I stopped at this farm market recently and was absolutely so excited about this find. I'm glad that…read moreI didn't see any of the negative reviews prior to my visit, because I can now honestly say they are all wrong. To the people complaining about the prices; this is a small business that doesn't have corporate sponsorship or the ability to buy big box store quantities resulting in slightly higher prices, but very much improved quality. To the people complaining about the service; when I was there shopping there were only two people working, which as an adult who works in retail customer service understands, just because it's not busy inside, it doesn't mean the worker's are not busy. I highly recommend Black Horse Farm for great plants, delicious baked goods, and friendly local service. I even want to mention that when it comes to customer service, one of the employees overheard me talking about Strawberry Rhubarb Pie, and when I mentioned they didn't have any, they went to the back and got one for me that was still cooling; that's customer service. So, if you are someone who appreciates the nuance of shopping local, I can not recommend Black Horse Farm enough, but if you're a whiny adult who needs their hand held at all times while shopping, and gets offended with someone quickly answering a question while continuing to do their work (again, small staff but still lots of work to do), perhaps you should go to a corporate big box store. Me, I know where I'm going, and it's to Black Horse Farm!

I haven't visited NY during the October-November months in some time, so I was surprised to see this elaborate setup while driving by. The first thing Nancy said was we got to get a photo there!! So that's what we did. The photo op area is a well-built play area for kids, there is actually a slide and ladder on the backside of the man-made pumpkin, little ones can climb inside and look out through the eyes for a fun photo. There are several other photo op areas, not quite elaborate as this one that adults can join in on as well. Farmer Jon's has a unique selection of pumpkins, gords, seasonal flowers, yard art, clay and concrete sculptures, and more for sale for a reasonable price. If you're in the area I recommend stopping in to see what they have to offer.

After spending thousands of dollars purchasing trees from Jake's Pondside Nursery and having them…read moreplanted through their service, I am extremely disappointed with the lack of follow-through and customer care. The trees came with a one-year warranty. Unfortunately, two of them died within that warranty period in 2025. I contacted the nursery numerous times and spoke with Heather, who manages the business. I was repeatedly assured that the issue would be addressed and taken care of, but no resolution was ever provided. After following up again in 2026, I was surprised to be told that the trees had supposedly been planted by "someone else," despite my understanding that the purchase and planting had been arranged through Jake's Pondside Nursery. I gave the business many opportunities to honor their warranty and resolve the situation, but after repeated calls and promises, nothing was done. Based on my experience, I found their service disappointing, their prices high, and their customer support after the sale unacceptable. I would strongly caution others to get all warranty promises in writing and be careful before making a large purchase here.
