Matt and 1-800-DUMP-NOW are a class act. I called the business this morning to get a quote for junk…read morepick-up... I spoke with the owner, Matt, and explained that I'd bought a sofa off of Kijiji yesterday, and upon getting it back to my condo and removing the slipcover to put a fresh one on, realized that it was infested with bed bugs. Disgusting and very distressing. I immediately put the sofa on my patio, along with a few small garbage bags of dog bedding and blankets that had been near the sofa, and closed the patio door. First thing this morning, I called these guys. I was upfront with Matt that I had a sofa with bed bugs that I needed hauled away, and is this something he handles. He was super empathetic, and actually apologized that I had to deal with the situation I was in. He said he could help, and even rearranged his schedule for the day so that he'd make it to my place within 90 minutes. HUGE sigh of relief... he also said he'd wrap the sofa in plastic to avoid any possible contamination as he and his team removed it. Matt and his team showed up within the hour, and actually ended up removing the sofa right from my patio, so that they didn't even have to bring it back through my condo. They also took away the bags of dog bedding. It was very fast and painless, and cost me $90, which is more than fair. Right after he left, I realized that I'd accidentally put a childhood blanket that belonged to my mom in the garbage bag with the dog bedding. UGH.. I texted Matt, and he said not to worry, I'll fish the blanket out for you, and have it washed and will keep it for you until you're able to pick it up. Talk about service! I'd highly recommend Matt, and will definitely hire him in future. 5 stars all the way!!

Johnson's Sewing Centre - A variety of sewing machines and sergers to meet every need

    Johnson's Sewing Centre

I recently went to Johnson's sewing center on the south side since I was in the area to look at…read moresome industrial machines and get some pricing. When I got into the store I was told that they do not have industrial machines at that store and I would have to go to the north side store on 124th street and 107th avenue. I wasn't pleased since this is not mentioned on their website but I did go to the north side store. (When I went to their site later it does say that they do not stock machines and have to order them in after having a discussion with you on your requirements. My fault not theirs but one would think their staff would know that.) In any event, I went over to their other store. It took quite a while to find a parking space within reason of the north side store but after three or four trips around the block I finally got one about a block away. I went into the store and there were no machines on the floor. One of the staff came up and asked if they could help me and I asked where the industrial machines were. That's when I was told they don't stock them. I told her that the south side store had sent me and her response was, "I don't know why they would do that" and then added only one of their sales staff could help me. The woman I was talking to looked at another woman who was busy with another customer and told her I was looking for an industrial machine. Without batting an eye the second woman asked what I was looking for and I told her a compound walking foot machine. Without pause she told me $3,700.00 and went back to her customer. I have to admit I thought that was miraculous that she could discern what I could use just by looking at me. You see, industrial compound walking foot machines start as low as $1,500.00 and go up over $10,000.00. She didn't ask what I wanted it for, what make I was looking for, what material I would be working with, none of the questions one would expect. Just "wadaya want, $3700, now go away." So I went away. I went away permanently, never to return. You see, I can get better service elsewhere in the city from Johnson's competitors not to mention online sales. It was patently obvious that Johnsons was, in my mind, a total waste of time. Years ago I myself was in sales. I sold industrial products anywhere from a few dollars to a few million. All of my clients and potential clients were important to me. I had a mentor that once told me, "You can spend months, perhaps even years, to find a client but it only takes seconds to lose one." and he was right. After my experience dealing with their staff I would be reluctant to purchase anything from Johnsons for fear they went out of business. You see, in this day and age you cannot treat clients that poorly and remain in business......

I have to say I have been really impressed when I've gone with her. Once she gave me her old machine and I had an awful experience at the downtown location, I've gone exclusively to this centre.

We got to know them like an extended family and they went above and beyond to help make things easier. I had them do the laundry for pickup as well as alterations. When ownership changed hands the customer service was still as amazing. it's not an easy business to run but they do it with respect and loyalty to those that use their facility. I'm very blessed to know them and that places with integrity still exist. For those who have had experiences that are not positive I'm sorry to hear as it's been almost 20 years I've been going. Nothing and no one is perfect but I know they would want to make it right.

They happen to be in on their day off during one instance when I was there & provided change without any issue (even though I could have used the change machine). I appreciate that they are open until 1am with tons of cameras & police patrol for peace of mind even though I haven't had any issues with any other customers while at this strip mall late at night when staff is not there. The change machine did not accept all the bills I had input to get coins (twice), one washer ate two loonies & not all dryers that I've tried so far are super hot. The place has always been clean when I'm there, has a sink for washing your hands & tons of machine options too. Note: washroom is locked when staff are not onsite. I will continue to utilize their facility.
