Would not recommend this service. They are way over priced and came too early 30 mins outside of their arrival window. They did not do a walk through with me on my needs for cleaning the house and left windowsills dirty. I came home to find they did half the dishes and left those clean in the sink but the other half they left dirty all over the counter. It was ridiculous. They cleaned off counters but did not nicely organize anything on them, they just left things strewn across the surface. When I contacted them to remedy the situation they were extremely unhelpful. It took a lot of back and forth to even get some concessions from them. For how much I paid them, I expected a way better clean and impeccable responses for their lack of quality. They gave me a couple credits for future cleanings but I will not be inviting them back into my home. read more

Look, I can see that as soon as I post this, based on the history here, I'll clearly get a negative response from the owner but I still feel the need to be honest. Note: I think most Yelpers agree that responding as such to each of the reviews does not help others feel these were isolated incidents or that the customer was in the wrong, instead it seems to back up the complaints. I, like others, got the groupon for service but increased the amount of time to try and incorporate the additional work I thought I'd need. The scheduling, while not a complete breeze was not a problem for me a bit and I honestly had no negative interaction with the owner. She seems nice and tries to do her best to ask the condition of your house ahead of time. I, however, think it would be better when the cleaner comes and sees the list/talks over the plan that they give feedback right then if it's not do-able in the amount of time alloted. I liked the personality of my house cleaner, she was polite and friendly and damn, is that one room in my house REALLY clean. But 4 hours for one room? How is that even possible? The room is about 10x10 at best. I warn others who want to use their service, be clear if you want depth or breadth as I would have hoped for less concentration on that one room and a bit more overall cleaning. Update 3/2/10: I admit that even though the owner followed up with me via email after service to ensure I was happy, I didn't respond and so I was not forthcoming about my problem. So, I do take responsiblity for not telling her about the 4 hours/one room scenario and I should have- that's on me. While I feel bad and I'm sure she's just trying to do a good job- and again, I honestly didn't do my part-but still, all these comments accusing people of lying about being customers and such does worse damage than the reviews. read more

So excited to find this company...I overlooked what seemed like a rather curt appointment setter. Nailing down a time seemed unnecessarily difficult, communications often were missing info and were confusing. One company rep would say there was no availability for 2 weeks, the next person offered service within 3 days. Seriously couldn't tell anyone had cleaned. Really nice cleaners, but they shouldn't call this their profession. Save your energy and money- do it yourself or find another company. read more

Rip off- and was rude when I questioned "why the rip off?" Quoted me $238 for an initial cleaning and told me it would be $98 each time for a twice monthly cleaning moving forward. I questioned the price and was told I "could go find someone on Craigslist for cheaper who doesn't care about the environment". Just to clarify- I do care about the environment- very much so- and I DON'T have a ton of cash- especially with the crapper economy we've got right now. So I was pretty turned off by the conversation I had. Not a good first impression at all. I found someone on Yelp who does care about the environment- did the initial clean for $100, and will come twice a month for $60-75. As a busy (and admittedly lazy) professional I don't always have time to keep my condo spic n' span--and when I do have time I usually find I'd rather be doing something besides cleaning. Thus, my humble abode has been slowly deteriorating in condition for a while. I heard about Green Cleaning Seattle on Yelp and decided to check them out. I liked what I read on their website about their philosophy and the environmentally-friendly products they use (I have a feline cohabitant), so I sent them an email and asked for a price quote. The owner and manager, Gea B., quickly responded to me and helped me set up an appointment for a "deep clean" (did I mention it had been a while?). The day of the cleaning Taryn showed up at my door a few minutes before the scheduled appointment--quite a feat of punctuality considering the lousy parking in my neighborhood. I showed her around, left her my cell number in case she had any questions and headed off to work. That evening I came home to a place I hardly even recognized. My home was spotless and even the piles of junk on my office desk were straightened up. I don't know how I lived without this service for so long and immediately signed up for a bi-monthly cleaning. There are a lot of cleaning services out there (including some less expensive, un-bonded, under-the-table arrangements), but Green Cleaning Seattle is hard to beat. Their prices are competitive with other bonded cleaners, they do a fantastic job and they don't ruin the planet in the process. read more

