-year anniversary was coming up, and I compared quite a few places throughout the bay that had 4.5-5 star ratings on Yelp. Greenfish not only cost less for what we got (a carving station, sushi station, 2 bartenders, 2 servers and passed hors d'eouvres for 60 guests), but also gave me way more attention than the other catering companies I had contacted. Once we began communicating via email, within days Mina and another employee was at our office to see our general setup so we could plan the party layout, decorations, and what they would need to bring. NO ONE else did that. Every single member of their staff was courteous, friendly, and very good at what they do. The servers were attentive and helpful. They helped me string up lights or stock our fridge with beer 2 hours prior to the party and kept clearing plates throughout the night. The chef, Eric rolled sushi and kept the sushi coming nonstop for hours. He also plated all hors d'oeuvres himself - beautiful work and everyone loved the food. The bartender and I worked together to create a list of cocktails, beers, etc. so I knew ahead of time what to provide. They even arrived with a framed drink menu that was custom made for us - Sazze's Drink Menu with all the drinks I had mentioned serving. It was so awesome! We ended up hanging out with the staff because they're so cool. We even gave them some beers from our very limited stash of Pliny the Elder, which we enjoyed together as they thanked me for working with them and making their jobs easier. I seriously think they made MY job easier. I'm not a full-time party planner...I'm in marketing at a small tech company. I just happened to get stuck with this event-planning role. I had absolutely no idea this amazing establishment even existed. Lucky for me, my office was having an open house event and needed a caterer. My manager did some research and stumbled upon GreenFish through yelp. We honestly couldn't be happier with the whole experience. I didn't deal with the whole planning and menu selecting aspect, my review is solely based on the food and the customer service that was given on the day of our event. Three employees arrived and set up the tables and beverage station. From the moment they walked in, it was all business yet they were very approachable and friendly. SCORE! Food started getting prepared and before we knew it, the tables were filled with edible food art. Set up was very clean, elegant, and dare I say... MOUTHWATERING. check out my photos!! Greenfish totally rocked my wedding on May 23! They did full service catering and managed all the rentals for my wedding at Hakone Gardens in Saratoga. Mina is not just a total sweetheart, she is also a great coordinator. She made sure that our wedding was perfect AND on budget. During the last week before the wedding, she kept in touch with me almost daily just to make sure that all the details were in place. On the day of, the reception area was set up beautifully and the sushi bar looked amazing: Piles of fresh sushi made on-site by Chef Eric who is not just a good chef but a super nice guy. The sushi bar was beautifully decorated with vegetables carved into flowers. The fish was fresh and the sushi itself was fantastic. The vegetarians were happy too because the chef would make vegetarian rolls for them on the spot. We had bacon wrapped scallops and teriyaki chicken skewers for hors d'oeuvres. I only had small bites of each before having to run off to take pictures and I REALLY WANTED MORE!!! Especially the scallops! D: The kalbi, salmon, and vegetable dishes were really good too, but I did not see how the other buffet setting looked though I'm sure it was great. The only reason I didn't get to see it was because Mina made sure that my husband and I got served our own plates once we sat down during the reception. So unlike a lot of brides, I actually had time to eat my own wedding food! The only thing I regret is being too busy and anxious to have a full appetite! In short, all the food was AWESOME, but don't really have to take my word for it, I'll let the following fact speak for itself: We ordered plenty of food for our 110 guests and we were completely cleared out by the end of the night. I needed to throw a birthday party for my second boy who just turned one, and I chose Greenfish catering, which turns out to be one of my best decisions that I ever made recently. I learned about them from one of my friend's party a year ago. Dishes and presentation were great. I thought that factors are already good enough to earn many stars. One culmination of that party was from the Chef Eric's polished integration into the party itself; Close to the end of the party when people started to feel drained, he started a Sushi-making competition for the people in the party. I am sure that was organized with the party host, but it was a stunningly pleasant moment. That experience did not escape me, so I called them for my party this time. To be honest, I don't know how to organize a party. I don't know what dishes I should order, what 'kind' of plates and utensils I should use, etc.. I am simple enough to be just happy with good food and good people. That's all I wanted. To be honest further, I am an economical person and planned a less than a reasonable budget. And that was my one concern before calling them. The manager Mina and Eric were very kind and extremely flexible. They maintained congenial attitudes till the last moment. Mina mainly discussed the presentation, display, and decorations of the site. Chef