This is our 4th stay with the Doc's Inn and each stay was always amazing. The building is old and creaky but that gives it the charm. If you're looking for square and plum walls, perfect floors and doors this is not your spot. But if you want some old world charm and want to feel that you're living in your grandmother's doll house this is your spot. The furniture and china also match the overall theme. Most rooms still have a window air conditioner but we don't usually use them. On this trip our room has access to the 2nd floor roof deck. Some rooms have a king sized bed and others have smaller ones like full, so be sure to ask when you reserve. The staff are really awesome people. Katelyn and her mom are really so hospitable. It is such a pleasant stay and the conversations are great. Finally, these folks put the "breakfast" in bed and breakfast. So far we had a great rice porridge with a slice of roast beef, a green chimichurri, some sliced fried garlic, smoked tomatoes, and a fried egg. Our second breakfast was some smoked brisket with fried eggs. Then we had a homemade biscuit, bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and my daughter had the yogurt parfait. Also each morning there is always something fresh baked to nibble on. The food is amazing and we are always happy when we are smart enough to reserve early. As my youngest graduates we feel great pride and happiness but also a sense of loss for some of the great places, like docs inn, and the great people of Greencastle we will miss.

Newly renovated building to two full suites. We were traveling as a family, with a 4 yr old and grandparents, and it was everything we needed. The finishings were gorgeous and brand new. The space is huge. Pullout couch was comfortable. Full kitchen, stocked with plates, cups, dish towels, soap, sponges, drying rack meant we didn't have to dine out every meal. For a large group, the two interconnecting suites was great, the kid could wander around, we could have family over to visit in one living room while the kid napped in the other, etc. So happy to have found it.

And never really got to enjoy my post international (You know what) As we were heading to Indianapolis I told my husband that he needed to finally pull over I was scared because I like to my business in public areas and there was no way I was going to a gas station or restaurant fast food place but we found this wonderful holiday in express and sure enough it was perfect it was totally clean and stocked with wonderful things everyone was so nice and there was a private bathroom right around the corner with tissues and flowers and I got to have an intellectual conversation with my thoughts and persevere through my problems with ease. I think the wonderful guy at the front counter who was kind of a burly rugged lumberjack type and I took some pictures just to boot I don't know anything about the rooms but I can say that they have snacks and a pool and it was clean as can be I'm nice and refreshed and that's why this place gets a five star review!

Once again, we were greeted warmly by Chrystal and Nicole. I genuinely felt like I was a priority. Nicole even invited us in to enjoy some breakfast. As we ate, we watched the front desk as they greeted everyone who walked in the door. They handled it well and were apologetic when it wasn't their fault. Bed comfortability is what you would expect, there is a mini fridge in the room as well which nice. They don't seem to enforce the mask rule here with guests which has me concerned for how well the rooms and surfaces are being cleaned. The walls are paper thin, could hear the water very loud and clear when someone decided to take a shower after midnight. I'm used to places having fluffy pillows, not the case here, the pillows are very thin and flat and not comfortable. I recommend using three or just bringing your own.

Our wedding at Clayshire Castle was beautiful, but the experience with Douglas left us very…read moreuncomfortable. We rented the castle for our wedding weekend, including overnight accommodations for our family, and while we appreciated the unique setting, he repeatedly crossed boundaries during our stay. Throughout our wedding night, Douglas frequently entered or attempted to enter our rented spaces uninvited, including coming down to our side of the castle and asking us to turn off lights to save electricity. While I can understand wanting to conserve energy, several guests returned to their rooms after leaving lights on and found them off, which was unsettling and felt like someone had been in the room. We paid a significant amount for the venue, and it's hard to imagine that the cost of electricity would come close to what we paid for the event. The situation made us and our guests feel like our privacy wasn't being fully respected during what should have been a private and personal celebration. During the rehearsal and throughout the weekend, Douglas made several comments that felt unnecessary and intrusive. During the rehearsal, he told my husband and I to "act like you like each other" because he felt we weren't standing close enough at the altar, though there were much more appropriate ways to make that suggestion. He also repeatedly remarked on my hair being down, referencing medieval customs. The frequency of these comments over the rehearsal, wedding night, and breakfast the next morning made the interactions uncomfortable. Our parents and other guests also noticed how he spoke differently to the younger adults in our group, often in a condescending tone. During the reception, Douglas and Josephine helped clear plates as guests finished eating, which we appreciated. However, a few guests witnessed Douglas taking a plate of food and a cookie from our catering as he returned to his side of the castle. We weren't upset about it, but it did feel odd since it hadn't been discussed beforehand. The venue itself is stunning, but couples considering booking should be aware that the owners remain very present and involved throughout the event. Sometimes in ways that make it difficult to fully relax and enjoy your celebration.

I checked in at 3pm. So I was trying to watch TV when at 5pm the maid service decides to vacuum the hallways with very loud vacuum. So had to turn the volume up so could hear what I was watching on TV. Really? You had all day to do this you had to wait till now? And then ( I swear I'm not making this up) I'm in bed trying to sleep and 10pm some moron decides that's the best time to mow the field right out my room with a very loud mowing machine. Are you freaking kidding me? Mowing at that time of night? C'mon man! I really felt like telling the morning desk person (which would have been ok since it was another regular American person) but decided since they probably wouldn't have done anything about it anyway, I'll just Yelp about it. So stars only for the fact this place is run by regular Americans instead of having to put up with those, er, umm, ... from the other side of the world.

The only thing that might have given me pause had I been a lone woman traveling was all the tractor trailers.