I hired Green Cleaning Seattle because I remembered they did a fantastic job at my former workplace. I felt lazy hiring a service for our little 600 sq foot apartment, but my husband and I have not had much time for deep cleaning. We are very tidy people, but as for the scrubbing -- not so good. So I figured, why not call and schedule an intensive spring clean? I must admit I am not always 'green' and didn't really believe that green products could truly get things sparkling clean. I was wrong! Jaime was our cleaner, and she got our kitchen sink and bathroom tiles cleaner than we thought was possible. Also -- she was really amazingly friendly! I was in the apartment toward the end of the cleaning, and she was so personable. We talked about art and poodles (my two favorite topics). It has now been 3 weeks since the cleaning and our place is still spotless. I'm so glad we decided to get the deep clean. read more

GEA: First, you addressed your response to "Melanie"...I am NOT Melanie. You did lie and mislead and you continue to do so in your response. You continue to say that housekeepers were in the house for 7.75 hours...IT WAS 4 HOURS! Makes no difference how many girls you send...I was quoted $160 for 4 HOURS! You were rude when a request was made for an adjustment on the bill. There was no interest in having your girls come back. Furthermore, you threatened, that with every 7 days that passed without payment, as an attempt was being made to try and resolve this issue with you, you stated you would be adding additional and unreasonable fees to the bill. Additionally, it is absolutely ridiculous and unheard of for you to prefer payment via PayPal and then want to charge an additional 4% to cover your PayPal charges. What? Your charges are excessive to begin with. It is not a stretch to convey that your company and policies border on a scam and any customers considering your services should beware! read more

Apartment was left worst than before, cleaner didn't clean half the apartment and used wrong liquid to clean the floor leaving it sticky (as if soft drink was spilled everywhere). So disappointing! I really love the concept of Green Cleaning but the results were awful, which is unfortunate because the girl who came to my house was really nice. The moral, the middle was clean... and that was it. I was amazed to be told that they were amazed at how clean my house was with two cats. Sure the obvious was clean but the microwave never got opened, the lamp shades still covered in dust, the baskets with blankets and magazines still had hardballs behind them. I called Green Clean for a deeper clean and got total disappointment. When detailed my experience with them, filled out the survey... they offered me $10 towards my next over priced cleaning. I was extremely disappointed in the cleaning job performed by Green Cleaning Seattle. The already-vaccuumed floor looked like it had been re-vacuumed and the 2 small bathrooms were cleaned. That was it, for a 4-6 hour appointment. Surfaces were FILTHY and hadn't even been brushed off with a wet rag. Honestly, dusting should be standard. Then they made excuses, saying that the house was in poor condition (it wasn't). There wasn't even furniture to work around, since we had just moved out. When I hire cleaners, I expect them to do a better job than I would myself. Because they're professionals. Seriously, spend your money elsewhere. Edited 01/08/2011: Wow...the response to my negative review is a flat out lie. We never asked for the cleaner to go near the attic. When we booked the cleaning, we were clear about the size of the house and the state of the house. Clearly Gea does not care about delivering a quality product and having satisfied customers. Don't let the name of the company fool you. These are not cleaning experts. They are, simply, smart entrepreneurs trying to cash in on the green movement. They did such a poor job that we had to go in the next day to clean the entire place again. And, after a little research, I discovered that the favorable reviews given on yelp and elsewhere were given by the owner and employees. So, I think its fair to say that Green Cleaning Seattle (aka. Seattle Natural Cleaning) is a complete fraud. Its interesting, and notable, that they go by two different names: Green Cleaning Seattle and Seattle Natural Cleaning. There are legit companies out there doing good for the environment (make sure they are green certified), so don't give up on "green" or "natural" companies, yet. read more