Eric mainly discussed the choice of dishes. This was what I did. Since I had no idea which sushi names are out there and what is what, I just told them my budget, the number of guests, and I asked their discretion and advice on everything. Then Eric asked me my guest's cultural background and nationality. Then he recommended me a very focused set of high quality sushi dishes instead of spreading varieties of food, taking into considerations my budget and the party size. His strategy was, since many people cannot enjoy high quality sushi sufficiently much in daily life, they would enjoy this particular line of food combination. To reveal the results first, it worked very much. My guests were very satisfied with the quality AND the amount, although I did not order varieties of non-sushi dishes. Mina called me about three times over two weeks before the party, and she carefully explained the presentation and decoration to me, in the level of 'parties to dummies'. She checked out the site in advance (the site was not my place) and she explained me how she will prepare the site. I felt very thankful about it. Though I should be responsible for the decoration as a host, she was voluntarily willing to do it for me. This is my heartfelt recommendation: Tiramisu cake. The last item was the birthday cake. Originally I was going to bring a nice cake available at my favorite local store. Then chef Eric told me he could bring a nice Tiramisu cake. So again I freerode on him. It turned out a great decision too. The cake is slightly cheesy cocoa topped ice-cream like soft and cold cake. Yummy and I loved it. Oh, I did not bring the cake out right after the main food. I let the guests play for a while and then Tiramisu became the last punchline of the day. It is not common to feel thankful to chefs of the restaurants. I had Greenfish cater our holiday lunch today and all I can say is SWOW!!! I called them last minute yesterday and spoke with Josephine who was incredibly friendly. She had my email my order and then provided me with an invoice less than 30 minutes later. Even when I called to add some vegetarian rolls to our order, she was incredibly accommodating. She also let me substitute California rolls for unagi. :) They delivered around 12:50pm for our 1pm party. We had oriental chicken salad, varies sushi rolls, and vegetable tempura. They also include chopsticks, napkins, wasabi & ginger. The presentation was very nice and the delivery guy was very friendly. I tried a little bit of everything and all I can say is, AWESOME! The fish was very fresh and everything tasted wonderful. I loved the spicy tuna rolls in particular. Yum! And the vegetable tempura was light and not too greasy, which I like. Overall, really good experience. I'd give them 4.75 stars and will surely use them again for another event at our company! Oh man, I went to my friends' house party, and they had two sushi chefs and two "taco truck" chefs on hand. GREAT, GREAT party and absolutely delicious food! Lots and Lots of food, from Japanese, American, Korean, to Mexican, to Vietnamese, and Chinese food. My type of party! oh, and Kara cupcakes too! =) I was amazed at the quality of Greenfish Catering sushi! the presentation was beautiful and the food was fresh! I felt like I was at a real restaurant, and not someone's back yard. House parties are always better than restaurant parties! Ah, maybe I can use Greenfish Catering in the future! "SMOOTH" and "ABOVE AND BEYOND" are the perfect ways to describe our experience with Greenfish Catering. Greenfish Catering hosted the completion celebration event for one of our apartments village in San Jose. From inquiring about availability on the event date, to delivering food to our office for tasting, multiple exchange of emails on event details, helped purchase alcohol for the party, equipment rental, and of course the big day (from setup to clean up)... SMOOTH! ABOVE AND BEYOND... two things happened: 1. From the tasting we selected five items, but one of the taster from our office mentioned she likes tuna, Greenfish surprised us by adding the sixth item "Tuna on wonton wraps" to the menu, which was cool because they pay attention to customer's satisfaction. 2. Greenfish Catering doesn't have a license to sell alcohol but can serve alcohol because they have licensed bartenders. They went to shop wine and beer per our list so we can be happy customers, thanks! The party was on Tuesday, from 3PM - 5PM. Approximately 100 people came to the party. Greenfish Catering was there before noon and started to setup to make sure everything is happening per our agreement. Clean up was fast and they did a great job! Greenfish Catering is professional. Price is reasonable. Food is fresh and delicious. Staffs (Mina, Elissa, and Executive Chef Eric) very nice and super easy to work with. We received many positive feedback on the event. Greenfish is one of the preferred vendors at Hakone Gardens that I contacted for our wedding this year. Mina was extremely nice and professional - also very flexible and accommodating to our budget! We had a nice conversation going before I decided to schedule a tasting with them...even though we had to pay a nominal fee, it was totally worth it! The tasting was fabulous - we got to taste every dish on our proposed menu in their actual form/size as if we were eating it at our wedding. I thought all the food items tasted delicious but my fiance has a much more delicate palate to please...ha ha. Even though we decided to go with another catering company in the end, I had a great time dealing with Mina and would definitely recommend them to anyone else who's looking for a budget-friendly catering event! read more

