I recently visited Greenmount Lakes Apartments with my son who is looking for a new apartment to rent. I was thoroughly impressed with the grounds and the apartments themselves, but what really stood out to me was the office they were amazing. They were very welcoming and they explained all the different floorplans and options available. As this is my son's first apartment, I was very nervous however, knowing that there is staff like Green Mountain Lakes Apartments it puts all my worries to ease. The location is great! It is close to the highway and a ton of great restaurants. The lake walkway is so peaceful. The team is wonderful!

RUN! Proceed with caution when signing the lease. I paid $7K+ to break the lease because I was faced with a special circumstance when relocating out-of-state to take care of elderly parents and serve the Navy in a civilian capacity. Green Mount management is ruthless and didn't make an exception for my situation. Unless you are military, it's impossible to break your lease without paying ~$10K. If you need to break a lease without military service, you must pay the termination fee (2X rent), a concession fee, and rent for 2 months (plus utility bills for 2 months, yikes!). Rents increase every time you renew your lease. During moveout time, Green Mount Lakes charges for minor details, such as dust on the ceiling fan. Although I was a resident for 5 years and was already paying over $6K, they charged me for minor wear and tear. I suggest finding other apartments that are more cost effective such as Hartman Lakes or buying a home. Renting with Green Mount Lakes is like throwing your money for something that can never be yours. read more

I truly loved my apartment (2 bed/2 bath) when we first moved in around July 2023. Beautiful, clean apartment. The management had been established there for years and they were great and super responsive and always positive. Any issues we had were taken care of ASAP. It was very family-oriented. We had already planned on moving out after our 12 mo. lease was over. It got kind of weird during the last few months when new management took over and got rid of all previous staff (in office and grounds people). They weren't as attentive and seemed unprofessional. $2,160 for a run down (2) bedroom apartment. Here is where it all went bad... I went in to opt out of my garage rental which is separate from my lease. I was told by the newest manager Nicole (they continually swap managers out every 90 days) that separate agreements don't exist and that there is nothing she can or will do for me. I brought her a copy of the DocuSign agreement and she said she would check it's validity. I also pointed out that the agreement says $100 for the garage but they charge me $150 each month. I've emailed her every day since with no response and stopped by the office again. She told me that she was too busy to get me any paperwork that confirms my opt out. Today they retaliated by penalizing me with a $250 dog poop penalty. I pick up every dog poop that my lil buddy makes. Quite honestly I feel like I'm one of the only people here that picks up every poop because this place has more poop than it has grass. I feel lied to in the fact that they don't want to stand behind the written agreements they make and then when you call them out they attempt to penalize you. I would not live here or any other Timberland Partners property. When they want profit margins to go up they will simply assign an additional fee to your rent which you are stuck paying or force eviction. read more

Husband and I lived here for a full 12 months. Would've recommended these apartments until our final few weeks. During the winter, we had to fight the mold growth on the windows because they are so low grade, there would be water on the window sill 24/7. We were never scheduled a walk-through at the end of our lease. We had a pet and put down the pet deposit, along with the usual security deposit, only received $300 back with no word on why which we have felt was a low ball. We are currently PCSing and have no time to fight back and forth with them. We just didn't feel like the office people really cared what happened, they just wanted us out. No thank you when we returned the keys. Apartments were nice for the price in comparison to others in the area. Pool area was clean the few times I went there. The package area was super handy and we never had problems with anything going missing. Maintenance was always on top of their game. Our biggest issue came at the end and maybe it was a personal problem with just us and that's not how they usual treat others. read more

My family has been a resident for about 3 years now and I absolutely love living here! The whole staff, Andrea, Tracy, Jenn and the other maintenance personnel (I'm sorry I forget his name ) are always sooo helpful! They are always friendly and anytime we need anything they are ALWAYS there to help. They feel like a second family tbh! I love how clean the gym area is, we also love the pool during the summer time and the clubhouse is always clean! Also an added bonus are the cute community parties they hold for the residents! We occasionally get Taco Tuesdays!!! Anyone who feeds me tacos is AMAZING! read more

Do not let the photos fool you! Some of these apartments have rats! I moved in July last year and found out days later of the rat infestation in the apartments on the side I was living on. The Manager did not offer me another apartment nor did they refund me for all my personal items that were damaged from all the rats that were in that apartment. The apartment was inhabitable and they did not care that I was having an issue!! They also placed my account in Collections for a month rent, because I moved out and when they told me that I didn't have to pay for that month and that I can get out of my Lease! Whoever is moving to the area DO NOT RENT IN THIS COMPLEX!! They do not care about the Tenants!! All they want is your money!! Please Beware! Lots of other nicer apartments in the area that don't have RATS!!!! read more