So disappointed. It was expensive and I could hardly tell they had been there when they left. There was dust on shelves, dirt behind the toilet and in the bathroom drawers and cabinet, lint and dirt on the carpet.... the list goes on and on. It was a move-in/deep clean so the house was even empty, should've been easy but unfortunately I was forced to move into a dirty home. I had to move in the day after they cleaned (which was a very busy day for me - finish packing, moving and then cleaning the place I was vacating) - so I did not send them an email until the following day. They said there was nothing they could do because I didnt contact them soon enough. They were more concerned about their policies and excuses than customer satisfaction or service. Horrible experience with Green Cleaning. The cleaners were an hour late an acted as if it was our fault. After they were done "cleaning" , I found a plastic bag of twist ties stuck halfway in the garbage disposal?? The cleaners had been the only ones in the house since I had moved out, so no one else could have done this. I called Gea immediately to let her know what had happened. She then talked to her cleaners and told me they had nothing to do with it. Hmmm... I told her they were the only ones there, so I dont see that as a possiblity. She had a hard time believing me. Long story short, house sold and I had to replace the disposal. It cost about $200. Gea finally agreed to reimburse the money if we could provide a receipt of work/disposal. Stupid me, I actually went to the trouble of doing that and getting a receipt from the new owner, believing Green cleaning would honor their word. 6 months later, numerous phone calls and emails, I receive a check in the mail for a partial discount of $50. My next call will be to the Better Business Bureau - hopefully to put them out of business. I understand bad things can happen when you hire a service, but after the fact - why drag your heels for half a year and treat the customer poorly after you promised a refund?? Worth every cent. Prompt, clear communications, all my questions answered via email, easy to schedule convenient time slot. Cleaner arrived promptly, was friendly, mellow, nice to my cats, & did a FANTASTIC job! In addition to (a long-overdue) deep cleaning, all my random piles of mail, books etc are straightened up, dishes/bowls up on high shelves are clean & nicely arranged, even the inside of my washing machine is clean... very conscientious & great attention to detail. My overall customer experience with Green Cleaning is the worst I've had with a service provider. Yes, worse than Comcast. If you scroll through the one star reviews, you will see that our experience with Green Cleaning is a common one. The cleaning is fine. A bit slow with just one cleaner, but the job was always done well. The cleaners themselves were always nice too. I liked them. I suppose that's why we kept the service for the 18 months we did. But then we get to the customer service, which as I mentioned above can become off the rails bad. It's the classic "it's fine until something goes wrong" sort of experience. I recall the first scuffle was about billing. Something silly about invoice fees and it being terribly inconvenient for them if we paid by card instead of check. We moved on, but admittedly kept grumbling about a few ongoing inconveniences. We did our best to be good customers though. We paid on time and were flexible a few times when cleaners had to reschedule for one reason or another. But whenever push came to shove it was clear that this flexibility was not going to be returned. In fact, as the billing and scheduling practices grew increasingly aggressive, we felt disrespected and exploited. A few choice examples: * A cleaner had to cancel due to sickness. No problem, these things happen and we're happy reschedule. Green Cleaning then proceeded to pick a new time on our behalf, and then threatened a cancellation fee when we informed them that we'd be traveling during the new slot. Keep in mind, it was the cleaner who cancelled. We just wanted some say in the new scheduling. * A cleaner showed up on New Year's Day, our regularly scheduled day, but with zero advance warning that the holiday was still a go. I would have expected a heads up, but you'll find that Green Cleaning only communicates when it benefits them. Frustrating for everyone involved, and certainly some blame on our part, but probably not enough to warrant charging for a full cleaning plus a late fee. Anyway, as we were trying to find a solution, they sent us to collection. With a second late fee added. We finally reached a handshake agreement for a 50% discount to make up for our frustration, and then paid the collection. Not long after payment went through we were informed that there would be no discount after all. It was really the debt collection that did it. We'd been regularly paying customers for a year and a half at that point, and it was shocking to witness such a disconnect between our history and Green Cleaning's actions. It was nothing new, but it sure does make it clear where you stand. I suppose there's a bit of "fool me twice, shame on me" in this story. But my loss can be your gain. Steer clear. read more

Gea, yes it is worth a one star review. The written quote to me included two people, the rate quoted was per HOUR not per hour per PERSON. So, in my opinion, I WAS overcharged. When I pointed this out when I called back, I was treated rudely and told that ALL cleaning companies charge that way. When I let you know that my current company didn't charge that way, you insisted that they were unlicensed and unbonded (NEITHER of which is true). The one star rating is based on how shodily I was treated when I first complained about the discrepency that I felt existed between what I was quoted and what I was paying. There was never an apology for the vagueness of the email you originally sent. If you had said the first time that you were sorry about the misunderstanding, and offered to credit me a small amount in good faith, I would have probably rated the service a 3. Customer service is a top priority with me for any company. The customer service I received was terrible with your company. It wasn't until I called back and left a message complaining again and saying that many friends were interested in my impressions of your company and that I was going to give them a bad report that you called an offered me anything. I stand by the one star rating. The terrible customer service your company provided will prevent me from recommending your services to anyone, and I will never use your company again. read more

We used GCS for the first time for my office which is in an old house - cleaning had not been done for at least 2+ years. The cleaner came prepared to work and spent 3.5 hours on the initial clean. She took direction well and did a very thorough job. We will be signing up for everyother week cleaning. read more

