We had an amazing day on the Battenkill, starting and ending it with the staff at BVO always makes it a 10/10! If you're unfamiliar with the river, they will tell you tips and tricks to make it feel easy. Pick up and drop off are easy, and there's always a popsicle waiting for you when you get back! Will always send people to BVO before anyone else if you're looking for a day on the river! read more

We had a fantastic day tube floating the Battinkill from the covered bridge in Arlington Vermont all the way down to the Tacklebox Bridge in New York. It was a hot and sunny June day and the trip took us 3 hours. Lisa, Don and Peyton couldn't have been kinder or more hospitable! We had a blast! read more

Great experience and service. Awesome day out on sturdy safe equipment. Wonderful staff! And treat at the end :)

Friendly, well-informed crew made sure we were safe and comfortable. We had a great time on the river and would happily repeat when we're next in this part of the world. read more

They are very flexible about drop-off and pick up points/time giving you the ability to not have to worry about time, which is not something you want to worry about when relaxing on this beautiful river! read more

The owners and staff were amazing - so hospitable, knowledgeable, and totally relaxed. We took their recommendation to check out The Depot in nearby Cambridge after our float and am so glad we did! Will definitely be back! read more

We had such a wonderful kayaking trip down the river. The team at BVO was so helpful and informative, and they gave us so much flexibility to explore the river at our own pace with different options to extend or shorten our trip depending on how the day went. They also had great equipment. Would definitely do another trip again with BVO down this beautiful river. Thank you! read more

There was not enough water to cover the rocks so we got hung up multiple times. The raft was difficult to maneuver. We indicated that we wanted a 1 to 2 hr. river experience, and it took 4 hours without stopping along the way to swim. read more

a GREAT time at a GREAT place on a GREAT river. Thank you Lisa, Payton, and Chase. All very kind and helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a fun day on the river. Best to go when the river is a little higher - scraped bottom of kayak on rocks many times. read more

My husband and I had a beautiful morning in a shared kayak along the river. The entire staff was so lovely and thorough. We had never been out on the Battenkill like that before, and all our concerns were alleviated by their knowledge and preparation beforehand. Can't wait to return and try another vessel! read more

Great day on the river with my son. Awsome family time. We chose to kayak today. We took the river from Vermont to New York.

A highlight of my summer is getting out on the Battenkill. Don and Lisa guarantee a relaxing experience. I look forward to the water, and seeing them, every time we go. I cannot say enough about their kindness or the beauty of the river. read more

Great people, smooth process Beautiful place. and they have a sweet dog. Hope to come back in the future.

Everything was amazing, their services were great, and their equipment were safe to use .

exceeded expectations! the river was beautiful, and BVO team is very friendly. loved that they shuttled us back to our cars.

We were able to make a last-minute reservation for tubing and I'm so glad that worked!! This was our first time tubing and I don't think we could have had a better time. We lucked out and it was a beautiful day but most importantly, the people at Battenkill Valley Outdoors are so super friendly and welcoming, it made for the perfect day. Kind, accommodating, professional and organized...I highly recommend them for any outdoor adventure in/around the Battenkill! read more

We went there last week with four other couple to go river tubing. 5 hours were a blast. Slowly moving with some rapids or faster moving water. Great sturdy tubes, customer service was amazing. Loved it so much going back in two weeks read more

Great service. Had young kids with us and everyone loved it. They were very helpful and even handed out popsicles when we were done. Highly recommend! My wife and I did a raft with 3 daughters (3,7,9) and worked well. read more

We had an amazing experience using this outfitter! Everyone was so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I was impressed with the options available- canoes, kayaks and tubes. Better quality equipment than other outfitters we've used. They closely monitor water levels in the river and emphasize safety which is really important when you have little ones or elders. My 91 year old Mom-Mom loved it! BVO has a store with a great selection of shirts, hats, and other items so you can remember your day on the Battenkill. They even have locally made flys for fly fishing - super cool. read more

My friend and I rented a tandem kayak from this company this morning. I found them while searching online for kayak rentals. What a great experience we had. From the moment we were greeted by Lisa and the four legged crew, through the time Bill and Todd pulled the kayak out of the water at the end of our paddle, we were delighted with how friendly everyone was, how quickly the process went and the efficiency of getting us onto the beautiful Battenkill. Lisa explained the river and how it was currently running and our options for getting off the river. Having never paddled the Battenkill, her descriptions of the various take out points were right on and helpful. Once we finished our paddle and called them, Bill and Todd were there in a jiffy to pick us up. The river itself is beautiful and peaceful, we only encountered a few tubists and a fly fisherman near the end of our journey. Departing early allowed us to have the whole river to ourselves. I highly recommend BVO for professionally providing you with a great adventure! read more

The staff are super helpful and cheerful. Highly organized business. There was no wait time to get to our destination. We kayaked the Vermont part of the river into NYS. We kayaked under several covered bridges. The River is clean and a hidden jem. They provide a great efficient service. Can't wait to get back out on the river. read more

BVO is my favorite place to go to rent out tubes to float on the Battenkill. Their tubes are cheaper then most other places and they are so friendly and accommodating. We have been going to BVO for the past 4 years (a group of 5 to 8) to rent tubes. The tubes are $25, which includes a dry bag, life jacket and cell phone dry case as well as shuttling to and from. They also offer just the shuttle service if you have your own stuff. Just today we had planned a tubing trip but the weather wasn't looking very good. Don (the owner) contacted me and let me know he couldn't take us out on the river because of the severe thunderstorm warnings. Our group decided to take a chance and do our own thing on the water. We were unfamiliar with the area and Don showed us how to get to the drop off and pick up sites, but also where to go if we just wanted to swim in the water and hang out. He was very helpful and even though as a business he couldn't take us out on the water, he helped us figure out an alternative. Out of the two tube rental places in Cambridge, BVO is by far the best place to go. They rent Kayaks, rafts, tubes, and canoes, and also do guide runs. The prices are reasonable, and they always want to make sure you have a wonderful experience. read more

I had a terrible experience with them on July 4th. We checked in with them before leaving on our tubing trip. The woman we spoke to WOULD NOT set a estimated pick up time as they "can't know how long each group will take for their trip." I have been tubing this river for 30 years. If you know the river you can estimate tubing time to set up pick up. Communication was beyond terrible The truck they picked us up in was disgusting. Smelled like dog, covered in dog hair, one door doesn't open. According to the response I got to my negative comment on their Facebook page I should note that we got door to door service... I don't know why I should have to note this a shuttle service is the an advertised service. In the end we were charged half price but I think that's only because I was pretty clear that I wasn't happy. Honestly I think the lady intended to charge us full price (also not what we were quoted on the phone). Stay away unless you have a backup plan!!! read more
