We had an amazing experience using this outfitter! Everyone was so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I was impressed with the options available- canoes, kayaks and tubes. Better quality equipment than other outfitters we've used. They closely monitor water levels in the river and emphasize safety which is really important when you have little ones or elders. My 91 year old Mom-Mom loved it! BVO has a store with a great selection of shirts, hats, and other items so you can remember your day on the Battenkill. They even have locally made flys for fly fishing - super cool. read more

My friend and I rented a tandem kayak from this company this morning. I found them while searching online for kayak rentals. What a great experience we had. From the moment we were greeted by Lisa and the four legged crew, through the time Bill and Todd pulled the kayak out of the water at the end of our paddle, we were delighted with how friendly everyone was, how quickly the process went and the efficiency of getting us onto the beautiful Battenkill. Lisa explained the river and how it was currently running and our options for getting off the river. Having never paddled the Battenkill, her descriptions of the various take out points were right on and helpful. Once we finished our paddle and called them, Bill and Todd were there in a jiffy to pick us up. The river itself is beautiful and peaceful, we only encountered a few tubists and a fly fisherman near the end of our journey. Departing early allowed us to have the whole river to ourselves. I highly recommend BVO for professionally providing you with a great adventure! read more

BVO is my favorite place to go to rent out tubes to float on the Battenkill. Their tubes are cheaper then most other places and they are so friendly and accommodating. We have been going to BVO for the past 4 years (a group of 5 to 8) to rent tubes. The tubes are $25, which includes a dry bag, life jacket and cell phone dry case as well as shuttling to and from. They also offer just the shuttle service if you have your own stuff. Just today we had planned a tubing trip but the weather wasn't looking very good. Don (the owner) contacted me and let me know he couldn't take us out on the river because of the severe thunderstorm warnings. Our group decided to take a chance and do our own thing on the water. We were unfamiliar with the area and Don showed us how to get to the drop off and pick up sites, but also where to go if we just wanted to swim in the water and hang out. He was very helpful and even though as a business he couldn't take us out on the water, he helped us figure out an alternative. Out of the two tube rental places in Cambridge, BVO is by far the best place to go. They rent Kayaks, rafts, tubes, and canoes, and also do guide runs. The prices are reasonable, and they always want to make sure you have a wonderful experience. read more

I had a terrible experience with them on July 4th. We checked in with them before leaving on our tubing trip. The woman we spoke to WOULD NOT set a estimated pick up time as they "can't know how long each group will take for their trip." I have been tubing this river for 30 years. If you know the river you can estimate tubing time to set up pick up. Communication was beyond terrible The truck they picked us up in was disgusting. Smelled like dog, covered in dog hair, one door doesn't open. According to the response I got to my negative comment on their Facebook page I should note that we got door to door service... I don't know why I should have to note this a shuttle service is the an advertised service. In the end we were charged half price but I think that's only because I was pretty clear that I wasn't happy. Honestly I think the lady intended to charge us full price (also not what we were quoted on the phone). Stay away unless you have a backup plan!!! read more