I have been very dismayed by this house cleaning service. The owner never bothered to meet me in person and do a walk through of the house, and when i have had questions or complaints she just copies and pastes from her "guidelines" and skips over certain questions altogether. I choose her based on her low price and green aspect, and i will say the main cleaner i have had is super nice, trustworthy and a good cleaner, but there has just been one to many lousy jobs done by "alternate" cleaners and too little done by Gea the owner to even attempt to resolve the issue. Getting a cleaning service is already a stretch for our budget, and the last thing I want to do is not feel happy with the cleanliness of my house when i have just paid someone to do it. read more

I guess I'm not the only one who have experienced the attitude from this company before you're even a client. I emailed with them a few times and even spoke with them on the phone and set up a time for the initial cleaning. More money than I wanted to spend and had spent in the past but to find someone reliable, I was ready to pay. So I scheduled the day off from work so I could be there when they were for the initial cleaning. I then emailed to confirm the time a week in advance and was told that the time had not been set up for me and that I could not get the person that was recommended. Gea, the owner and not the person I spoke or emailed with before, tried to then schedule other people at different times than already agreed upon. I replied saying that I could not go with someone who was not reliable and to forget the whole deal. To which she responded blaming me for the error saying I had not confirmed after the last email. No, I CALLED AND SPOKE WITH SOMEONE AFTER THE LAST EMAIL. Needless to say I have no idea if they clean well. But I can say, the owner has way too much attitude to deal with the clients and they charge too much. The hourly rate isn't bad but they have a minimum of 2.5 hours for bi-monthly. My previous guy did my place in less than 2 hours. So for people with small places, this is a rip off. And for people who don't want attitude, this is a no brainer. AVOID! read more

Raise your hand if you were excited about having a green cleaning company in the Seattle area. I know I was (past tense). There's a reason why there are 2 stars and not just 1 star in my review, which I'll explain: I called and scheduled a "move-out" clean for last week (the appointment setting was easy and they were--and remained polite throughout). The actual cleaner called to let me know she was on her way, which was greatly appreciated, as this house is our rental house and I live 5 miles away and had to drive in order to meet her. The electrical box had been knocked off the house by the former tenant's hauler he hired, and there was no electricity/heat in the house. When the cleaner arrived, I explained the situation and offered to pay her a flat fee just for showing up and I would reschedule when the power came back up. She said "no problem" and cleaned the house in the dark and cold for 7 1/2 hours!! I couldn't believe it. (Hence, the 2nd star rating. Truly, this girl alone was worth 5 stars but that would skew my opinion ratings). Unfortunately, the cleaning couldn't be completed that day so 2 1/2 hours would need to be scheduled the following week. No problem; I tipped her $20, bought her Starbuck's and called Green Cleaning again to set the new appointment. Today, I called to confirm the appointment I had set last week (since I had to drive to meet them). I was assured that I was on their schedule. I stopped working, headed to the bank to get $ to pay/tip the cleaner and picked up some Starbucks again for them. I was at the house for about 45 minutes, and waited until 20 minutes past the "window" they told me and emailed them from my phone. They were prompt in calling me back, but they told me that they couldn't get a hold of the cleaner. She offered to give me a free future service, which I told her I didn't need a free service; I understood that they were in business too, but told them I would appreciate some sort of credit. THEN she told me that they could reschedule on SATURDAY. I have a renter that is supposed to move in and that due to their mistake, I would have to lose more $ because of lack of rent. Later, I received an email coupon for 1 hour of free cleaning, which between the time spent already, the loss of rental income and the fact that I will have to research ANOTHER cleaning company means that I lost double what I paid for the initial cleaning! *sigh* I should have taken her up on the free cleaning but hindsight is 20/20...I just assumed that they would "make it right" by scheduling me right away....She even knew that I was looking into having monthly cleaning services at my own home depending on how the final product looked and well, that's all gone to pot. I wish I could get the name of cleaner that came last week, so I could tell her how much I appreciated her cleaning services. Wow, some really negative feelings expressed here which I don't share. I am a very picky person who demands only the best. I have used Green Cleaning for a year or so and have had consistently good cleans, on the date and time I've scheduled. Never been disappointed and I've had several different cleaners from them in that period of time. It's very refreshing to get personable, responsible and intelligent cleaners, not the run of the mill "could care less" types. Last week I was not home when the cleaner was here. There was a fire alarm test in our building and it totally freaked our dog out. Our Green Cleaning cleaner noticed, took charge of the dog, calming her down. This is service above and beyond. I am impressed and delighted. Bottom line: give them a try, they communicate well and deliver consistently. read more

