So, I was just informed that my renter (and friend, Todd) gave this company a One-Star review, and that in the companies response, they said I never contacted them about work that was not done, called my renter a moron and said I asked for the cheapest work possible. My renter has years of contracting work experience and I trust him and his observations. It doesn't matter that Todd is a renter- he was/is living here observing the yard. And Todd isn't a moron- his wood work has been featured in a few different national magazines. In fact, I was here when Todd mentioned to the owner of the company facts on Epson Salt and lawn care, the owner of this company didn't know about.
When I let this company go, and no longer contracted them for my lawn care, I sent a message with pictures of areas where there was supposed to have been edged that day- and the work was not done.
And on three different occasions, my renter called me and said "If you're being billed for edging, its not being done." And those times, I'd come over to the home and see that indeed, edging was not done...
The final time, I let the company owner know I was not happy about this, and I never got a response, other than his business's yard sign being removed from my yard later that day, so obviously, my message was received.
Work that was contracted out in November (which was mostly pre-paid for), was worked on a little in December (I was told no work was going to be done in January due to a trip...that I was OK with...) and it was supposed to be done in February. It didn't get finished until beginning of April... Also, part of what was talked about was raising some paver stones above the level of the pea gravel that this company owner had put in- later, after the stones settled, as the pea gravel was covering the stones. This must have been forgotten about.
The owner of this company and I disagreed about something that was said in November when I contracted him about doing rock in the yard.
I was told that weed barrier was going down and I shouldn't have to worry about weeds for a long time, after that. The ONLY area of concern was where some bamboo had grown wild- we weren't sure if that would snuff out the bamboo growth. Months later, in April/May weeds started popping up in the rock, were the weed barrier was- and when we discussed this, I asked for the yard to be weeded, reminding him of what he said- that the rock area would be good for a long time. I was told the owner would do one weeding for me, but that I needed to purchase and additional weeding package, which would cover the yard. He reluctantly weeded the area, but I decided not to purchase the package, as I was a little ticked off about the disagreement and this new "weeding package"
As far as me asking for the "Cheapest" route, I went with this company because their bids were less for projects than other companies. There were many suggestions that have since failed, such as the wood edging which is disintegrating- that was the suggestion for a cool look (even after I had asked about plastic and it was discouraged because of mower blades or something like that). And as far as a deal in costs- my yard is the size of a postage stamp (no not literally) and takes my renter or myself, less than 10 minutes to mow and edge (front and back).
The only plus I can say, having not contracted them for now a year- This company is good at yard removal and cleaning. The neighbors were complimenting it on how good it looked after the horrific out of control yard was gone and removed. One neighbor mentioned they did like the companies concept of a dry riverbed, but other than that... some of the concept was mine, as far as what I had envisioned for the home.
I wish the owner of this company the best and hope things go better for the future. I do not wish to be contacted, as what is done is done. read more
