My husband and I met Mike in Davis, CA, where we had the privilege of not only getting to know Mike as a friend, but also getting to know his work as a talented photojournalist and burgeoning wedding photographer. When it came time for our wedding, there was no question that we wanted Mike to be our photographer, despite having to fly him out to CA from Montana. We knew that if there was one person we could count on to deliver amazing photos, it was Mike. And we couldn't think of anyone else we'd rather have hanging around us all weekend! We have zero regrets. I appreciated that Mike talked with me before the wedding to get a sense of our vision, and share some of his own ideas. When our plans for a fun photo shoot didn't work out the day of our wedding due to weather, Mike just rolled with it and rescheduled it for later that weekend. He made a point of making sure that he wouldn't add any extra stress to the event. Far from adding stress, Mike's positive energy and supportive attitude made him a blast to work with, for my husband and I as well as our guests. At the end of the weekend, I kept hearing the same words from my friends and family, almost as though someone passed them a political talking point: "Best wedding photographer EVER!" And that was before we saw the photos... Mike's photojournalism background is evident in his approach to wedding photography: rather than doing round after round of boring posed portraits, Mike keeps the focus on candid shots, making people look their best while also looking REAL (though he snaps a nice portrait as well!) While looking through our wedding photos, I feel like I'm reliving the events, seeing true happiness and love in the faces of our friends and family. Working with Mike Greener was a great experience. Obviously, I had never had my own wedding photographer before, but my husband and I had been to plenty of weddings and understood what we did not want in a photographer. I thought Mike Greener did a perfect job shooting our wedding. His approach seemed seamless to me and Mike blended in so well with the guests. We didn't have too many ideas of what we wanted, but Mike always seemed to have a plan and we found him to be super helpful. We knew we wanted someone relaxed that could be sent off into the crowd and really capture what our friends and family are about. When I went through the pictures just few days after the wedding, nothing was missing. Mike was there from the beginning. The traditional photos with family and the wedding party were an enjoyable experience and did not take a lot of time so we could still enjoy the cocktail party. I love the pictures of the wedding party getting ready, kids running all over the place, and he even got some great shots of the dog. Mike got the preparation, the walk down the aisle, the kiss, happy family members smiling after the ceremony, the dancing and speeches. To say that I was pleased with Mike's work is an enormous understatement. My wedding photos from Mike are the most gorgeous photos I've ever had. More importantly, they capture the joy, excitement, beauty, and overwhelming love that I felt on that day. There are so many PERFECT photos that it will be almost impossible to choose which ones to frame. From day one, Mike was communicative and responsive, and always relaxed and cheerful. At the wedding, his presence was one of calm competence. I gave him a list of family portraits to take, and he corralled our family into place with cheer and good humor. He was a pleasure to be around -- one of my guests even commented how nice it was to see the photographer having FUN doing his job. My guests loved Mike, and he made all of us feel so comfortable. And during those times when you want to pretend he's not there, he disappears: During the ceremony, I never once saw him or his partner, and yet the photos they captured during the ceremony are some of my absolute favorites. The bottom line is that Mike's skills are unparalleled -- you will, without doubt, LOVE your photos. Just as important, he is a joy to be around. The photographer may be the person you have the most one-on-one time with during your wedding, besides your spouse-to-be; you want that person to be fun, easy-going, and charming. I recently used Mike Greener with Greener Visuals for a Boudoir session. I had been thinking about doing one for quite some time, and finally decided to go for it. I will never be able to find the words or even begin to explain what this experience did for me. It was meant to be a gift for my husband, but turned out to be so much more. He makes you feel comfortable, beautiful, and sexy in a professional way. He is also so creative and fun with it. He finds your style and some of your best features and finds ways to highlight those. He also helped me see parts of my body that I would have never considered beautiful before. We live in a world where we get caught up in shaming our bodies and finding the imperfections in ourselves. We don't see or even realize that we do it and how harmful it is. We are all beautiful!! This is one way you can open your eyes and allow yourself to see that. It's such an empowering feeling and it is so freeing. I had such an adrenaline rush afterwards and my heart still beats fast looking at my photos. We knew Mike would be great when we hired him and when we got the shots back after the wedding they were even better than the already high expectations than we had. Any photographer can take set shots of the bride and groom and their families. Not many can get the candid shots that Mike gets regularly. The day goes by so fast and there is so much that you don't see, but then we got to see it all through Mike's lense. Amazing action shots on the dance floor. Fantastic shots of everyone's reactions to the speeches. And truely unbelievable shots of everyone watching the homemade fireworks display at the end of the night. He used the light from the fireworks to get pictures that I didn't think were possible in the middle of the night with no other light. One of the best parts is that I'm a strong believer that you should live life and not interrupt it to take pictures. Mike was invisible the entire time he was doing this great work. He went beyond not getting in the way of the party and the natural flow of what was happening. I literally forgot that he was there. In the best way. He has an uncanny ability to capture the action and emotion of every moment with beautiful images. And in addition to giving us wonderful pictures, Mike was great to work with. This included setting up, and promoting, a photo-booth which gave us some of the most hilarious photos and great memories of our friends.
