We had lunch in the village and then got back in our cars and followed the GPS to a spot where there were no people. Come to find out we were just steps away while eating lunch, so we quickly doubled back. It's on the mountain not offsite. We were staying in Killington and there is an ATV tour company there, but there was no availability. We called Stratton Adventures and they were able to squeeze us in on the 2:00 summit tour and I was so glad they did! I think we got the better tour because you go to the top of the actual mountain, and see it all, the ski lifts, mountain bikers, hikers, etc. It just seems more interesting than a course in Killington that's not on the ski slope. We had two guides, one in front and one bringing up the rear. They got us fitted for helmets, explained the equipment, and off we went. It was definitely family friendly but you also had some spots where you could really open up if you wanted to. My husband drove the whole time and we had a blast. As long as you are both licensed drivers you can switch drivers if you want to. The guides showed us some bear prints at the summit and had a lot of great stories. It was a good mix of riding and photo opportunities. We got lucky, it was a beautiful day to be on the mountain. I highly recommend Stratton Adventures. Even if you're staying in the Killington area as we were, it was worth the drive. Fun experience! I'd love to go back in the winter and try the snowmobile tour.

Red-winged blackbirds zip around looking for picnic crumbs, there's lots of shade, and the lake is shallow enough around the edge for my two young grandchildren to play. We had my grandson's 6th birthday party here and used one of the charcoal grills to make hot dogs. Be prepared to bring a table and chairs because all of the picnic tables have been removed due to COVID. The lake closes at sunset. Go!

It is VERY much off the beaten path and once you turn on Somerset Rd., it's a good 3 or 4 mile drive to get to the general parking, picnic area near the water. Oh yeah, the road isn't paved either so it's best to have a 4x4 or some sort of vehicle with tires that can handle the trek. The general parking area is a decent size, there are a few picnic tables and a port-a-potty which was surprisingly clean. The reservoir itself is huge and great for kayaking or canoeing, neither of which we did, but I did see quite a few people there enjoying themselves on the water. There is one general walking direction which takes you to several different hiking paths and there is even a cute little bridge overlooking a beautiful stream. It had rained that morning and with leaves falling, the trails were a little slippery at points, but nothing that made me feel unsafe. I'd definitely recommend wearing sneakers or hiking boots of some kind. Between the group of us, we had 3 dogs and none of them were on a leash; people really didn't seem to care and everyone was friendly. The dogs enjoyed swimming in the water and I enjoyed looking at it. I'd most definitely go back to Somerset Reservoir with a camera and a light lunch to kick back and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

A half a day fishing and a half a day exploring and set up a click below the fly fisherman under the tressel and watched him pull one in after the next. So I stopped fishing and found the water that feeds the creeks which comes off the mountains and I heard the Catskill average between 50 and 60 inches a year of rainfall. I dropped that early rain data number here so I can feel, just for a moment that I'm kinda smart and stuff. Actually, the fine folks at Greene County visitors center dropped that on me earlier in the year. So as I'm walking the shoots sipping on an Ascension pilsner (Catskill Brewery) pup-a-lup in tow, I'm watching the trees sway too and fro as the wind was blowing with voracious gusts. I set my fishing gear again and reread the water, watching those little fast eddys where the Brook Trout like to wait behind a rock, the easiest place to snag food, but no nibbles - not the Shad, Striped Bass, Walleye nor the Herring - all indigenous fishies. But the trees are watching me and I can tell they feel my love of all natural things, it exudes from every pore and I smile at the happy Hemlock with respect to say "I'm in your world and I'll leave it better than I found it". The Beech and Birch liked this answer and whispered to the Maple that humanoid embraces the Creeks code of honor and respect - not so sure about that big thing on four legs accompanying him tho. I did receive what I came for which is to say that the coolness to ease my mind, my body and my soul rolled over me and took me away and it won't be long till we meet again.

Round Lake is a small lake in Saratoga County, New York that is located east of the village of Round Lake. It is a "kettle lake", formed at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation by a large block of ice left behind as the glacier melted. Most of the ownership around the 91-acre lake is private. This access provides the only public access on the lake. I have seen activities like fishing, rowing, boating, ice fishing, biking, racing to name a few.