We previously lived at Green Mount Lakes apartments and moved to a house. To this day we continue to maintain relationships with residents and the staff. We are considering moving back to apartment living. The only place we would consider moving to is back to Green Mount Lakes. There, we felt safe, comfortable, and cared for by the wonderful people who work the front office and the maintenance crews. We especially formed a special bond with Tracy and her family. Tracy always had a smile ready even while facing her own personal challenges and tirelessly worked to see that all resident's needs were satisfied. Green Mount has been a wonderful community for us, and we wish them continued success. Knowing that Tracy, Andree, and other sincere staff members are still there would make our decision an easy one. The location of this complex cannot be beat. Everything you need is literally across the street. This is reflected in the rent price. Noise is never an issue (although I can't say the same for parking, especially with the construction) and my neighbors are SO friendly. read more

I've rented several places and Green Mount Lakes Apartments exceeds all of my expectations. My apartment was in great condition when I moved in. They recently renovated the pool and club house- it is gorgeous! The staff are so sweet and have become friends. Maintenance is extremely fast and typically fixes things the day you put a request in. They even spent days replacing dry wall when a leaky AC system created some mold. They had the mold professionally taken care of. I have lived here for a year and a half. They go above and beyond for their tenants. I'm sad I have to go after this year because no place will compare! Thank you for the best renting experience I've had yet! read more

This place was great...until we moved out! We were super excited at the chance to live here, and it was an added perk that we only had a $24 deposit due to me being in grad school still. The community was decent, apart from the kids that parents let run rampant. And the staff was decent the majority of the time. A month before our lease was up, we received a $100 late fee charge. When I went to the office to see what it was for, as we were NEVER late on our rent. Andree originally told me it was because I never paid the second half of my pet deposit ($300 total.) When I told her I knew for a fact that was wrong, she quickly changed her tune to that it was because part of our rent was late.....in MARCH. When I asked her why it took so long (it was now October), she didn't have an answer for me. So we sucked it up and paid the stupid late fee knowing it wasn't late. THEN a few weeks after moving out, we received a charge of $125 listed as "pet cleaning". I personally steam cleaned the floors AND knew that there was still a pet deposit of $150 (the other $150 was supposedly nonrefundable). My boyfriend called several times to discuss the matter, and was always given the run around and promised a return call. THEN yesterday we received a letter indicating they had turned us over to collections. I simply believe that these people were out to get more money from us due to the fact that we didn't have a full deposit during move-in since I received the "student special". I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Beware. read more

I was a tenant for 3yrs, I paid my rent on time, as well as the high water, trash, and sewer bill (when no one was at home during the day time at my apartment). I recently moved out as of 12/14/19. I decided to move out when Traci basically called me a liar to my face. I had been paying the balance in full every month from the statement of which I received in the mail. I had been paying a $50 month to month fee. Which was added on my statement every month. but in September management decided to go into the portal and add $621 extra. So I decided to walk around to the leasing office to see where the extra money came from, Traci begins to tell me that the charges are the month to month fees. I explained to her that I have been paying a month to month fee that has been showing on the statement that I received. I explained that it was $50 bucks she began to raise her voice saying that is not true. I informed her I have no reason to lie and that I could prove it .Went home and got the statement and returned to the office to show her that I have been paying the fee since I had not signed a new lease. I was going to sign another lease but chose not too after that conversation and I felt like I could take my money elsewhere in which I did. Not only was it not professional, but it made me ready to leave. Even after proving my case I had to wait 2 1/2 months before the issue was corrected. So every month I had late fees. I have come to realize that management in that leasing office are crooks and liars. I paid my rent, water, sewer, and trash bill at the same time. Today I received a bill from Andrea stating that she was keeping my deposit and that I owe them $23.16. as I look at the break down I am showing where they are charging me a late fee of a $100 bucks, when I was told by Andrea that I will need to pay $445 plus the water, sewer, trash which that totaled to be $527 paid that in full. The letter also states they are charging me for water from 10/01/19-12-17-19, sewer 10/01/19-12/17/19 and trash 10/01-19-12-17-19 how are they charging me for these services and I pay them monthly on my statement. If I was not paying for these services than yes charge me, but when I am paying you do not send me a letter stating I have not paid for water , sewer, and trash for 2 1/2 months. Because you do not want to give me my deposit back you are saying that I owe you. Yes I extended my move out time to the 12/14/19 in which I did leave on that day. When I asked Traci would there be a fee, she replied no, and now On this same letter they are charging me $200 for that. I even cleaned the apartment for them so they would not have so much to do. When you take your check to the leasing office they hold on to it for at least another 6 days which anytime after the 5th it is late. and than you have to go back and forward with them to remove the late fee, because you paid them on time. I will never recommend anyone to these apartments. If you do not record the conversation between you and management it becomes your word against theirs and you wonder why the tenants are moving out and complaining. As I was moving out at least 4 families were moving at the same time and our conversation was basically the same. Now if you do not sign a lease month to month fees will be $300. that will not keep tenants it will run them off. read more

