But he was also respectful in texting me before he arrived to make sure it was ok. My time is valuable so of course it was ok. We walked the property. He asked questions!! (What a concept!) He asked about my current landscaping so he could accurately place the location of the sprinkler heads. We went inside the house so he could check the plumbing to make sure my water pressure was adequate. My PSI is a little too high and he explained that that could end up breaking the heads or causing water to spurt out. So we're having that part replaced. He made sure that the water lines would go outside like they're suppose to. He also recommended calling MUD to look into replacing the water meter due to it being so old. I've never had a sprinkler system before and never had one installed so I had questions. He answered them and explained the different control boxes and features so I could make a good decision. He went to his truck to write up the quote and gave me a design showing where the heads would go. We went over both options. Both options were cheaper than Millard Sprinkler. (I suggest you go read my review for Millard Sprinkler). We even discussed the time frame for how long it takes to get on their schedule. As an added bonus, I had a brain cramp and left the gate open while we walked the backyard and then went inside. My dogs went outside thru their doggie door and out the open gate. 2 Shiba pups and an older Shiba. After I corralled the older one, Jakob even helped coax Gus into the backyard so I could go get the other 2. It may not seem like much, but it was a huge help. Shibas are stubborn and Gus isn't any different. Jakob holding the gate open and helping to talk Gus thru the gate pretty much ended the decision-making process!! They were almost $2,000 less than Millard Sprinkler anyway when comparing just the sprinkler install but it kept me from wanting to call other companies to get another quote! If you need a comprehensive review of your existing system with a detailed plan of improvement, this isn't your company. They go through technicians regularly and very seldom send the same tech to work on your system, so I was always starting from scratch with a new guy. They now do drainage and I asked them to solve a simple drainage problem. It took four visits and although they did solve the problem, the amount of frustration that I was asked to endure during the process wasn't what i expect from a professional firm. I had an appointment set for 11am. I got a text at 10:50 saying the person was on their way. I missed his call at 11:30! No call/text saying he was running late. My time is valuable. Nobody is paying me to wait. So I texted him back to see if maybe I had the wrong time written down. Nope. He confirmed it was at 11am. He asked if I got his quote in my email. I did, but I'm asking myself then why did I need to be there in the first place if he did a quote without me being there?? And did he go in the backyard to survey the area? If he did I'll be very pissed because my dogs go in and out of the doggie door as they please. So how did he measure my backyard? How did he measure where the heads would go? I looked at the quote. Very bland. No detail. And very expensive compared to what I was expecting. But I've never had a sprinkler system and never had one installed. I had questions, but because he chose to be late and not give me a heads up, I couldn't ask those questions. Quality Irrigation came out the next day. On time! In fact, 15 minutes early!! We walked the ENTIRE yard...both front and back. He asked about my current landscaping so he could be sure the heads were properly located. We talked about the different boxes and features. HE wanted to look at my plumbing and run tests to make sure my PSI was at the proper level!! How many of these things did Millard do? None because he was late and didn't have access. How can a guy give a proper estimate without walking the property, asking questions, and making sure the plumbing is adequate? SMH!! And the icing on the cake? Quality Irrigation's quote came in about $2,000 cheaper just on the sprinkler system, with the better control box. I don't even know what Millard Sprinkler was offering because he chose to be late and not give me a heads up. If somebody wants to minimize him being 30 minutes late for an appointment then I'd ask them if they're ok with their employees showing up 30 minutes late for work every day? He called me when he arrived. Why couldn't he call me to say he was running late? Needless to say, I'm calling Quality Irrigation Monday to move forward. First of all, this company is no longer locally owned. If I could give them a zero, I would…read more We've had them for 5 years and have seen a continuous decline in our yard. Each and every year we have had various people come out and say it's either the heat, just the year, too much rain, not enough rain. We have 6 treatments per year and every year we lose more and more of our grass. They always say, " well.. my yard looks like this too." None of my other neighbors are having these issues and they do not use services. In fact, they just mow and water. That is all. So a week ago, they sent a manager named Ray who stated it's probably rabbits eating your lawn, just the weather.. asked Ray if he could clarify it was a fungus as one if the techs earlier in the year said, he just said I dont know. We can aerate and seed." I said "we do that every year and it keeps getting worse." After that conversation that went nowhere, we called out 2 other companies to come and verify what was going on with our yard. Both said fungus in certain areas and mentioned grub because the grass is dead and has no roots. Other areas are silverish and slimy. We decided to start pulling up some of the areas of grass to prep with top soil for aeration and seed and found a TON of full sized grubs in multiple locations. Supposedly, we've been treated for these for almost 5 years! Highly doubtful! So after a ton of research and conversations with other companies, we called Heartland back and asked for a higher manager to come out. They sent Kevin, their Quality Control manager. Kevin came today at 9:30. I cannot say enough bad things about Kevin. My oldest daughter was here and witnessed his treatment of me as well. He came up the driveway with an attitude and condescending demeanor from the moment he stepped on my property basically asking why he was here... I walked him through the scenarios above and stated that I wanted clarification as to what was going on with our lawn, explained how long it has been going downhill and everything that has been said and tried. I didnt tell him that I used AI and also had two other companies out to verify. Kevin proceeded to blame me and my husband for mowing wrong (absolutely not the case), stated we must be watering wrong (also not the case).. we followed their recs on all to a "t." The jerk then asked if he could see our lawn mower (just had a tune up and new blades) and he said "ahh well there's the problem.. you have an old mower." Also, not the case. Four years old and well taken care of. Then came the same old line they all use "it's just the year, mine looks like that too." Every single Heartland rep uses and used this line. I then told him what I knew. I said its needs Dylox to kill the active grubs. It needs to be treated for fungus and needs aeration and seeding. He got mad. He then stated "yes, its a fungus and can't say anything about grubs unless he looked." I had already told him we dug up tons making room for new sod. I asked why nobody ever recommended fungicide as that is a service option and stated, well that's a $500 program." I stated, "so? We would have payed that to save our lawn had we known!!" Then he said, "I don't recommend that program, fungicide doesn't work anyway." Then I was mad and said, "so you are basically scamming people then." He said I can do Dylox for the grubs you say you have (after I brought up Dylox) and give you some seed and do another weed treatment. What more would you like me to do?" After blatantly blaming our mower and water and rabbits and weather, I just asked him to leave, I wanted nothing further from them. My daughter was so upset with how I was being treated and I was shaking mad. I've never been talked down to or condescended so aggressively in my life. Maybe because I am female and had done my research. I called back the office to complain and they backed him as one of their best. If that was their best, that company is disgusting and has some of the poorest customer service skills in the Metro. I would also venture to say we have been scammed. Take that for what it is worth.
