A month ago, I met up with a couple of friends that I hadn't seen in over two decades (yikes!) in Chinatown. For years, I remember passing by this parking lot either by car or streetcar, but never parked there.
Well, I finally parked in this Green P parking garage. It's located between Huron Street and Spadina Avenue, a smidge south of Dundas Street West. What's interesting is that you can access this parking garage from either Spadina Avenue or Dundas Street West. I entered from Spadina Avenue, as I was driving northbound from the Gardiner Expressway. After meeting up with my friends, I made a right on Dundas and headed eastbound to make t the scenic route home.
I entered the parking garage and took a ticket from the machine. You take your ticket with you and pay at the machine just before you leave. I took an elevator up and I was fairly close to the restaurant on Dundas Street West where I'd be meeting up with them. It took me maybe a minute to walk over.
It's an extremely convenient place to park if you are visiting either Chinatown or Kensington Market. I typically look for a parking spot on a side street, but I didn't want to risk staying there for a longer period. I knew that we'd be catching up and chatting for a while.
Three hours later (told you!), I headed back to to the garage to pay for parking. I believe that I paid $9 for parking (food coma), which is the maximum rate on a weekday. It was a Wednesday. That rate wasn't bad. The best rate is parking from 6 am to 7 am for $6.
I paid with a credit card. It was a smooth transaction. I took my ticket and receipt, and headed to my car. When you leave, you insert your ticket in the machine and you're free to go.
I felt safe parking here. Parking ramp levels are clearly marked and are colour-coded. Parking spots can be a bit narrow if demand is high and the garage is full. Luckily, it wasn't super busy on a Wednesday afternoon, so I didn't have any cars parked on either side of me.
I had an enjoyable experience parking here. I'd return when I'm back in this area again.
