I wish I had an extra star to give Green Scene because my experience with them really broke the charts for my experiences with every other home contractor I've worked with to date. I've been pretty lucky with selecting contractors so far, but inevitably all of the businesses I've selected to do significant work in or around my home have had their minor flubs in some aspect of service, cost, efficiency, quality, professionalism, etc. Not with Green Scene, though. From start to finish, everything about my experience was top notch. First of all, Green Scene was very flexible with scheduling the free estimate appointment and was very prompt in arriving on the agreed upon day. Jake was a consummate professional and not only knows and loves trees but really enjoys helping people and that made for a very pleasant initial appointment. Jake quoted me a very fair price (including honoring a coupon discount without my even digging up the coupon) and described details about the work scope that I didn't even know to ask about, such as which trees could be accessed by truck and which would require climbers, and which tree was dormant prune and was only going to be dormant for a few more weeks (after which time it would put the tree at risk to trim it). He also offered to provide proof of insurance and did so upon request. After getting a comparison quote that was both significantly higher in price and from a company that didn't demonstrate any real knowledge of the trees themselves or describe the planned work scope, I ran straight to Green Scene to book the appointment to have 4 mature trees trimmed, a project that took a crew of 6 guys about 4 hours to complete. The Green Scene crew was Exceptional - they were friendly, organized, diligent, and exhibited great expertise and teamwork. After all the limbs were down, they worked just as hard on the ground cleaning up and processing all the branches as they had up in the trees, even leaving the yard a bit cleaner than it was before they arrived. Most times, when selecting a contractor, you have to sacrifice a little of something, be it price, or quality, or service. Green Scene was the best of all worlds and left me feeling like I got the best value and the best quality and received such great service that it was truly a pleasure to give them their hard earned money at the end of the day. My only regret is that I don't have enough trees to need their services again for a long, long time. I would hire them again in a heart beat. read more

I had Green Scene come out it 2025 to fix a drainage problem that I had. I paid them $3600 to correct the problem and did EVERYTHING they told me to do once they "fixed" the problem. This year, I had the exact same issues. When I called them and Sergio came out again, he quoted me $3475 to do the EXACT same thing in 2025 to fix the issue. UNBELIEVABLE. This company does NOT stand by their work. DO NOT USE THEM FOR DRAINAGE PROBLEMS. read more

I found Green Scene purely through Yelp and i feel so lucky -- Sergio managed the design and build of my new patio and he was detail oriented, thorough, and clear with every step of the process. His team was so respectful and hard working my neighbors commented on how impressed they were with them. They also removed a large tree and made it look easy (which i know it is anything but). I asked them to try to include the pavers from my old patio in the design and they did as much as they could considering they were old, and they stacked all of the remaining pavers so neatly and exactly where i wanted them (there were just so many but that's my problem now) and left the area immaculate when they were done. I would use them again in a heartbeat, they were truly amazing. read more

Had Green Scene do some Landscaping for me back in 2017. Replaced a lot of my old bushes in the front of the house and had them plant some shrubs, roses and other plants. Including a 6' Paperbark Maple along with (3) Paint the Town Red Rose Bushes. My consultant was Sergio who i have to say was very attentive to my questions until the days came along and I determined that my Paperback Maple was never going to grow or have leaves. My Rose Bushes are pitiful and produce a rose or two a year. For several years I have asked Sergio to come look at my tree or review the pics I sent. Sergio's words to me were "Let's wait till after Mother's Day and see how they look. Well, I've waited over three Mothers Day and I still have a dead tree. I no longer have Sergio's phone number, but what I have done was leave many voice mails and emails through their website to contact me. That was over a 10 day period and as of this writing. ZERO Response. I've never posted a bad YELP Review, but I felt it necessary to do one this time. Sorry, Green Scene is a no go for me ever again.... read more

