We wanted a quiet place, where we could rest and take a load off. Man! Did we ever find a hidden gem! The owners were super nice, as well as the seasonal folks who took us for a quick cart ride to see the Fallen Rock. This year, we wanted to get away for 10 days over the 4th of July weekend. We didn't think long before we remembered how much we loved this campground! They were so accommodating! We had the same spot of our one=night visit last year. We met many more of the seasonal folks, and their dogs (we brought ours with us this time!) We have already make a reservation to go in the fall next year for the covered bridge festival. In closing, this is the nicest, cleanest park we have stayed at to date. The owners have obviously put their hearts into this place. They feel like family. Oh, and they put on a fireworks shows that rivals the ones in DC!

McCormick's Creek State Park is Indiana's first State park founded in 1916. They have several…read morehiking trails, camping, a State Park Inn, and an outdoor pool for cooling off in the summer. In the warmer months it is an excellent place for creek stomping with a small waterfall at the end. Both kids and adults love this attraction. It is hard to go wrong with any State Park in Indiana.

During our brief visit to the park we were able to pop by the Inn for a bathroom break, drive through some of the park and walk down to the falls. During non-COVID times, I'd love to explore staying at the Inn or a cabin. I'm a sucker for a simple state park inn. The park features trails, a pool, horseback riding and a nature center. It seemed like some of the bathroom stations were closed down (January '21). The park was free during our visit so I can speak for the expense. If you're visiting g here, definitely do yourself the favor of driving 15 minutes down the road to see Cataract Falls state recreation area.

There is a large beach here plus boat rentals. The kids enjoyed the General Store and the Activity Center. Our tent camping site was number four of six in the "B" area. It was located in the back and had two mini trails that led down to the lake's edge. So we had our own mini beach for skipping rocks and wading. Only con is there is no direct route to Fourwinds Marina. You have to backtrack to South Bloomington. It takes about 30 mins. Bathrooms and showers are clean. There is electric in them for hair dryers and razors. We brought bicycles for the kids which really entertained them.

I was intruigued, and so we decided to try camping. Whenever we decide to have adventures like this, it is up to me to find the spot. I chose HIckory Hills based on the cost. There wasn't much in the way of pictures, and I wasn't really sure what to look for. We didn't want to 'rough it' too much. I am sort of prissy, and what if I didn't like it? We ended up renting one of their cabins. The cabin had pretty much every amenity of a house. Shower, bathroom, kitchen, full size fridge. It was really nice. We saw quite a few people coming and going on golf carts. From what I can gather, a lot of people in campers stay there year round. It was really quiet the entire time we were there. No loud music, no parties where we were at. They are on well water and it reeked of sulphur. There is a food truck type of thing that opens on the weekend. We ate breakfast there once, and it was okay. Nothing to write home about. I really enjoyed staying here though.

Lieber state park was a great spot for camping. The online reservation system made it a little…read moredifficult to picture where our campsite was going to be in relation to shade and trees, but the one we ended up getting was just fine! They have a great camp store where we bought our firewood, nice beach, a really great shaded walking trail, and a lovely place to spend a morning- the Cataract falls! There was one incident of a camper next to us getting roudy, loud, and drunk, but the rangers came and talked him down. This made us feel safe. It was reasonably priced. On the drive to cataract falls (about a 20 minute drive) there is a lovely ice cream shop in an old school house- perfect for an afternoon treat after doing some hiking along the river. Bring bug spray, sunscreen, and your swimsuit as there is plenty to do outdoors! Your admission to Lieber state park also gets you into cataract falls for the entire duration of your stay, which is really helpful. There are out toilets but there are also nicer, regular toilets with sinks and showers. They were fairly clean, just a bit more of a walk from our campsite. But it was worth it!

If you're trying to relax and enjoy a full day or weekend away from the city it's a great option.

The campgrounds are excellent, especially Taylor Ridge. But be aware that you need to make reservations ahead of time, especially if you are planning a fall camping trip. Campsites sell out early. Shower rooms are decent, not wonderful. But satisfactory for a campground. Quiet hours are strictly observed, and the park rangers will pay a visit to your campsite if you aren't quiet after 10:00 pm Once we received a visit from a friendly park ranger when we were playing cards around 11 pm. We hadn't realized that we were being noisy at all but the ranger advised us that sound carries throughout the campground. Hiking trails range from easy to moderate. Trail maps are available are the trails are well marked. You will likely see deer and raccoons when hiking the trails. Some members of our group enjoy mountain biking too.

When you're polite to someone, it goes a really long way in customer service…read more We made a mistake and booked a campsite for the wrong day. They do not answer their phones and their policy says you must talk to the office for a cancellation. I called several days with no ability to speak with anyone. We did however book our tubing trip for the correct day. When we arrived we tried kindly explaining to the woman our situation. She was immediately combative and argumentative. She immediately went in defense mode. It was incredibly unprofessional and abrasive. We understand we made a mistake however we didn't deserve to be treated that way. Naturally we firmly and persistently argued back as we were approached in such a manner. Ultimately she did end up refunding us (allegedly - we did not receive it yet. But did get confirmation email we were refunded) but it was after a long awkward argument for really no reason. If the woman at the front office was polite from the get go we would have had a much better experience. The gentlemen who ran the tubing, said his name was Kim. He was very kind and professional. I would give this place another go because of his efforts in trying to make the situation more comfortable.