Mina Park and her staff won over all the guests for our daughter's wedding reception. Everyone and I mean everyone absolutely marveled at the awesome food from the myriad scrumptious sushi to the chapchae noodles to the fresh salad, salmon and fillet mignon, etc. The servers were friendly and attentive. Some said it was the best wedding celebration food We were too busy to sample the appetizers but we heard rave reviews also. You won't go wrong with Green Fish! I learned about Greenfish through after reviews and I got one of the best catering experiences one would hope for. Before I ordered they were very patient about making recommendations for our special food restrictions and must have changed the order three times before we got it just right (our guest list kept growing). The quantities recommended were just right by the way and every food item recommended was absolutely delicious as well as fantastically displayed. The catering team arrived exactly on time and was very polite and helpful in making recommendations on how to set up. They even brought linens / tables and saved us a bit of money on party rental. The guests LOVED the food. There was literally nothing left...! Overall, I couldn't be happier. Price was extremely reasonable too. Can't recommend them enough. Greenfish catering provided the sushi appetizers for my wedding reception. Everyone loved the sushi, and it was a great hit! I spoke with several different people at Greenfish Catering, and everyone was very professional. I made several changes to my order from my initial order. Because the order wasn't too large, I decided to have two of my friends pick up the order. Greenfish was very accommodating, and my friends were able to pick up the order without a problem. Greenfish Catering does provide full service for events and wedding. Because my reception was already at a restaurant, I only needed their service for the sushi appetizers. Even though my order was smaller than what they're used to I'm sure, I didn't feel as though my order or my event was any less important to them. We contacted Greenfish Catering with the hopes of scheduling a tasting for our upcoming event. The tasting was pushed out about a month from our inquiry and thankfully we finally got something in the books. However, we were extremely disappointed to hear that the Chef and catering team decided to give us the boot to accommodate another "regular" client. Needless to say, our encounter, although brief, was very poor and we will happily be going with another catering company that is fair and keeps their word. Mina and her team saved the day when Stanford's Carolyn Bertozzi won Nobel in Chemistry. I had to plan a reception in 24 hours and they made it happen. The spread was not only beautiful but everything was delicious. They served the best charcuterie meats and cheeses, fresh fruits and amazing desserts - perfect for our celebration! Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to take any pictures. The day was a blur BUT the most important thing is we made the honoree and the guests very happy. I've never used them before so imagine the stress of not knowing how this important event will turn out but they did GREAT! I'm an event planner and will definitely use them again and again. I absolutely love Greenfish Catering and the wonderful people that work there including Mina and Chief Eric. The delivery folks are super nice as well. I work at a large tech company and have used Greenfish on several occasions for both lunch and dinner catering. Every time the comments from the folks eating the food have been outstanding with everyone going back for seconds. It makes me happy to know I'm doing business with a small, locally owned business in Santa Clara and I completely trust that the menu and food will be superb! This review is only for their customer service as I haven't gotten to try their food. I had chosen Greenfish based on their excellent yelp rating and cost comparison. For about the same or even a little less money than other highly rated, full service caterers, they offered more menu items and a more Asian fare. I had hired them for an employee event at my company. Nicole was patient, thorough, and easy to communicate with throughout the entire planning process. When she couldn't be reached, someone else responded to let me know that she was unavailable instead of leaving me hanging. She met all of my colleagues' dietary restrictions and food preferences and more. Unfortunately, because of an emergency, my company party was canceled on short notice. We chose Greenfish as our caterer for our wedding in June. They are a wonderful team who made our vision come to life. My husband had many requests, which Greenfish incorporated seamlessly (including a live sushi bar, raspberries for the champaign, hard apple cider at the entrance, etc.). Jean and Mina were so responsive and thoughtful throughout the planning process from the food choices to the rentals. Most importantly, their food is both delicious and plated beautifully! Delicious food and excellent service. We used Greenfish catering for our wedding at Hakone Gardens earlier this month and the food was delicious with beautiful presentation. Mina and Chef Eric did a superb job. Greenfish catering also handled the rentals (glasses, linens, napkins, etc) for our wedding as well.
