Great food, Their pretzels and bratwursts are amazing. They were parked outside of fence line and very busy for good reason!

4.5/5. Tacos were decent, burrito was excellent!…read more The tortillas tasted great and homemade. My favorite taco was the vegetarian panela cheese taco (packed with flavor!), and least favorite was the chicken special taco...bummer since the chicken tacos were more expensive and only sold in sets of two. We loved the carnitas burrito and the flavor of the meat was excellent. Cute little truck tucked away within cute surroundings perfect for sitting back and relaxing (and maybe grabbing a beer!).

Great easy-going and an expensive place to grab street tacos. Went here for lunch with my parents…read morewhile visiting Durango and we stop by Lola's place and while we were there, I was able to get a Beer from what seems like the main building and then I was able to go down and grab some tacos from Cuevas - it was fast, super reasonably priced - The lady at the front was nice and my food was great. It was a wonderful atmosphere gorgeous day. What was interesting is there wasn't a lot of people there and I don't think I got a number or anything and she was just like I'll bring it to you and the English was a little bit broken and I thought I miss heard but she insisted that she would bring it out and coming from major cities typically you have a number or a buzzer or something And I didn't get anything so I had no idea what they said wasn't going to come or not and lo and behold about five minutes later she pops up and it's perfect.... It was really nice to slow down and remember that society functions just fine without 1 million gadgets. and that if people say they got you they got you and Durango is one of those towns where they got you

Holy moly melted matzo balls, these folks are on point…read more I have bartended and served at many weddings spanning the better part of a decade. As an employee of the Harvard Club in Boston (yeah the club is in Boston not Cambridge- weird I know) and Guastavino's in Manhattan, I've learned that 90% or more of what wedding guests are served is commercially prepared frozen food. Backcountry Catering proved to me there's a better way. Last week I got the chance to meet the proprietors of Backcountry Catering, Stef and Jeff, at their commercial kitchen in Norwood and prep for a party of 200 guests. Sure mashing potatoes isn't a glamorous job, but watching these masters at work was a sight to behold. What stood out to me the most was witnessing them painstakingly prep everything from chives to grilling the mains for days on end. While their own wedding is just weeks away they treated this event as if it was their own; putting their own needs on the back burner. When we finally did break for dinner at 9:30 pm, my taste buds were treated to ravioli served with a sage brown butter sauce that was to die for. Each station is held to a higher standard in the kitchen than I have ever witnessed in any commercial kitchen. Germaphobes rejoice, they are as particular as you! Their mobile kitchen is awe-inspiring- including a wood-fired Chicago brick pizza oven, an Ole Hickory CTO smoker, two commercial deep fryers, a 36-inch flat top griddle, a 24-inch charbroiler, a 6 burner stove and oven, and a customizable 50-inch full digital display. As a perpetually hungry person, I've seen a lot of food trucks and mobile kitchens over the years- none of them hold a candle to this bad boy. Chef Jeff has also won the title of Telluride's Top Chef four years in a row. I think it's safe to say you need to look no further than Backcountry catering for your next event.

I have good news my friends as The Nugget which sits just down the street from Purgatory will be pouring all the classic drinks you desire after a day on the mountain. Adorned with ski and snowboard treasures from corner to corner, also sits a food truck pumping out some serious sliders. Sampled the tenderloin, crab cake, and zucchini sliders which were all excellent combined with garlic fries, you thought you'd just won the K-12 downhill with John Cusack.

Well, that was a gem…read more We're staying at Purgatory for the week and saw this place on the way up. We walked from our Airbnb because the reviews sold us. I NEEDED that grilled cheese and soup. One teen, one tween, two adults, and hungry bellies. We order 4 cups of soup (that "crouton" is a half sandwich and LEGIT). Do not sleep on that soup. The soup is equally delicious. I could've had the bowl (with the crouton) and been fine. Also a steal at $5 for a cup and the half sandwich and $8 for the bowl and half sandwich. We also got a kid meal (plain cheeseburger slider and kid sized fries for $8), veggie zucchini slider, filet slider, and regular fries. Somewhere around $50 for stuffed bellies. $7 beer draft and they sell local rootbeer in bottles for kids. Live band was great on this Friday. Seating is a bit sparse but possible. Upstairs was closed for a bachelorette. Would definitely return. This was a highlight. Only negative? Mosquitoes. Bring some spray if you're outside.
