I went in to get my hair balayaged from my natural light brown to blonde. While the experience itself was wonderful and the woman who did my hair was lovely, the afterword is what has me irked. I wanted to fade to blonde at the bottom and, while in the studio light of the salon it looked like it was just a very subtle fade, I later realized that you can't even notice anything's been dyed let alone blonde if it's in regular room lighting or even just outside. Although that would have been a little annoying it was the price tag that really made me dislike Greenelement.
At the check out I was chatting with the hair stylist and just handed my card over to pay. The next day after checking my bank statements I realized that they charged $285. I called thinking there was some mistake, but the lady (who was very polite) informed me that the stylist I had was a 'master' so everything was the most expensive the store had to offer: the 1/2 head of colour was $145, the cut (which was an inch off the bottom, maybe less) was $100 and to 'tone' my hair to the correct dyed colour (which apparently isn't part of the cost of colouring it) was an extra $40. That is an insane amount for dye you have to squint at to see and an inch off the bottom. When I got to the salon it wasn't explained at all that there were different levels of stylist and I wasn't given any sort of option. It wasn't as if the lower level stylists were busy, I was the only person in the salon.
This experience was supposed to be a treat, not a whole month's car payment for essentially nothing. read more
