I've taken 16 classes with Green Ops over the past two years, if my records are correct. They were primarily carbine and pistol classes, across a variety of use cases and skill levels. All of them have been top-notch. I have never had a bad experience. The individual instruction they provide always points me in the right direction, and gives me the information I need to improve. More than that, though, taking their classes has literally been a life-changing experience. My first Green Ops class was their introductory 4-count holster draw class back in April of 2018. I had zero experience drawing from a holster. It was the first pistol class I had ever taken besides a very basic gun safety course a decade prior. I am a boring non-LEO civilian. No military experience. Guns were not a thing in my family. Mike and the Green Ops instructors in that class made learning to shoot fun, and perhaps more importantly, taught me in a safe and extremely competent manner. Their advice and encouragement throughout the class - and beyond it - gave me the confidence to begin practicing at home and trying to improve myself. It enabled me to start moving forward with my shooting hobby, and I started taking more classes many from them, but also from others. Today, I shoot competitively across different disciplines (USPSA, Steel Challenge, multi-gun), and can perform at a much higher level than I ever thought possible. I've made close friendships with fellow students and the instructors. When you take a class with Green Ops, it gives you the chance to enter into a world of proficiency and professionalism that I think many gun owners don't even know exists. If you had told me in January 2018 that I would be confident and competent enough to do what I'm doing today in action shooting, I would not have believed you. Green Ops is, I think, the main reason behind that. If you have the chance to take a Green Ops class, you shouldn't miss it. You will not regret; you'll love it. If this review sounds like a loving paean to them, so be it; they deserve it, and I'm always going to be grateful to them for starting me on the journey I'm on. I would leave 6 stars if I could. I first took a class 1 on 1 with Luke in February of 2024. I was a beginner when I saw him. I understood firearm safety, grip stance trigger to a baseline level. After seeing Luke I was hooked. I took over 75 hours of training classes, probably over 55 with green ops in 2024 and in 2025 now push 150 training hours and over 100 with green ops. I have taken some of the classes twice. All of the instructors truly have a passion for improving their craft, and making sure their students leave with no question unanswered. They are no BS. They also encourage you to train and learn from others. I appreciate, no matter the level of the course, SAFETY is always discussed in depth at the beginning of the class. If you go to their classes you will get better, and they tell you what you need to do to out of class, dry fire routines, etc. I've seen Some of the at the range before and they invite me to do competitions and classes with them as well I ask them questions all the time and they text or email me back. Green ops training is the best you can get in Texas. I've completed the Advanced Covert Carry Skills, Tactical Rifle 1 and Defensive Pistol 1 classes. I also plan on taking their combatives for concealed carry and the defensive Kalashnikov classes this fall. Their courses deliver an abundance of knowledge to the student. They focus heavily on the fundamentals and push you to get better through dry fire. Once you take a class you won't look at firearms training the same. All the instructors know what they are teaching and practice what they preach. They are personable and strive to help all students reach their next level. If you are looking for firearms training do not hesitate to jump into one of their classes. The instructors will help you no matter where you are in your journey. I recently completed a one-on-one Tactical Pistol & Carbine course with Green-Ops instructor Chris Alvarez and it was absolutely amazing. Chris arrived early each day, stayed late and was so thorough and detail oriented every step of the way. Chris pushed and challenged me to do more and more, knowing he could bring the best out of me. We trained for 12 hours, shooting 1000+ rounds and each stage was explained up front and reviewed on the back end. Chris' after-action reports connected the methods he was teaching me to why they mattered and how all the training translates to real-life scenarios. The instructors at Green Ops have decades of tactical & competition experience. They are quick to point out the most efficient ways to handle your firearm for maximum efficiency. I recently attended their Defensive Carbine clinic where I learned an incredible amount in 4.5 hours. I'm looking forward to attending more classes in the future. I've taken two carbine courses with Green Ops and have been really impressed with the operation. Great instructors from a variety of backgrounds ie Mil, LE, competition. The proof of a training school is not necessarily it's physical structure, it's in the quality of the instruction. Green Ops has instructors from the military, law enforcement, and civilian life. As far as firearms proficiency and training go, Green Ops are among the best around. Their training cadre have the most diverse background of any group I have ever trained with, and they genuinely want to build up your skill and confidence.