We searched awhile for a "green" cleaner until we found Green Cleaning! We have them come every other week with the same cleaner and love it. They are very through, easy to work with and honest/hardworking. We have a dog, so dog hair was a concern. It took a few visits to get it right, but they were very committed to doing a good job. Further, when something was wrong (e.g. dog hair) they were very gracious and worked with us to make it right. It was easy to get started on the schedule. The different packages are also clearly outlined so you know exactly what you're getting. They've also been able to accommodate last minute requests (e.g. relatives visiting). I called 2 days in advance and was told I could get a cleaning early in the morning that I wanted to. The next day I was unable to get to my phone and they called me back saying that they were mistaken, but that if I called them by noon, I could get a time later in the day. Needless to say, I was unaware and unable to. I appreciate that they did put some effort in to accomodating me once I was able to contact them, but honestly feel that due to the time constraints I had let them know about, that an appointment I could make should have been held for me. Being totally aware that times are hard these days, I think customer service is of the utmost importance. I honestly felt slighted that although I had booked an appointment, another customer called in after I had and got a slot that I feel I deserved, whether I contacted them or not. Having worked in customer service, not putting a customer first really gets to me. Otherwise, the woman was very nice. read more

After the extremely positive reviews I read here, I was very disappointed with the 'deep clean' I signed up for with Green Cleaning. Not only was the floor still dirty and the table not even wiped off, but the worst was that the bathroom had barely been touched. I had an awful experience with this company. I talked to someone in September about completing an application to be on the wait list for a cleaning. Green cleaning sent me an email which went straight to my junk mail (and didn't make any attempt to call me to let me know that were coming) two months later in the end of November. And then invoiced me for $500 for not being there because I was out of town and didn't realize that they were planning on coming that day. She was so pleasant, punctual, and ruthlessly efficient. I love our place! She left detailed notes about what she did. An excellent job, extremely happy. My Mother used to complain about cleaning maids not doing the best job. I think that is unavoidable--nobody will do it exactly the way we want! We sent comments to Green Cleaning Seattle about how we thought their work could better fit our needs and they were always responsive. This is what is most important to me. Also, they are very trustworthy. We leave our keys with the maid since we are often not at home and have never had a problem. I have worked for this company, and I must say that my experience was not very good. At first I was very excited to get a job for a green cleaning company, having no experience with cleaning or maid work. But quickly got discouraged after very minimal training, and immediately being assigned to clean houses on my own. After a few months I had to quit, for medical reasons after being overbooked and being told that there was nothing to be done, although I was very sick. My doctor told me I had no choice but to quit. I admit I did not give proper notice but my doctor gave me little choice. Recently I had applied for a teaching job, my new supervisor had called the company for my work history, and Gea was very rude to her. Not only telling her what I expected her to, but was overly unpleasant to the point that she said something to me about it. Thankfully I still got the job, but I found this very innapropriate, and is what prompted me to write this review. read more

I guess I should have read these comments before getting and using a groupon from this cleaning place. First off, they stated that I requested a longer time period to clean, than actually I did. Threatening to send me to collections, without hearing my side of the story (and on the same day that I was supposed to make payment). Seriously the WORST cleaning I have ever experienced and customer service is horrible. I had a cleaner come out yesterday and the house honestly looked worse than when he left. We keep a very clean house -- we regularly vacuum, dust, etc. -- and we have a small house. I have someone come every two weeks just to give me a break every other week. When we came home yesterday after someone was supposedly here for 3 hrs 15 minutes, there were still dust bunnies, cat hair, dirt stains on the floor. It looked like the kitchen cabinets were wiped with a dirty rag, the stove top was the same. I spent 2 hours cleaning after they left because it felt like the person used dirty rags to clean. When I called to complain -- after being a customer for almost a year -- with no complaints (although the cleaning was always just adequate but I was too lazy to find someone else) the owner was very non-responsive. In the past when ever they have come to clean, I have always been here. This is probably why the cleaning was adequate. Save your money and avoid having germs and dirt off of their rags spread around your house -- Do NOT use this service -- really horrible. read more