Look out for a truck with a Green Scene logo on it if you value your life. These plow drivers have absolutely no care in the world. Just witnessed one of their drivers block in a whole row of cars including 2 in handicapped spaces, almost run over 3 people, almost back into a car behind the plow and then continue to get into a verbal argument with the driver of the car. Called their office up and the lady said she would contact the driver right away and have him get the snow behind the blocked cars. 30 min later and they just took off without doing so. So now I have to go outside for a half hour and dig my car out with a bad back so I can pick my wife up from work. Save your money unless you want damaged property, a horrible job that you have to redo yourself. read more

These guys are so bad it's a miracle they're still in business. If you're reading this and considering using Green Scene, stop reading right now and find another company. Problems are many. Overpriced, bad quality of work, poor follow up, rude field sales guy, long wait to schedule the work, pretty much everything. I used them once a couple years ago and all the plants they installed in my front bed died immediately. Then this summer I thought to myself "ok I'll give these guys another chance. BIG MISTAKE! Called them Monday, was told by the receptionist I would have a follow up call the next day, here we are on Friday and I have to chase them down again just like the last time I used them. If you're considering using this company save yourself a ton of headaches and find another company! By far the worst customer service I've ever experienced! We had a tree die and the owner tried to blame us, but the guys who installed it broke it before they installed it. They offer a one year warranty on their work, had two other plants not make it through the winter. Took at least 20 phone calls and text messages to get it replaced and the owner put in the wrong plants. The owner is not responding to my messages because he knew what he did was WRONG!! I received a call from Sergio C. who was so kind AND professional on the phone. Made a great first impression. He offered to stop by a take a look at our site this week. He did. I happened to be home to meet him personally. He is down to earth, personable, and has great insight. I could tell instantly he might be the solution / resource I've been looking for. I would NOT recommend this company. After scheduling them to cut down our tree and having J.U.L.I.E. come out, I emailed the VP Jake who had scheduled the appointment the day before to confirm them coming out and get a time we could expect them. After not receiving an email back I called the business line directly the day of and was informed that each individual worker keeps their own tree cutting scheduled (should have known right there this was going to be an issue). When I called Jake he informed me he had "just got back from vacation" (on a Friday?) and that he had meant to call me but it wasn't even 9am yet (I called at 8:52am) and informed me that somehow I didn't get on the scheduled and that his guys where in Naperville for the day-he then had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to rescheduled. This company is clearly not organized and clearly don't care about their potential customers. Either way, understanding that things happen, had I been informed of this "mishap" even the day before we would probably still be using them to cut down our tree, but I can tell you by the conversation I had with the VP of the company that they had no intention of calling me. read more

Good luck trying to get these guys out to do any work. Last week they said they would be out Friday to give an estimate for tree pruning and never showed up. When I called Monday, the receptionist never apologized and just forwarded me to the arborist that acted as if I was bothering him by asking for an estimate. He then said he'd be out that day to do the estimate. He never ended up showing up for that either. I'll be finding a different company that's interested in taking my money. read more

After getting quotes on tree care services a treatment date was set and 3 phone calls and 3 weeks later ( they were a no show with no call stating " Hey we'll be out another day. Nothing ) the Initial work was finally made. The problem again was that the follow-up treatments, same thing. Couldn't get them to honor any stated times or dates. More no shows. Evan after 8-10 calls to the receptionist and her promising her "30 years experience specialist " would contact me, nothing. I'm guessing his 30 years didn't include customer service or using a phone. 25 year homeowner has had enough. Worst business I've experienced. Good luck. I sought this company out from the internet last summer. The salesman came out and we had a great chat. I told him what we were looking for and the workers came out and things were done to our satisfaction..In fact, we were very pleased. They fertilized the lawn. They pulled weeds from planting beds and sprayed. The salesman called me and asked if things were done to my satisfaction and I said, "yes". He told me that if I had any questions or concerns--I should not hesitate to call him. Well, in fact, I did have questions about recurring weeds in planting beds. He never called me back. They never came back for 2nd application to lawn. This year I had my husband call the office and give them info as to what we wanted done. The office called back and said that the salesman wanted more information. My husband then called the salesman's cell--and left a message. He never returned his call. I feel like one of the other reviewers---once they get your check--they forget about you! They must not need the business--and we don't need THEIR services. read more