I moved into the Apartment in June 2017 and everything was fine. 2 weeks later, I saw a mouse in the apt. 2 days later they caught the mouse and was told it maybe came in while they were replacing the carpet. A few days later, I saw another mouse and it was going in and out of my cabinet drawer eating my packages of instant potatoes and leaving droppings all over my can foods. Maintenance set traps and finally caught that mouse. Next few days another was found and informed Management again that I could not live with these mice. I was sent an email back stating that they were probably getting in to eat my bird food. I don't have a bird and the reply was meant to go to the tenants on the 3rd floor that was complaining of rats as well. After I informed the Management that I didn't have a bird, they stated that the infestation was due to the Construction going on, on the Main road. I continued to see rats running thru my apartment, so I informed the Management that I will not continue to live with rats and that I would be moving. The Management agreed to let me out of my Lease. As I was packing up my belongings, I found that the rats had chewed up some of my clothing and purses and shoes. They had dug holes going thru both bedroom closets and in the bedroom from the outside. I informed Management that a lot of my property was destroyed and that I needed them to reimburse me for my items. I sent pictures to back up my claim. I heard nothing from the Management except that they charged me a month's rent for moving all my items out a day going into the next month. Another tenant had moved in while I was still living there and moved out the very next week because of the rats. Since, I have moved out they have placed my account in collections and refuse to remove it. This place have a serious rat infestation and I do not recommend anyone living there. I am not sure why there are no other complaints about these rats, because I know a lot of the apartments, especially the ones on the first floor had them. read more

Green Mount Lakes rental properties are beautifully landscaped, offer tons of amenities including car detailing (wow!) and have an extremely helpful, fun and friendly leasing office. Ok so I lived at Green Mount for two and a half years. When I first moved there, it was great. Beautiful apartment, great neighbors, etc. I didn't really encounter the staff much as I didn't have much problems, except packages being stolen which absolutely sucked, but they have solved that issue now. I was in a building close to the office, where everything is kept nice. I started having issues with my downstairs neighbor and other people did too. When he moved in, he would get drunk and fight with a girl, no idea what relation she was him. One night it was a physical fight and someone called the cops. The staff worked with me to find me another apartment and get away from a guy I was truly scared of. So I moved to a building in the back and this is where the real issues began. The buildings in the back are not taken care of like the buildings in the front. The staff messed up my proration rate (they really have a hard time doing basic math in that office), the neighbors back there always smelled of pot. They parked where they wanted (ie not in a parking space). I was blocked in for many hours multiple times and as a result was late to work and doctors appointments multiple times. I can't live somewhere where I cannot leave for work in the morning. People started parking their trailers right next to the building blocking some in and taking up more than one parking space. Management did nothing other than issue a letter to my building. They said they couldn't tow unless the car was there for more than 24 hours. Which I mean I get it their hands might actually be tied; however, I couldn't live there any longer and actually broke my lease early. I will compliment Andree though, while her math skills are also lacking, she will listen and try to solve your problem. The woman from corporate in Chicago is not only an airhead, but has no business in that position. I definitely think they need to promote Andree to that position. I honestly wouldn't recommend this place though. The rent increases so much every year, but that doesn't seem to stop deadbeats that will make your life hell from moving in. read more

Living in this shitty place was like a nightmare. It's basically like living in a bad retirement community. Rent was crazy and the staff failed to inform us that the unit next to us on the same floor had caught on fire and that the building was burned on the exterior. I just didn't notice for awhile because I didn't look up there much. A couple of the staff members were super sweet and always friendly. The manager-totally rude and condescending. I moved out, everything was paid and settled then got a $700 bill from them for pet cleaning and new carpet. I kept my apartment spotless and when I moved in had a carpet company come and clean the carpets because there were spots all over they failed to clean. I said whatever and called 3 different occasions to set up a payment plan and was told all 3 times that they were busy and I would receive a call back. Finally got a bill staying they turned me over to collections. Totally unprofessional and not a good place to live. read more
